Thankfully I never became a member here but I can share my experience as a potential customer. The price and amenities are appealing on the surface but its all for show. If youre going to tour the place do so at the time of day and on the day of the week that you intend to use the gym so you have a better idea of how full it gets. When you go to tour they ask you to fill out some card with your contact info on it before they tour you around. Absolutely DO NOT fill this out, or fill it out with fake information on it. My wife and I decided to tour this place and we have gotten at least 5 calls between us despite directly asking to have both numbers taken off the list every time they call and them assuring us that we would be. The attractive price is what likely has you still considering this place after all of these negative reviews. The upfront costs are quite high compared to the average monthly rate. The reason they do this is that they are counting on you starting a membership and not coming back. If a business has faith in their product or service, the money should be made off the monthly rate, not the intro price. If you make it through the tour and sit at their desk thats when sales pitch really comes out. The tour guy will lie to you and tell you that today only we will waive this fee of $100 per membership, but if you come back tomorrow you have to pay it! This fee isnt even mentioned on the website and is waived again on subsequent phone calls. No Thanks. A business shouldnt need to lie to sign up a customer. Do yourselves a favor and skip this place. EDIT 10.14.2014 Just received yet another call from this place from James who assured me when he called two weeks ago that I was removed from this list. Check out the BBB overview of this business, apparently the entire chain operates this way.

The Xperience Fitness in Vadnais Heights, is in a very nice location, that is the endcap on a very nice strip mall with some other very good businesses. (Eriks, Famous Footwear, Chipotle, and close to the Target. I have been somewhat of a seasonal member here on and off for many years when it was Golds, and while I always mostly did cardio, I never really got into the weights. As fall has rolled around again, I decided to sign back up with Xperience, after looking at many other gyms. It seems like there are lots, and lots of choices, and every Gym caters to different users. If your a do-it-your-selfer there lots of choices, with loads being kind of small. There are also the fancy, expensive "luxury" gyms. SO, if your looking for the perfect middle sized gym, look at Xperience. Since becoming Xperience, it seems like they are really looking at Personal Training. I actually have never had a personal trainer before, and therefore never really used the weights. This all changed when I decided to challenge myself, and begin 2 sessions per week with a personal trainer. I was assigned Torey Rogness, and he has been absolutely amazing. What is really great now, is that I am now learning 2 things: 1) How to do the machines correctly without injuring myself, and 2) how to use the machines in the correct sequence, by pairing the machines in a system that works the different opposing muscle groups for the best results. I have had great luck with Torey, and I highly recommend trying personal training. Its really one of the best investments you can ever make in yourself. Max Kostecki

I originally got my membership in 2012 right before it changed from Golds Gym to Xperience Fitness, and continued going 7 days per week for about a year and a half until I had to move out of state. It only seemed to be a change in name, as the equipment and staff remained the same. Two years later, Im in town for the holidays. Needing a place to work out for the week, I checked out the competition but found myself coming back to XF Vadnais to get weight training done. The membership price was, and still is, on point. $10 month-to-month with a once-yearly fee of around $40. No commitment, but you do pay a month in advance, so cancellations must be made well before you intend to leave. Some equipment such as barbells, squat racks, a hex bar, HEAVY dumbbells up to 150 lbs are not present at other locations but are at XF Vadnais Heights. While there are no platforms specifically designated for deadlfiting, the floor is thick and durable such that deadlifts can be performed without issue, typically near the squat racks. Chalk is "technically" not allowed, but probably just to discourage people from making a mess. Individuals who are clean about it wont have issues chalking up their hands for heavy dumbbell and barbell work. Though, Im not saying this is a meathead gym. Just that more serious people tend to come here over other places because it has equipment youll need. Theres a good mix of novice and advanced, men and women, young to the elderly, and individuals focused on strength training or aerobic exercise.

If you need a cheap gym located nearby, this might be a good deal. Just wait for their promos before signing up to avoid the $80 fee. For about $10 a month, you really cant complain because you do get what you pay for. I tried out their personal trainer services for a short time, it was good because the trainer was really good and motivating. Then he quit, so Ive since avoided getting another person. I cant say the same about other peoples experiences, but I usually go late at night and get my workout done. Its a gym, and not world class at that. Make sure you wipe your machines before and after use, because you never know when the last time it was wiped down. The lockers arent in the best shape as its pretty dirty. Guys lockers are pretty bad, always wet on the floors, always got some sort of dirt in the lockers. Some of the gym members that use the sauna dont abide by the rules, so it ruins the experience. Keep complaining until someone does something is my motto. I pay for services, Im gonna get the services I paid for. Just remember to review their cancellation policy (its always subject to change) and document everything.

I have been a member at Xperience Fitness Vadnais Heights for nearly three years and I would never dream of leaving this gym. I have gone through different stages in my fitness journey and Xperience has had something for me during each phase. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and I always enjoy the atmosphere while I workout. There are plenty of free weights, lifting machines, and cardio equipment for everyone. You may have to share if you go at a high traffic time (like 4pm-7pm), but this is likely to occur at any gym as lots of people go right after they get off work. The facilities are kept very clean and in working order. I love the movie room, the pool and sauna, the classes available, and the free weights area with lots of mirror space. Im a female competitive powerlifter and know that many gyms are not powerlifter-friendly due to our heavy use of the weights but everyone at Xperience has been very supportive of my goals and training. There is so much that this gym has to offer. I highly recommend it to ANYONE who is looking for a positive environment to achieve their fitness goals!
