whenever I go here they never have what I need, and I am aware its not the staffs fault. I mostly am understanding when it comes to them not ever being in stock with...well anything Im looking for because the staff is normally very understanding and try there best to find a product closest to what I am looking for. However this last time was unacceptable. I walked in looking for my current eyebrow pencil only to find (naturally) my color wasnt there, at first I was bummed but I continued looking for a similar color only to find that there was only three boxes left in two different colors, out of 6 colors. In disbelief I asked the young lady at the register to see if they had any in back, only to have her tell me no but there was another shipment. Now this is a totally acceptable answer. Apparently to her I "yelled" "why do you guys never have what I need" and I can see how this is irritating to her because it seems like im blaming her. Anyways instead of walking out I decided to give it one last look(because I appreciate how they are normally helpful when their out of products) instead of throwing a fit and storming out. I found a product that might work and brought it up only to get lectured on how I could take my business somewhere else! The point of me shopping there is its close to home and I enjoyed taking my business there, NOT ANYMORE! The only really friendly and has the product stocked is the Ulta in Burnsville. I apologize if I seem rude but this girl really set me off, the fact that shes advising me to go to another store is upsetting, she could have tried to be helpful instead of lecturing me while I was checking out even when I told her several times I understand its not her fault. Retail staff members should want to make the customer come back again instead of driving them away.

I like this Ulta, it has a very "at home feel" with a hint of upscale....I frequently visit it just to browse more than anything or on my bad days AKA no makeup, sweats, and lookin a mess! but I always have a pleasant experience and take my time up and down the aisles. a couple of the older staff do look at me in a disapproving manner or like im lost or about to steal something because I take so long in one aisle, but even they are helpful and frequently ask if I need help..the younger staff are amazing!! they are so nonjudgmental, give you space as you shop but are helpful at the same time..i think they need to hire more younger staff and can the old birds lol...the staffs knowledge of beauty products varies--for example one had never even heard of CC cream but another knew above and beyond on it,but for the most part they all know the popular products/major trends/and upcoming deals....its always well stocked with the popular products, and their clearance section is very big..they have so many nail polishes to choose from. only once they were out of a face product but nothing too major. I like how its organized in that one side is the departmental/high end brands and the other side exlclusively drug store instead of being mixed like other Ultas Ive been to in the past..overall I had a good experience, and will be returning again!

After a terrible experience at Ulta Woodbury a month or so ago, my mind was made up to NEVER walk into an Ulta again. For some reason I chanced it again today at Ulta, Apple Valley. I had no make up on and I was nervous! As I walked through the front doors I was greeted promptly and politely by the girl at the checkout. Right away I noticed two older employees giving me "the look". I kind of wanted to run in the other direction, but I held my head high and walked over to the make up area. Ive been wanting to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush powder for a while now, so I asked the very lovely looking women with a slight Russian accent working in the department about it. She was amazing! Not only did she show me the product, test it on my skin, but she also ended up doing up my whole face! She showed me how to do a smoky eye and how to highlight and contour my face. She was wonderful! Very comfortable to be with and easy to make conversation with. After my last experience at the Ulta in Woodbury, I was so scared that I would be looked down on because I am not your typical 20 something beauty. Galina was such a blessing today. She definitely changed my view of Ulta and I will definitely be going back as long as shes there!

This was the first time I had been inside this Ulta and since they were having a grand re-opening, they had cards for a free makeup demo. There was nothing on the card or in the fine print about having to buy 2 products before being eligible for the demo. I went with 2 of my best friends and one of them just asked a MAC artist if she could "try on" certain lipsticks and she didnt hand her the card for the free demo, she got the demo but my other friend and I (who were willing to buy product after the demo) just handed MAC artists the cards and they explained to us that we had to buy 2-3 products before getting the demo, even though there was no mention of having to buy MAC product beforehand. The artists were also pretty rude. I dont think Ill be going to this location. If we needed to buy product beforehand, thats fine but then...dont put "complimentary makeup demo for coming in"; explain that on the card so as to avoid confusion!

Went into this Ulta looking for a specific product that they had in stock. However, all the products that I wanted were opened and they apparently did not have any unopened ones in the back. Two women were extremely over eager to help with finding products and would not leave me alone even after politely telling them that I would find them if I needed any more assistance, more than three times. The cashier seemed annoyed to have to check if there was a specific product in the back. I had a coupon for a free item with purchase and was informed that they did not carry it. I had better luck with the makeup stores at the Mall of America.

Went in right at 10am to take advantage of a daily deal special for 50% off a specific hair product I love. I was the first customer in the door and they had ONE bottle left. The lady acted annoyed that I dared to ask if they had more (limit 4 per customer). She handed me the one they had and gave a snarky, "sorry." I managed to make it to the Richfield location 15 minutes later where I was able to get the limit of 4 with much more pleasant staff. The AV location is often out of product, but when theres a sale? Stock up a bit more. Highly disappointed in the staff attitude and will be shopping at Richfield instead.

I wouldnt even give them a star but there is no option for that. I walked in with my husband who immediately notice the complete lack of friendliness on the part of the story manager whole actively rolled her eyes at me and pursed her lips for no discernable reason. This is not the first time I have noticed this absolutely unacceptable lack of customer service. I have been forgiving of this behavior in the past, but I dont spend my money to be treated horribly. I wont be spending one more dime in this location.
