Ive been getting work when I need it on and off at this branch for nearly a decade. I like the staff, some more than others, and back when we used to actually sit around in the office and wait for jobs to "pop", the types of stories you would hear around the water cooler were... interesting, to say the least. Their matching system can be baffling to newcomers at times, and I can see how it could be frustrating or discouraging, but in about a decade of coming in at 4:45am, and sitting around til sometimes as late as 8am, being bored to tears, Ive gotten work more times than I havent. Its a mix of first come, first served, and "Right Match Dispatch". I think it had helped me that I always showed up with the right gear (some people come in dressed like they are ready to go to the club) including steel toe boots, and except for a very few rare occasions I would receive glowing endorsements from the customers after the job was completed. Their call center system is baffling, though. The person I spoke with (at a remote location, not at the Westland Office where I would plan to get work through) seemingly had no access to any relevant information, and hilariously told me I could go into the office to ask questions. Arent phone calls easier to attend to than people standing around in your place of business? Why not just let me call the office and speak with the dispatch or branch manager? I was asked several times if I wanted a message taken, and at multiple times I sort of laughed and said, "yeah, if you could just have someone at the office give me a call so I can ask them some questions" (because this person didnt know the answer to any of the questions I was asking such as my current status in the system after taking a long break with them and other small things about their standard operating procedures and if they had changed), and each time was thrown some kind of loop about repeating the question to the same person who just acknowledged not knowing the answer. Despite being nothing but civil and friendly about this real life comedy playing out in my ears, and the phone call lasting no more than about 90 seconds, the call center personnel was noticeably angry with me by the time they FINALLY got around to taking my name and number to have a simple "call me back" message delivered to the only people apparently capable of answering 2 simple questions about the Westland Labor Ready branch.

My partner is signed up with labor ready, the westland, MI branch. He was called in to be there to do some landscaping work the next day and was asked to be there at 7 a.m. Upon arriving to the location at 7 a.m. he then found out that he was called in as a stand by worker. The person behind the desk was very rude and told him that he was not dressed appropriately to go to work. He was wearing clean stonewashed jeans and a polo shirt his coat since it was cold and his shoes. What he was wearing that wasnt appropriate is beyond me. What exactly does one expect someone who will be digging in dirt and raking leaves and sweeping sidewalks to wear? I have also seen that this company leans towards some people for jobs more than others, which is wrong. I just wanted to write this to show just how displeased I a with this particular labor ready office. I would not refer anyone I know to them as i referred my partner to this location because he was seeking employment and was treated so rudely.

OMG, this place will send you somewhere with 1 description of the job and you go there doing something completely totally different then what is explained. I feel thats very deseptive and sneaky.... They should send someone out to the site and have a look around for their employees safety as well as to ensure that the job we were being sent out to do is what we are doing. That can be a very big conflict of interest one a person is on the job. Speaking from experience. Hell create safety inspection jobs within the company. I wouldnt mind matter fact I would love to go to different job sites to inspect the quality of the job, not only does it ensure that the talents safety is covered but it also allows labor ready to accurately define a job and a talents job duties before sending them out to work... It doesnt take much time to pop into a job location once or twice a month to ensure what is required is what is actually going on.

Worse temp service to work for. They will send you miles away to another city for not even a full days work. And then pay only min wage work for back breaking labor. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY !!!
