My wife gave me a gift card with enough funds for a mens shave and facial after my repeated comments over the last number of months about having someone else shave my face at least once in my life just for the experience. As I walked in, my coat was promptly whisked off of my back as the staff greeted me warmly while begging to make me comfortable. I was offered a choice of a variety of beverages, including coffee and Mimosa. Being that I cant think of a better marriage between two flavors than that of champagne and orange juice, the latter was my first choice but the fact that I would be sitting in my office shortly following my mini-vacation prompted me to opt for the former. I must give credit to the fact that my coffee was not from a plastic container, nor sitting in a stained carafe over a hot plate for a half hour before it reached me. It came straight from an espresso machine, black and bitter; just the way I like it. My host, Brad Schlaeger (who I later found out was the owner) escorted me into a secluded room filled with the soothing sounds of classical music and a neutral decor. Mild fragrances of fruit oils and herbs were present but not overpowering. Obviously absent were the obnoxious flowery odors of a Yankee Candle store I was expecting. A stimulating conversation ensued with a gentleman who was obviously interested in what I had to say. That may not seem like much to some, but for an introvert like me who would rather stare directly into the sun than talk to someone who waits for any pause in a conversation to pontificate about their favorite polarizing political subject, it is a welcome opportunity. I did not have to watch the clock both because the treatment I was receiving was much more than I expected and the time and services I paid for were exceeded by a comfortable margin. Given the choice of a straight-edge and a shaving razor, I would have assumed that the straight-edge, the ubiquitous shaving instrument found in every Spaghetti Western I have ever accidently watched, would have been the preferred method. Brad gently informed me that the optimal end result required the modern shaving razor. I relate the experience of getting a shave from a hand other than my own to the thrill of discovering a barber shop after three decades using cookie cutter haircut franchises to trim my locks. The "Mens Hot Towel Shave and Organic Facial" experience goes far beyond the excitement of the stuffed game head laden walls of a barber shop. Accolades makes the event an experience not easily forgotten, which is a must considering ones facial hair will return the next morning. I am very big on customer service so the poor reviews given to this establishment should not be ignored either by potential clients or by the owner. However, consider the detail I have put into this review an effort that very few establishments receive, because I want the praise I provide to outweigh the criticism I give for those products and services I choose to spend my money on.

I have to admit, I am very disappointed. Me and my girlfriend went yesterday and we were disappointed that we were shorted on our massages. Hers was shorted significantly. We bought 2 1 hour massages on crowd cut which did not list some 50 minute massage rule with 10 minutes of undressing and dressing time. She went in at 5:35 and came out at 6:10. I dont know how that constitutes a 1 hour massage but somehow it does. I went in at 6:15 and came out at 7:05. We have both had many massages in our lives and never before have we ever been told your 1 hour massage will actually be 50 minutes on table because of undressing and dressing. On top of that the masseuse had to fix the automatic massage table for 5-10 minutes while my girlfriend was on the table, and for both of us we had some depuffing time at the end of the massages. Neither of us had ever heard anything like that before. Here is a breakdown of our experiences by time... supposed to start at 5:30 5:30-5:35 undressing 5:35-5:40/45 adjusting table 5:45-6:00 massage 6:00-6:05 selling on benefits of "prestige" club 6:05-6:10 depuffing/dressing The whole experience for my girlfriend felt like the crowdcut deal was a complete scam. Not only did the masseuse say we only get 50 minutes on a deal that clearly says 60, but she didnt even get 50 minutes. My experience knowing my girlfriend was shorted she watched the clock intently masseuse talked to me at 6:20 to go get dressed start at 6:20 (was supposed to start at 6:30) 6:20-6:25 undressing and waiting for masseuse 6:25-6:55 massage 6:55-7:00 depuffing 7:00-7:05 dressing and out(no way this took me 5 minutes) In what world is a 15 minute massage and a 35 minute massage 2 50 minute massages? Feel free to check your security cameras to verify, we saw you have them. While I was in the massage, my girlfriend talked to Kylee to get a confirmation of the massage policies because she had never been to a place that does 10 minutes for dressing/undressing and was rudely addressed that it is 50 on and 10 off the table. Severely disappointing. We both politely smiled, thanked them and tipped because that is what we do. We were looking forward to this after a seriously hard week and were severely disappointed. Unless they make this right, I will NEVER suggest to anyone to go here or ever go back myself.

I used to get my hair done at Accolades a long, long time ago and eventually left for a different salon (largely due to the fact that I moved but also I wasnt super attached, either). I got a groupon recently for a Mani/Pedi/Facial here and went as a birthday treat. I was very impressed with the experience and felt a number of positive changes had been made since the last time I was there. My facial was by a woman who invented the Arigato line of products they now carry (when last I visited this salon, they carried only Aveda products). I explained some of my skincare concerns, and she gave me a number of answers that made total sense - which was a little mind-blowing to me, as Ive been to many other salons in the past few years and no one has EVER suggested these answers to me before. My skin used to be very oily, this woman told me that now my skin is actually very dry, which is why the products I was using didnt work. No one else Ive ever gone to has told me this (and you would think that would be obvious). She seemed totally knowledable and willing to explain to me why she said what she did. She suggested some products, which I purchased and have been using since with GREAT results. This is truly a skincare issue Ive been frustrated about for many years, and I feel like Ive finally found something that works. I wont ever be switching to a different skincare line again. The mani/pedi was also extremely enjoyable. The woman was friendly and I felt like we had some fun conversations while working on my nails. I was very pleased with the results as well. It all made for a very good birthday treat! The only reason I dont give them a full 5 stars is that Im not certain the costs at full-price (i.e. not groupon) are within my price range, although they do offer a good package deal. But I had never considered going back to this salon prior to this since my impression from years ago wasnt thrilling. This experience was wonderful enough to completely change my mind, so its quote likely that Ill save up and go back. Thank you guys!
