I had heard both good and bad reviews, but I wanted to try this for myself. First of all, the drinks took 20 minutes to make and while they were decent, they were over priced. $8 for a small marg and $5 for a draft beer is pretty pricey. When we finally got to our table it took forever to order and they dont bring out free chips and salsa. We went ahead and got 2 orders of chips anyway, which I will say they were very fresh and tasted good. About 1 minute before our order came out our waiter informed us that they ran out of rice.. REALLY?! How does that happen? They did not offer to give us a discount on our meal but offered us mashed potatoes or french fires. I am eating mexican food, why would I even want either of those? My tacos were extremely sub par, I got 2 and couldnt even finish 1, the enfrioladas had a 4 inch chicken bone in it and the other meal we got they forgot to stuff half of the shell with meat. I didnt even try the fries they brought. This was just so disappointing and I dont know what the owner is trying to do with the menu. Every other menu item is mexican, then american, with no consistency or organization. I will not be going back.

Im not sure that Ive ever written a food review for any restaurants so Id say this is fairly big endorsement. Me and my my business partners have been frequenting Catrinas for about half a year now and are hooked (seriously, like two/three times a week). Chipotle is a distant memory... rearview mirror, gonzo. The food is incredible. Fresh, bursting with flavor and packed with variety. The meat selection is sublime (check out the Tinga). The ingredients are fresh, the lettuce is green, the guac is amazing. The different sauce selection is KEY.. you must try the daily selection. If youre looking for a badass burrito that can also double for a good arm workout this is the joint. I havent even touched on the people serving you... theyre the best. Friendly, fast and always willing to let you sample something before buying. This place has been an amazing addition to our area and I know well be frequenting the place for years to come.. likely more than once a week :) *ALSO NO ECOLI, SO THERE IS THAT.

The samples were awesome...staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. The food...not many words for it. EFFIN delicious maybe?? There are only a couple places I feel I can go to get REAL, GOOD, Mexican and this is now one of them. Folks have compared this spot to Chipotle but I gotta disagree...I really dig Chipotle, believe that but this spot has it no doubt!! A little goofy kinda location in a strip mall with unleased spaces next to them I dont know I would just think that this place and how straight up awesome it is would be in its own building or in a different part of town or something...I dont know if that makes any kind of sense to anybody else but probably not. Unfortunately, its pretty easy to just pass by it and not even know it is there. Im just a little butt hurt that I didnt hit this spot up earlier!! Ill most definitely be back soon and often!

First time experience: Welcoming, authentic and delicious. Consider it somewhere between a Chipotle/Qdoba and a sit diwn Mexican place...but only in a really great way. Some better choices than faster food but not overwhelming like a lot of sit down places. Upon entering one of the owners, Lorenzo, was quite welcoming and gave us a great sample of their meats. This frankly just made my decision all the more difficult. All were really delicious, particularly their Carnitas and Pollo Verde. I had a torta that was SO good. We also had a burrito bowl and zero complaints from the other diner. I will be back very soon for sure. Great type of local establishment that deserves heaps of business, for all the right reasons. **UPDATE, AUG 2017** -Yeah pretty much still killing it. Great service, even better food.

Never written one of these before, but then again, never had a reason to until I ate at Catrinas. Staff is very kind and helpful, when asked if we were new to the place (we were) they provided us with a sampling of their proteins - all of which were delicious - and told if we needed help, they could assist with good pairings of toppings and salsas. The fact that the food is amazing is even better! The carnitas and babacoa are to die for and the others (chorizo, green chili chicken and others) are damn good. Casual, modern atmosphere with a Chipotle-style setup (with MUCH better food and service) means its a great place to pick up lunch or dine with friends and family. Highly reccommended for anyone who likes to eat!

This is probably the worst mexican food Ive ever had if i could have given them 0 stars i would have, I got a tostada, and keep in mind I am Hispanic so going to Catrinas Im expecting authentic food, the tostada shell was completely soggy because of the refried beans, refried beans are not meant to be liquidy they need to be thick, otherwise the soggy shell wouldnt have happened, I live two minutes away and by the time I got home I picked it up and it completely collapsed and was wet, I went back to get a new one without the beans and the employees were nice about it, it was fine once i took the beans off but every Hispanic knows a tostada isnt a tostada without the beans.

Just stopped at Catrinas after my neighbor told me it was great—he wasnt lying. When I arrived they asked if I was a first time customer, and immediately got me a little sampling of their various meats—along with a nice explanation of each. The meats were also so good that I couldnt decided on just one and instead ordered the 3 tacos with 3 different meats (pollo verde, carnitas & pastor). In addition to the flavorful meats they also offer a wide range of unique salsas that all had some really amazing and very authentic flavors. Its so nice to have such a great option in an area that lacks unique dining options.

Fantastic service and fantastic food. The owners are very friendly and are there most of the time, one of them even told me that they didnt have a microwave in their kitchen. All of the food is authentic Mexican food and is prepared fresh, after one bite youll be able to tell! The selection is fantastic and the decor is awesome, its very fun and has subtle hints at Mexican culture but it isnt overly cheery or tacky. Since their fairly recent opening, Ive been there often and have never been disappointed with what Ive ordered, no matter what it is, and Im an extremely picky eater.

Ive been going since they first opened. The food and price is awesome. Customer service is great too. I echo everything positive thats been mentioned about the owner and staff. With this place being out closer to where I live and work, I havent had the need to go into the cities for good Mexican food. Where else in MN can you get chicharron as a protein option? If you can handle heat, try the quemada. Its a flavorful smokey hot sauce that coats everything so if you order a bowl and mix your food up, the flavor will be evenly distributed. I usually get guac to cool it down.
