I have never had a gym tell me if they activate a free pass they begged me to use, the price will go up. They literally stalk you until you come in, then immediately hit you with the sales before you can try out the gym even one day. The girl gave us a tour, offered some prices, i said we wld work out that day and think abt it. She then proceeds with the sale talk "let my manager see if he can give you a better price" which is ofcourse he is the closer when she cant get someone to sign up. So nope cant think abt it while i check out the gym. The sales guy comes in like he is on drugs and starts talkin fast. When I say "can we just work out one time before deciding " he now wants to take our ids so that we HAVE TO COME BACK TO HIM BEFORE WE LEAVE. HE TOLD US THIS TO OUR FACE. AND SAID "WE GIVE OUT FREE PASSES AND PEOPLE JUST USE THEM AND NEVER SIGN UP" WOW HOW TACKY. NOT EVERYONE THAT USES THE PASSES WANTS TO SIGN UP. YOU WIN SOME YOU LOSE SOME. ITS PART OF MARKETING MY GOD. ITS HORRIBLE. MIND YOU I WASNT SHOPPING FOR A GYM THIS GIRL JUST FOUND ME AT MY JOB AMD OFFERED A FREE PASS. SO YES I WANTED ONE DAY TO THINK ABT IT. I talked to the head mnager when i left and he he wld let us have the same price if we joined before the pass was up. (Which is how it shld be duh) but i told him abt the other guy keeping our ids forcing us to come back and talk to him and not activating our passes until we joined ...he said well we givw out passes and then ppl dnt sign up.YOU GUYS ARE SUPER TACKY. PLEASE DONT LET MCDONALDS KNOCK AT MY DOOR IF I DNT USE THE COUPON THEY SENT ME THAT I DIDNT ASK FOR. SMH UGLY.

Unbelievable. That is the best word to describe what happened tonight. As a member and regular volleyball player, a large group of us (approximately 15-20 members) have been playing weekly on Wednesday evenings at the West St.Paul location. We typically have the gym from 7pm-11pm (closing time). However tonight we were rudely rounded up and told to get off the court per the General Managers new rule of volleyball from 7pm-10pm. Keep in mind nothing is posted with respect to gym rules or volleyball times nor is a schedule even available upon request. About 17 members were treated very rudely by the staff with no alternative solutions or comprimises made. Secondly, this gym has verbally offered to allow volleyball to members on Friday nights. Many of our volleyball players came to the gym on Friday to play volleyball as promised, and much to our surprise the volleyball net was not set up. When we inquired with the staff we were rudely told volleyball was only offered on Wednesdays and they have never been told of such scheduling. We were told to come back the following week to play. Unfortantely, this occurred for three weeks straight when we finally gave up. In summary this gym suffers from an extreme lack of communication. The day to day employees are not aware of any rules or schedules nor do they even care to assist member when a issue occurs. I would highly suggest management revamp the employee training and at least get notices and schedules in written form so that everyone is on the same page. Instead LA Fitness now has 17 angry members.

Do not Join this Gym. Hot tub is always disgusting. Kids are not allow to use the pool even if you want to train them. Not a family friendly place. They have people that kinda watch your kids but they usually just stare at their phones. Their personal trainers are very aggressive sales people who constantly bug you making working out uncomfortable if you dont want to talk to them. The worst is trying to cancel your membership. Completely stupid process where you have to go online fill out a form and send in by mail. Yes I said by mail...... Or you can go in Monday thru Friday 9-5 and hope the 1 person who can do this for you is there. Completely unethical, poor business practices. Dont do business with these guys. There are plenty of great Family friendly gyms around. I recommend the Grove. Pros New equipment is about the only good thing about this place

This is a smaller LA Fitness compared to the others. The only positive compared to the other ones around (university, Oakdale) is that the locker rooms are not carpeted and dont smell. There are pretty good basketball games that go on here Monday, Tuesday, and Friday around 4 or 5 pm but like all the other LA Fitness there is only one court (except the Burnsville location). The total downfall if you do want to lift. They have hexagonal (dodecagon) plates meaning dead lifting is a pain. Possible but still sucks. They only have two power racks also. They tend to be the bottle neck of my workout. The cardio machines have their own tvs with some channels (news, sports). All in all it is worth it only if you can get a discount on the initiation fee (which is crazy expensive), and have a $20 reimbursement from health insurance plans.

Im not sure why others give negative reviews of this place. If you are familiar with LA Fitness you know this is a larger health club. There are a lot of machines and space in the club, but there is also a large member base. Still, I have never had an issue getting a machine in a timely manor, and Ive never been asked to get off a machine to let another member use it. Staff is friendly and leaves me alone, which is what I want. They are a bit pushy up front about up-selling personal trainers, but I made it clear I wasnt interested and I havent been bothered since. The price for this gym is why I give it 5 stars - for me I paid $149 initiation fee, but my monthly payment is only $25 - of which $20 is reimbursed by my health insurance. So for $5 a month Ill take a gym with dozens of treadmills, bikes and a pool.

I was so excited for this new club, then I was seriously disappointed. It looks impressive at first because its new. Then I realized all of the cardio machines are very low end and basic and without built-in fans. Other gyms have unique cardio machine (like lateral, run/walk/jog, cross-fit etc). The gym is ALWAYS hot, no floor fans or ceiling fans. The cardio area is located on the second floor and the heat rises. Work out classes are minimal and at odd hours. No classes in the morning besides spin. Pool is super small and no water classes. The exercise balls are always flat. I mentioned all these items to the front desk several times and nothing changed, so I cancelled my membership after 3 months. You get what you pay for here.

So I been going for a month and all of the sudden I check my visits on the LA fitness app and it didnt account for my last visit of the month so which now I wont get my health insurance reimbursement credit from my insurance because I needed that visit for my 12th visit to get my credit! So upon speaking with the operations manager he says there is nothing he can do about or can add it on there because u cant go back previous months when its the 1st of month today and that I have to contact member services shaking my head! He was rude and doesnt care about whether I get reimbursed I will be looking for a new gym if I dont get my credit!
