Originally, I was very excited to try out this salon. I extensively read through the website and the reviews of others, and it seemed like they were truly experts at curly hair. I was specifically looking for experts because Im transitioning my hair to my naturally curly state, which is a challenging process. I was looking for tips and to help reshape my hair. However, I was deeply disappointed with the end the result - especially after thoroughly discussing what I liked and didnt like, even with pictures. While my stylist spent a very good amount of time working on bringing out my natural curls, she completely ignored the majority of my hair that has been chemically straightened. She didnt scrunch up the curls to bring more wave or anything - which she even admitted in the end to forgetting. While we all make mistakes - I specifically paid for the master stylist to work on my hair to avoid these kind of mistakes. The result was a large mop of hair that was curly near the scalp, but bone straight on the ends. She was about to let me walk out the door with bigger (and unacceptable) hair than I came in with - until I reminded her that I was on my way to an engagement party. Which then she promptly pinned up - because, again, it was not fit to be seen in public. Beyond the hair experience. The salon studio was very nice and tidy. But I wondered why all the other customers were offered tea and beverages, while I was never offered anything. I would have thought that being a first-time customer, they would have certainly done that. I wont be returning.

I moved to the Twin Cities 2 1/2 years ago and have had nothing but really bad haircuts. I dont have super curly hair, but if it isnt cut right it looks like a hot mess. Im going away next week and will undoubtedly run into my ex-fiance. The thought of him seeing me like this made me break out in hives. So, I Googled Curly Hair Salon and up pops Twisted Hare. Im familiar with the DevaCurl product, so with nothing to lose I made an appointment for a Curly Cut with MJ. First, this is not your typical haircut. She analyzed my (horrible) haircut and we discussed what needed to be done. She proceeded to cut my hair dry which, at first glance, looks like the technique of a 3 year old. But as she was cutting, an actual hairstyle emerged. Then she took me to the sink and used the DevaCurl No-Poo and conditioner on me. It was fascinating to see the whole process and to learn the right way to style curly hair. Its pretty elaborate, so Im not sure if I have the commitment for it, but I learned a lot. I can honestly say I have finally found someone who knows how to cut my hair in Minnesota. Thankfully, I dont have to sell my house and move back to California. Thanks, MJ!!

I know this must sound strange given all the positive reviews -- and Ive tried giving it a couple of weeks to see if the haircut improved with age -- but this was seriously the worst haircut Ive ever had, Every time I look in the mirror, I kick myself for paying an outlandish amount to have my hair look like this -- totally amateurish stuff -- pieces sticking out, no layering or whatever they do to make one area flow into another, hair flattening where it shouldnt and sticking up in other places. Im really sick about it. I had made an appointment for a dry cut with their senior stylist but she looked at my hair and decided it should be cut wet (although she then charged me the higher price for the dry cut.) Maybe that was the problem -- she may be great at dry cuts and never have learned to cut hair wet. Whatever the case, I now look pretty sad. She was a very pleasant person but I dont feel she really listened to me about the way I wanted the hair to turn out. Needless to say I wont go back.

I spent years trying to find a salon/hair stylist I could trust to cut my hair (which is incredibly curly). I believe the worst experience I had was when I went to a hair appointment and the stylist had to ask her manager how to go about cutting my hair. Needless to say, I never really had more than a trim done. Then the day came when I desperately wanted a dramatic change to the length of my hair - thank goodness I complimented a woman on her haircut and she managed to recommend East 42nd Street Salon. Now when my curly-haired comrades ask me about my hair management, I do not hesitate to recommend it myself. Seriously, you cant go wrong here. They know what they are doing and you will leave with a hairstyle that is not remotely triangle-like (happy day!) and is perfectly lovely.

MJ was my stylist and she was amazing! My long time stylist from another salon left and I was dreading trying to find another person who was good with curly hair. Ive had so many bad haircuts! This hair cut was amazing and the products and hair cut were reasonably priced for a nicer salon. The best part was that she showed me how to style it in a way that was easy and doable for me and my routine. MJ was easy to talk to and down to earth as well. I didnt feel weird about how bad my hair had gotten. Now my hair is easy and fast to style no blow dryer or major time consuming hair styling. I usually feel like my hair wont look as good as it did when the stylist did it after but this time I was able to duplicate the look. Ill be back for my next haircut and more products from MJ.

I booked a curly haircut with Brynn. She did cut my hair while it was dry, but she pulled it straight with her hands and started cutting layers into it. Shes supposed to know the deva method of cutting individual curls - thats why I picked this salon. I assumed it was a mistake, so I asked her about her experience cutting curly hair. She said she does a combination of both. Huh? I stopped her as she was cutting the layers to warn her about shrinkage, but it was too late. I ended up with random pieces on the top that barely come down to my ears and the rest is past my shoulders. I had even warned her that the top layer of my hair is the curliest and the hair underneath has looser curls. Thats why layers turn into a mullet for me.

TERRIBLE! Went here 3 times to have my hair highlighted. (I paid the first time and they insisted on fixing it sincere second time since I payed 150$ to have it done. They didnt make it any better the second time so they insisted that they do it one more time after a month to let my hair get a little healthier. I went in today and came out looking the exact same as when I went in! Very upset that Ive put my hair through this kind of treatment with no good results.). I can say that they make curles look absolutely fabulous. Cutting and styling I saw amazing things. I myself do not have curly hair unfortunately. DO NOT GO HERE FOR COLOR. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
