I found CrossFit Woodbury in June of 2010 shortly after the gym opened. After spending the past four years in and out of the “Globo Gym” and running mile after mile on the roads training for marathons and not seeing any real improvement, I was looking for something different, challenging, and fun. Thankfully, CrossFit Woodbury and Coach Matt Burns delivered all of that and more. Having very limited experience lifting weights and even less experience with Olympic lifting my introduction to CrossFit started with the “On Ramp” program. The one on one coaching I experienced during this time not only allowed me to learn a lot in short period of time, but also ensured that I was following safe and correct technique for all the new lifts and exercises I was learning. While I would never say that I haven’t been sore, I will stress that I have never been injured – the coaching and personal attention is great! I cannot stress enough how thankful I am that I found CrossFit. Prior to doing this I thought I was in pretty good shape, CrossFit quickly showed me that true physical fitness is much more than being able to run a few miles or mindlessly move on a machine. Now I know I am working towards true physical fitness – I have a long way to go to get there, but I know with this program I will improve every day.

I love it here. The people are really nice, encouraging, and always willing to help. I have multiple injuries and the coaches always help adapt the workout so I can do them, get stronger, and not injure myself. Its a family friendly environment. I bring my kids, because theres a kids area for them to stay while we do the WOD (this was really important to me/our family). Many other families bring their kids too. Im always exhausted and energized when were done for the day. I recommend CrossFit Woodbury to anyone and everyone.

Crossfit Woodbury has my unconditional recommendation to everyone who is looking to get into better, active shape. The training here provides usable whole-body strength and endurance. Matt, the head coach, makes sure to teach correct form for all exercises so that injuries do not occur. With tools like rowers, kettlebells, jump ropes, and body weight exercises the workouts are constantly changing so there is never a dull, boring routine. Crossfit Woodbury is a great place to train and get into the best shape of your life.

I was originally intimidated by the idea of joining a cross fit gym, but CFW has a friendly atmosphere where all ages and abilities are welcome. I have achieved better results doing cross fit 3x a week for three months than I ever did at regular gyms working out 5x a week!
