I almost canceled my membership yesterday as I did walk in with that intent and for a few good reasons, one was 4 or so months ago I stopped training there because I could never get help when I had questions on the machines unless I did one of those classes and also I go to work from my workout and 90 percent of the time the showers were not bad bad if you do not mind Dirty showers so that cut my workouts to after work but also other then the hello and good buy the staff just did not care if you ask me, but Tuesday I found out if I canceled I would still have one more charge to pay so I gave Southgate 1 more shot and WOW WOW WOW I truly do not know what happened but total night and day the gym was spotless from top to bottom and the bathrooms were so clean you could smell it! and one second I met a man Jason who at the time was cleaning sinks and he went out of his way to ask about my day and move all his cleaning stuff just so I could use the mirror then 10 minutes later he is out o the floor cleaning a treadmill so I asked him a question on one of the exercise machines I wanted to try and once again he drops what he is doing and looks me in the eyes the whole while telling me in great detail how to do it with out getting hurt and then walks me over to meet a trainer and even the trainer was a breath of fresh air super nice and really knew his stuff and never did I feel like I was bugging them nor rushed at all. Day 2 thats right I gave it a go today as well and there at the counter was Jason with a welcoming smile and even a short talk about my baseball. Now today no trainer was visible but once Jason knew I was looking his way a lot he came on over and helped me out yet again with nothing but patience and good advice. Gym was once again spotless and bathrooms looked A +++++ New manager or new owner but it was night and day and you now have me canceling my Powerhouse membership to stay at Planet fitness. Jason thank you for remembering my name and your ability for best customer service I have ever had in a gym and if all the staff cares like you do then expect me to spread the Southgate Planet fitness name to all my friends and family. Good job becoming great again Planet fitness and once again thank you Jason. Sincerely, Jhon

You take your chances here, there is 2 managers who dont seem to be Americans during the day. They police the place like they own it and make it very uncomfortable to enjoy the gym and its people. It is a very somber gym for people and they are afraid they might do something to get kicked out at a moments notice. I know several people who have been kicked out of this gym. One for sweating to much, one for putting a fanny pack in a cup holder, one for having a headband more than a inch thick, and so on....this is a bad atmosphere, a real downer to work out in. These 2 have taken there authority to the extreme. They hit the lunk alarm daily when no one can here anything dropping, if you want to work out in a gym that they make up there own rules as they go along and lie to get you kicked out, this is the place for you, if you like to be treated like a child and be bullied this is the place for you. This is the judgment zone where managers are judging its paid members, what a horrible uncomfortable place to work out in. A real downer!

The staff members are great. Its never too busy when I go. The only problem I have is that their wifi seems to never work. Im very particular about the way I work out. I feel I cannot focus and "get lost" in my workout without a certain type of music. I dont have any way of listening to music besides through Pandora. I dont have data on my phone. I can only use the net via wifi. So I go to the gym expecting the wifi they offer to actually work... and it never does. So I sit there fumbling through a work out that is basically doing nothing for me because I cant get into it. I asked one of the staff members if I could have the password to one of the other wifi networks available and they said I wasnt allowed. I dont understand why this is. If the 3 locked wifi networks are for the what 5 employees working at a time, how do you expect one open wifi network to work for say 100 people all using it?

This place is over packed and dirty and smells the employees are lazy all they are doing in talking with their friends and do not want to help you or answer any ? A customer has or sign you in...The employees are to busy flirting with the teenage girls I seen one girl not intrested in the employee and he kicked her out because she had yoga pants on she worn these without any ? Many of times and the girl next to me had the same pants on and he said he don’t like hers. Any way that dose fall under sexual harassment. sad story. I witness this entire situation. I do not recommend this place to anyone… People are leaving when contracts are up and going to another place I may just pay the fee just so I don’t have to go back. It’s sad because it started out good but its yesterday’s news already….. do not sign contract If you realy want to try it only the 10 you can get out of and not stuck...

I wouldnt recommend this gym to anyone! The way the staff treats you is ridiculous. They dont seem to care if you have a question that they cant answer. Its kind of like -OH WELL-SORRY... and then they turn around and continue to chat with co-workers. On one visit I was going to use a tanning bed. It had 3 to 4 burnt out bulbs, which I wasnt aware of until I had my lotion on and was laying down in it. I had to get up and get dressed and go to the counter, at which point the other beds were being used. So I had to wait AGAIN to tan. The girl at the counter couldnt have cared less. The clincher was when they took $40 out of my bank account for an annual fee. I would say the majority of the members dont know this is automatic. The cancellation policy is that you must physically come into Planet Fitness or send a certified letter to cancel your membership. Unhappy customer FOR SURE

This place is a joke! I was so excited to sign up and start hitting the weights until the first time I went, I waited 10 minutes just to sign in, than I started my routine to hear the people behind me talking about how many sets was I going to do. Than I went to move to another machine to find someone sitting on it and chit chatting with a friend. So after my heart rate had already dropped, I started utilizing the machine to have a meat head stand and breath down my neck, asking after each rep if I was done! Are you kidding me? Than you ALWAYS have to wait 45 minutes (plus) to tan.yes its $20a month but its not worth the bullying and mental strain. Judgement free zone, not really!
