Ive been going her for over 3 years now, and I really enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff and regulars. It truly lives up to the non-judgmental stance you see on commercials for Planet Fitness, and there are a wide variety of people with a wide variety of goals who come here. Some are working on strength training, some on overall fitness and health, some just come for the social aspect, but no one is ever looked down upon by anyone else. My only complaint is that sometimes the mens locker room needs more attention than it gets. Sometimes necessary fixes or repairs seem to take forever (light bulb needs changing, sink needs fixing, shower head is broken, etc.). Things always get done, but just feels like it takes a while for it to happen sometimes. Additionally, I was away for a few months and came back to no more soap dispensers in the shower and the scale had been taken away. I can appreciate wanting to keep costs down as far as the soap goes, but I think taking away the scale (to steer clear of any self-judgment, maybe?) just didnt make sense. Overall, though, Ive recommended this location to others and Ill continue to do so. The camaraderie Ive gained in my few years there greatly outweighs any drawbacks thus far.

If you want to do cardio and doing things outside in the beautiful outdoors isnt your thing, then Planet Fitness might be for you. I guess there could be someone outside that might judge you... If youre interested in fitness that involves adding muscle and strength to your body rather than just having an endurance athletes frame, then planet fitness is rude, judgmental, and not equipped for your needs. Planet fitness only has light weight dumbbells for exercises that dont require much weight, like curls. This means that you cant squat, dead lift, bench, press, clean, ect. Basically, any exercise that is efficient at building strength and muscle is not allowed. On top of this quality workouts are discouraged by the gym as making noise while you work out, which is impossible to avoid if youre putting in your best effort, is awarded a mocking and embarrassing lunk alarm being sounded. Ironically, the show Biggest Loser, which partners with planet fitness, will frequently show their contestants making noises during their workouts. Thats because good workouts arent silent. Its fine if you dont want to make noises, but the fact that a gym specifically targets that is shameful.

Ironically the most judgmental gym i have ever been to, yet they claim they are a judgment free zone. As long as you are NOT a true body builder you are welcome. but the minute you exert yourself and "grunt" or "drop" a weight they will sound an alarm to embarrass you. They give out pizza every first monday of the month and candy as you walk in, they dont have dumbells past 60lbs(to discriminate against body building) no free weight bench or smith machine. what i do like about it is mon-fri its 24hrs and they pretty much have good cardio stuff and machines. i would not recommend upgrading to the $20/month that includes a tanning package because the max time you can go in hex is 10 minutes and bed is 15. but for $10 dollars a month i go here and because it is right by my house. So for 10 dollars its worth it. but like i said i wouldnt not do the $20 package it is a waste of time.

Do not join this PF--find another location. The restrooms are filthy. There is mold growing on the sinks and the toilets are rarely cleaned and the garbages full. The facilities are outdated. The staff is not helpful and act like they dont want to be there. I recently visited the TAYLOR PF and all I can say is WOW. The Ypsi PF is a dump compared to the Taylor location. The Taylor PF is very clean, staff was constantly walking around cleaning everything. They also have a lot more staff which makes a huge difference. The facilities are much, much nicer and FAR more aesthetically pleasing. I am a long time member of Ypsi PF, but after seeing the Taylor location I cant justify spending money on a gym with filthy bathrooms, unhelpful staff and out of date (read ugly) facilities. Im done.

I go mainly at night between 11-12. The staff is nice I guess. But they are constantly socializing around the front counter or sitting over a table talking. It makes it awkward to approach the counter as a customer. You either have a group of people turning to look at you while you interrupt their conversation or you gotta wait for someone to come back up to where theyre supposed to be. Their tanning beds and rooms are gross. I prefer the Belleville location. Its bigger, brand new everything and more professional. Its just a 20 minute drive for me. Im a slightly socially awkward person and this washtenaw location makes me uncomfortable. Its really close quarters and too much of a social atmosphere.

I go everyday at midnight. I dont know if Ppl are judging me because I dont look at Ppl when Im on a mission. If the siren goes off that means ur to loud or dropping weights which most likely means your form is off and your lifting too much. Its a place to get a good workout. If its not enough weight for you then move on to the next level...like powerhouse. Youll get judged in any gym people compete and Compare. Get over it and get on ur mission. Execute and stop crying about dust on the walls. Its $20 damn bucks a month. 66 cents a day. If your on a mission trivial things wont matter

The gym is nasty to be honest theres poor cleaning, wrappers from those candies, dust, and this ultimate dirty feeling in the locker room. Ypsi is full of bums who steal- theres no security cams throughout the parking lot for safety even tho midnight workout members leave our cars out as open game. I had my window broke out a month ago. Not sure if it was a desperate ass member or homeless bum but the place has no means or measures of safety or security. I prefer Dearborn because they atleast have a security guard sit in the lot.

One year ago, I tried to call to cancel the membership as I moved out of the area. But I could not cancel it as I needed to do the cancellation onsite or mail the cancellation. I was told that the contract would be terminated automatically if i did not renew the contract. So I let it go. Today, I found out that they keep charging me credit card over the past year. I called again today, but I was told that I cannot cancel the membership by phone and the contract was renewed automatically without my consent. Ridiculously!

Been going for about 4 years. Lots of clean machines. Staff always seems pretty nice when I check in. Wi-Fi can be hit or miss sometimes when theyre real busy, but its a million times better than it used to be. Other customers are usually pretty polite... Except between 5 and 6pm. Then its kind of a madhouse and all the "bros" show up, but Im sure thats true everywhere. I see some reviews say it smells and is too hot, and Id 100% disagree with that. I havent found a gym this nice that doesnt cost five times as much.

I spoke with another Planet Fitness because I was thinking about joining, and it was back home. They said that I could come in and tryout the gym and see how I liked the feel. I didnt end up going because I moved for school. I then contacted this one so I could try the gym first and they said that they would charge me $50 for the day just to TRY the gym. So ill probably just join the YMCA.
