My KitchenAid mixer was completely off-kilter (rocking back and forth violently every time I switch it on) due to my having switched out the beater that came w/ it for a non-KitchenAid issue beater thats made to scrape the bowl as it beats - when I called the KitchenAid hotline, the rep (after berating me for daring to switch out their beater for a non-KA one) informed me that I was going to have to get my mixer "completely recalibrated" and that it might cost upwards of $200, depending on the extent of the damage. He provided me with a number to a local place where I could have it repaired - when I called that number (which I believe, based on other Yelp reviews, is associated with Har Mar Lock and Keys KitchenAid repair service extension), "Barry" (whose name I am again gleaning from previous Yelp reviews) very kindly and patiently talked me over the phone through all the necessary steps to get my mixer balanced again, saving me both the 30+ minute drive to Falcon Heights (made nightmarish due to the unavoidable companionship of my little hellions) and the repair fee (which he actually quoted and which in all fairness, sounds completely and utterly reasonable). He also didnt out-and-out say it, and since this was over the phone I couldnt see his face, but I could sort of hear him rolling his eyes at the KitchenAid reps attempt to shame me for switching out the beater (which while not made by KA, was specifically designed to fit KA appliances - Im not a total buffoon! Just the same, will stop using that beater...). Nobody in this day and age expects the decency and kindness I was so casually shown by a total stranger who after all stood to make a profit from me - I told him I was keeping his number and calling him for future repairs, and he said that I could, but hes 70 years old (!!!) and might not be doing this for much longer - so I thought the least I could do was write this review and post it wherever it might be seen. I used Har Mar Lock and Key because I drive by it regularly and because it appeared to get positive reviews. After experiencing their service, Im quite certain the reviews online are written by people associated with the business. Here are my complaints: We called to have our two exterior door/locks serviced. They removed the hardware from one door/lock and said theyd need to order parts for the other. They said it would take a few weeks. 6 weeks later, and no call from them. We called and they said they were still waiting for parts. Fast forward another 6 weeks and still no word from them. We then proceeded to get the run around. I stopped by today (6 months after their first visit to our house). The man behind the counter, who I believe is the owner, played ignorant and said hed need to wait until his service men are back to get some answers. I left my information and said I would come back every day this week until I got my lock parts back. I dont expect well ever see them again. If, by luck, they come through Ill change this rating.

User beware...Kleve, the owner, is not the same guy he used to be! Weve used Har Mar locks for 10 years while we opened 9 stores - Kleve did all but 1 store over those years, and a pretty good job too. Though, this last job he did, was awful! He butchered a brand new door, then broke our security system. When we asked him to fix it and pay the bill for what he broke, instead of calling us to work out the details, one evening he came into our 24 hour facility and stole the locks right off our front and back door. He left the doors open and unlocked all night, risking the safety of our clientele. This was only 2 months after installing the locks in the first place. Having such a good relationship with him for so many years, to be suddenly treated like this, leaves me to believe that Kleve is no longer capable of running a business. I strongly recommend avoiding Har Mar lock and key.

Quick Fix

They Installed a lock on my store door on Jan 28 2016, We were officially open on June 1 2016. The lock didnt work fine to begin with, then when it completely stopped working i called them and then a guy called Kleve stopped by to check it out, he spent 3 min working on it and then handed me a bill of $64.50 , when i asked him if that is covered under warranty or if he can give me a discount he just ignored my question. poor work and customer service. This is the definition of rip off. Not Recommended at all .

Very unhelpful service and he seemed to enjoy that fact. Couldnt wait to tell me no. One of them "shaking his head no before you even finish the question" type of guys. He acted like he worked for the DMV!. Will never return. MADE IT TO MIDWAY LOCKSMITH JUST IN TIME. FRIENDLY SERVICE, QUICK, $5.25! $11.50 at Har Mar..

After locking my keys in my car, and dealing with a horrible experience with another locksmith, I was fortunate enough to call Har Mar. They got to where I was stranded in 10 minutes, opened the door in 1 minute, and it was for a reasonable price. Great service, that I hope I dont have to use again.
