The Big Ragu

*Take note of the 2 new positive reviews before reading. They look irrely simmilar wouldnt you say? Maybe as if theyre paid? Plus, both accounts have only posted one review and its for this gym. Seems suspect.* Great place if youre looking for club members who dont follow rules, a gym that doesnt enforce them and cleaning other peoples sweat marks left by their butts off of gym equipment while working out in a filthy atmosphere. Their cleaning lady doesnt even clean in the morning; Ive seen plenty of times when she will be sitting down watching tv...on the job. Theres literally parts of the gym in plain view that are so dusty people have wrote names and the word "dusty" on them. Its disgusting. Also nearly all of the equipment is rusted or busted. Use to be able to leg press over 800 at PF with no problem. Now that I come here, I get extreme back pain while using their leg press along with a lot of resistance. They dont care to fix it Watch out if you deadlift, people will complain and give you dirty looks. Yet other members will slam 20lbs of weight on a pull cable like they just hit a PR or something. To top it off, the manager Joe likes to play favorites. And by this I mean, if youre not buddy buddy with him, watch out. He threatened to revoke my membership than did so immediately afterwards. All for reporting on their feedback section about the lack of cleanliness in the gym due to the cleaning lady watching movies instead of working. Yet Ive literally dealt with people not picking up their weights/equipment and people keeping me from entering the yoga/stretching area and Joe does nothing about it. Basically, become friends with Joe if you go here and you can break the rules all you want. Topping it off is that they can literally revoke your membership for anything. Sneeze wrong? They can revoke it. Wrong color clothing? They can revoke it. Inform them of rules being broken? They can revoke YOUR membership for complaining. Its a fun atmosphere that feels more like at-will employement, yet Im paying to be there instead. If youre looking for the Wild West for fitness, this is it. Nobody cares but everyone will expect you to.

If I could ever recommend a gym to any of my friends anytime fitness of flat rock would be the place. Everyone you run into at the gym is very nice and helpful. Ive gained more friends at this gym then any other gym around this area and Ive been to all of them. Joe is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and if you ever have any problems hes there to solve it, you wouldnt get that at any other gym. He is also very helpful if you have any questions about fitness or if you wanna know if you are doing something wrong. As far as equipment you have everything you need. Very clean place which is well kept by not only the members and the staff. Also, they arent pushy like other gyms trying to get you to sign your friends up and give them people to call. Its a gym I can come to and get stuff done and have fun in the process. If you are looking for a gym look no further. Anytime fitness of flat rock is 10/10.

Gym is always dirty. Used toilet paper in the bathrooms just sitting there. Personal care items all over. Weights all over the place. Dust everywhere. They let people in half naked (women just in sports bras and shorts). They dont enforce wiping down machines. Manager does nothing to fix these issues except tell you that youre wrong and lying. Owner is never available to speak about the issues. Horrible gym. Id rather drive out of the way to go to a different gym. Horrible horrible place. Edit;; 2-13-17 - I find it hilarious that after I post a bad review 3 reviews come up that are super nice & amazing reviews. This place is either paying people to give them 5 star reviews or creating fake accounts to do so. That is sad and pathetic.

Ive been a part of this gym since day one. Will say there is unmatched gym etiquette displayed by the Flat Rock area people. A true testament to the greatness of this community. I would encourage anyone to just take a tour of the gym... Take a note of the club wipes available to members to help keep the gym clean. Not very many local gym offer these and its noticeable at AF I personally love the Hammer Strength equipment. Hampton plates and dumbells are sweet too! DBs go up to 145lbs, which is awesome for a meathead like me! :) Cardio equipment is Life Fitness which are just smooth machines with accurate Heart Rate monitors... Which I like to monitor.

Ive been coming to anytime fitness of flat rock since 2011 and Ive never had any problems. Ive met so many great people along the way and have gained tons of friends. Its a very clean environment and everyone is very helpful. Ive known joe for awhile now and hes a great guy. Any questions Ive ever had hes been there for me. The gym has everything you need and its all relatively new. Another thing I find I really like about this gym is they arent pushing you to get friends to join like other gyms Ive tried out. If I could recommend any gym to any of my friends or anyone out there in general anytime fitness of flat rock would be the place.
