Ive only been going to Bodyfit since January, but I honestly believe its the best gym Ive ever trained at. I started with a Groupon where I could try classes at different gyms all over KC and wasnt interested at all in a month-to-month membership anywhere--after the FIRST class at Bodyfit (kickboxing with Trey) I was ready to sign up for a membership. Upon signing up, I was happy to find that each instructor cares deeply about proper technique and form to make sure were performing to the best of our abilities. I am seriously injury-prone, so its important to me to learn moves the correct way so I dont hurt myself. OVERALL: -the instructors make every class authentic, safe, and SO MUCH FUN. -Everyone becomes like a family, honestly, and they are so supportive through gains and setbacks. -Bodyfit is all about learning proper technique--keeps you safe. -The instructors (especially David) take a personal interest in your journey to fitness, positively encouraging you. -FREE NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING. Yes. -Lot of good variety in classes. -Great shower facilities for people who want to go straight to work after a morning class. YOGA: Ive only been to a few classes, but the instructors were wonderful. They ask about injuries before class starts so they can help you with modifications, if needed. Their classes are great for all levels because they, again, offer modifications to meet your skills. There are a TON of different types of yoga to try out. And the yoga studio is a beautiful, relaxing space to practice in. KICKBOXING: again, the instructors just rock. Trey and Corey come up with great classes where were able to get a solid workout in while also perfecting our technique. Both are incredibly encouraging and always offer engaging classes, switching up combos and exercises to make sure class is always new and fun. JIU JITSU: when I started at Bodyfit, I had never done jiu jitsu and Im having the best time learning at this gym! The instructors, David and Devin, explain and demonstrate technique well and make sure that we are practicing safely. They foster a positive, respectful, learning environment that helps us all progress without getting discouraged or hurt. That is so important to me as I regularly train with guys much bigger than me. WEIGHT TRAINING: I havent done Bodyfit classes yet, but I like Technique a lot because, once again, David shows us how to do technique properly, which is incredibly important in lifting weights so we dont injure ourselves. His classes are challenging and fun and he always positively encourages me to work to my full potential. I love everything about the gym and the extended family Ive found there!

So I took my first step in 4 years in the gym today, and I couldnt be happier that I chose BodyFitKC. After several health issues to include cancer and joint fusion surgeries in both feet, I was extremely apprehensive about walking into a work out class where i didnt know anyone. However, it was an incredible experience!! The trainer, David, I think, was incredible! He was involved and attentive in making sure my technique an form were correct, but at the same time he did not make me feel "dumb" or "judged". It is very much so "at your pace" while in a group setting. The positive side of this is that you are still motivated by the people around you, but you dont feel ashamed or inadequate if you are at a different fitness level than them. The workout was rotation based. 4 exercises/movements(dumbell benchpress, burpee-he gave an alternate technique if needed, squats, and kettlebell lifts), with numerous rounds (round 1 we did 1 rep of each of the 4 movements, then round 2= 2 reps of each exercise, round 3=3 reps, and so on up to 10. Then to decrease back down 9 to 1. Even though I didnt even complete the workout(I made it up to round 8) I can certainly tell Ive worked my tail off!!!! I legs and arms feel like jelly and it definitely helped to get my day started!! I cant wait to come back and take more classes(My next class will likely be a muscle soreness relief yoga class) and i will certainly post reviews of those as well.

Absolutely Amazing!!! I did not believe the 5 star rating walking into the gym but 2 sessions later I saw what the hype was about. There is no gym that I have been to that has gotten me in such good shape! I hate working out but David, the main trainer, goes above and beyond to help each person with their individual needs and goals. He does a wonderful job of blending the line of trainer and friend. He really wants you to push your boundaries and many days he waned me to reach my goal more than I did. Its easy to skip the gym but David is the type of guy who keeps bringing you back time and time again and keeps you going when you want to give up. Just to use myself as an example, day 1 I had never done a deadlift. Within 1.5 months I was maxing out at 325 lbs. If you want to really get your entire body in shape, and you have tried working out before but never saw the results you wanted (as I did at 3 different gyms at 3 different times in my life) then this gym is for you. Yes it may be a bit more expensive than a $10-20 gym membership at a normal gym but it is completely worth it as you see the results you want and you see them very quickly (if you put the effort). "Fitness is a journey, not a destination" Thank you David!!! (Seriously, I cannot explain in words what an awesome trainer and person he is!)

I was a cardio-fit person who was used to running and doing spin class and bar method. But I wasnt strong and had little to no muscle definition. I was clueless about weight lifting, but knew I needed to do something. I had no idea where to begin, and I also had huge anxiety about trying new gyms because I didnt want some beefy dude barking at me. Bodyfit feels like a huge supportive crowd of friends who work with you, help you, and encourage you. Its a place for very advanced persons to work alongside the inexperienced people like me, because the trainers help you customize your own workout to your skillset. The training is personal. The people are down to earth. There are no meat head grunters. There is not the pushy-cult environment of cross-fit, though the work we do is similar on many days. The girls are so friendly and if you want to change it up, there is yoga, kick-boxing, and jiujitsu classes taught by those who have decades of experience including professional fights. I love the workouts, Im shocked at how much Ive improved in just three months. My favorite thing about this gym are the genuine friendships I never expected to make.

What can I can say about this gym? As a former minor league pitcher for the Colorado Rockies organization, I can honestly say in my 15 years of actively working out, this is the best gym Ive ever been a member of. I sincerely mean this when Im talking about the coaches, challenging workouts, friendly community, great price, location, and numerous workout options the facility provides. For example, you can have balance of doing a high intensity workout and then run upstairs for a hot yoga session. Or, if youre interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, they have one of the best instuctors in the KC area. Its the best of both worlds all bundled into one facility. I have done Crossfit for over 5 years all over the country and BodyFit classes are just as intense and the coaches provide excellent instruction for proper technique to prevent injury. Ive been a member for almost a year now and my deadlifts, squat, bench, clean and jerk have all shot up. I get extremely excited everyday I show up to sweat! Just drop-in for one of their classes and I promise you that youll enjoy it.
