Both locations (Troy and Madison Heights) are kept up and always have fully functioning equipment. I do not like the fact that you cant carry around your bag throughout the gym. I understand they dont want to have clutter or have a member trip/get hurt over someones bag being left on the ground. However, I have been an LA fitness member for over two years and have never had an issue with this. They allow people to freely carry their things with them around the gym. My reasoning behind the poor review is due to the membership cancellation process. I attempted to cancel my membership over the phone, and the employee wouldnt let me. I drove to the Madison Heights location, which is owned by the same owner as the Troy Location, and they still wouldnt let me cancel my membership because I didnt sign up at that specific location. In addition, the older gentlemen with glasses was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. I then had to drive to the Troy location, where I was able to cancel my membership. I found the total experience pretty ridiculous when they could have easily canceled the membership over the phone, or sent me the document I needed to sign via email. All the document was, was a form that needed my signature, which again couldve been done through email. Any chance that this gym had of me re-signing up has been lost, mostly due to how badly I was treated at the Madison heights location. The employees at Troy were, and have always been, pleasant to deal with.

I have no idea what these people are talking about in the previous reviews!? I first went to this gym when I came to town from business excursions and can happily and proudly say that I am a current member. I have been everywhere. I have had memberships at all the other gyms in town including Lifetime, Beverly Hills Club and Franklin as well as other Powerhouse franchises. I am in the gym 5 days a week. I have never seen any 'non members' leaning against machines just hanging out. Yes, the owner does want you to follow the gym guidelines and he does post them every 5 feet. But that is to ensure a safe gym and a positive atmosphere! And when I came and left the gym 2 years ago, I NEVER had a problem cancelling and rejoining!! Seriously, this small gym tucked away just south of the 75 overpass in Troy is hands down the best gym I have ever been to. It is a family I swear! The staff are great, the owner is the man, and all of the members are top notch. Best gym culture in the area, hands down! Love this place!

Thank you powerhouse troy staff and loyal customers. Since i have been a member, i have left my phone there, and left my weight belt, and my keys. Very honest people who go to this gym along with the staff has always found my items and returning them to me. No other gym i know of does that! Ive been with this gym a few years now. I love the family atmosphere. All the members are serious about there workouts. George, junior,and rocky make you feel right at home! I love the rules there! Nobody leaves gym bags or hoodys laying around. Thats the way a gym is supposed to be. Everybody knows everybody .even If you never met them. They all smile and say hello. The gym is always clean. I finally found a gym for myself! Thank you to the staff george, rocky, junior, and bree. You awsome! !!!

Of all the gyms I have been to Powerhouse in Troy as well as Madison Heights are the only ones that I would ever recommend to friends and family. The staff there is very friendly and the owner George really knows his stuff. I have yet to ask him a question about a supplement he does not know the answer too ( and he has never been wrong in his recomendations either.) The gym is in top notch shape and has to be the cleanest gym i have ever seen or worked out in. I have tried other gyms but nothing compares to Powerhouse in Troy!!

I have had memberships at several different gyms and none equal up to Powerhouse. I absolutely love this gym! This gym focuses on building muscle and strength. Its obvious by the amount of free weights and machines (especially in the Madison Heights location). I love that no matter how busy the gym gets, you rarely have to wait for anything. Im getting the body that I want from this gym. I highly recommend Powerhouse to all of my friends. The staff in both Troy and Madison Heights are also very friendly and welcoming.

Been coming here for about 4 years. Absolutely love it. The gym is always clean and the equipment is modern and always functioning. The staff treats you like family. It is great to go to a gym where they know your name and sincerely care about you. I recently mentioned to the owner (George) that my wife and I had a baby boy. Without hesitation he gave me a free Powerhouse baby bib. You just dont get this type of service at any other gym.

I just started taking the group training classes and I couldnt be happier. The trainers are educated, passionate, and experienced. They push you to meet your goals with a variety of exercises and motivational support. Hands down, this gym is the best value out there for training, and working out on your own. Everyone is so welcoming and the staff treats their members like family.

This gym is excellent. Well maintained and the staff are very personable. The gym is "no muss, no fuss". No long lines at machines. No crowded locker rooms. Check in is fast and you can get right to working out. Plus they have great trainers. I have personal experience with Brandon, who is a great boxing coach and personal trainer. Great gym!

I cannot recommend this gym enough! Ive been going there for over 4 years and it really feels like a family when I walk in. Ive brought several friends in and they all bought memberships too. Ive gotten merchandise, supplements, and training sessions. The 24/7 part is the best because I have such a crazy schedule!

I have been a Powerhouse member for 20+ years. I enjoy the convenience of 24 hour access and appreciate that the facility has every piece of exercise equipment I will ever need to get a good work out. The monthly dues are very affordable. All this translates into an all around terrific value.

This is the best run facility in Michigan. George and his staff treat you like family. The equipment is always the newest and the best. Powerhouse Troy has always been the most immaculate gym. The cleanest equipment, locker room, etc. I would highly recommend it.

Terrible establishment. Majority of the members dont clean the equipment after using. Also when I signed up for a one year membership I specifically asked if it out automatically renew and was promised that it wouldnt. Well that was a blatant lie. Do not go here!
