I agree with all the horrible reviews! They are a bunch of scammers with THE WORST BUSINESS MODEL KNOWN TO MAN! I signed up and then realized that I couldnt make it as often as I thought I would while I finished up my residency. So I put the account on hold...well time flies when youre a doctor and I didnt realize that my hold or freeze only lasted one year (probably in the fine print that they never told you about). Then I started getting bills, well instead of just automatically unfreezing my account they start billing me for all the months after my year was up. No notice or anything that the freeze was over. I couldnt get corporate on the phone EVER. I went to the gym to talk to them and they kept talking in circles about how its the customers responsibility to unfreeze the account and just to know when im supposed to pay. Well, i had already payed UP FRONT for my membership. Im still trying to work it all out and I can only hope that I can cancel my membership without any other repercussions. DO NOT EVER JOIN THIS GYM OR ANY OTHER GOLDS GYM IN KANSAS CITY. They are all smooth talking liars who are out to steal all the money they can get out of you. And the kicker was that I went in to unfreeze my membership and they told me "congrats, you now have a free year." NO I DONT, I PAYED FOR THIS YEAR!!!! It is not free....

This gym and its entire corporation are a bunch of thieves. They have hidden fees in there fine print that cost me over $300 at the end of my contract. 6 months after I stopped going I got a call from a collection agency saying I owed all this money to golds because in there contract it stated that they needed a "written" 60 day notice for cancelation. I had told the employees several times that I was not returning, rather than giving me a heads up they did nothing. When you finally go to cancel you must email the headquarters bc these idiots do not know what customer service means. When I finally did that, I did not get a response back so I had to call up to there headquarters ( getting the number from the front desk guy was like pulling teeth) and I waited on the phone for 45 min to confirm my cancelation. When I asked what was the purpose of a 60 day notice was in the contract none of the employees had a response. Thats because a 60 day notice for a gym membership serves no other purpose than to scam the customers who are about to part ways with the gym. I also didnt receive a call from the gym within that 6 months I had left. Instead they let the charges build up so they could send me a nice fat bill. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! BECAUSE ONCE YOU JOIN, TRYING TO LEAVE IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE.

If you dont understand simple math and the 9.95 sign then thats unfortunate, but the sign is guerilla marketing 101 and designed to compete with so called fitness cl I bs that sethe pizza and bagels, which we we never do. That goes against helping clients reach their goals. We also provide so many more amenities than planet fitness. Child care for one is huge for families or single parent homes that need that in order to relieve stress and workout. We have tanning, big deal, but how about multiple trainers that actually know what they are doing not one unpaid guy that just got out of pinnacle and has no clue what the difference between short and long acting carbohydrate is??? All of our group exercise classes incuded like yoga, pilates, body pump, body combat, etc. We even have combat cardio avd boxing for men and women with best instructors and most experienced in town. If you want 9.95 its $200 down that equals $320 for year. Thats hell of a deal for WG membership, all access, world wide! If not we will gladly do 30 down, 30 monthly. Thats $390 over 12 months. Its not that difficult. The gym is worth $40 per month in my estimation with steam and sauna available. Genesis wants 55 monthly and 3 year contract.

I have exercised in this gym location for several years, prior to the Worlds Gym brand of Golds Gym. I always thought that the staff of the facility was most welcoming previously, but since the brand change, I have been very disappointed. The front desk personnel rarely acknowledge my entrance with more than frowns or grunts. Rarely do staff wander about the gym to encourage members. Rarely do staff exhort members to rack weights or wipe down equipment and benches, Cleanliness of the facility is only fair, especially as there is no "culture" for cleaning equipment/benches. Now, I am an old guy, so I realize that my concerns are NOT the same as the young body builders. However, I do have options. I will continue working out here for the duration of my contract. Update, 08/10/16: During my recent visit, there were NO paper towels for cleaning equipment. I reported this and was told that the towels were "on order". This is ridiculous! I also noticed that there was no entrance to the womens dressing room, and a woman complained loudly about the fact that the womens bathroom by the fountains near the front office was not working and stank. I dont understand.

We had a fairly decent relationship with these guys for about 3 months. The gym has some older equipment, and the cardio equipment only has about half the machines that still work, but its not crowded and generally a pleasant place. I was EXTREMELY careful not to give them my bank account info....I paid by check and refused to sign anything saying they could take money out of my account. Then it happened anyways. $25 missing from my account, with no prior notice. They dont tell you that, its hidden somewhere in the mysterious "contract" in the fine print. BE VERY CAREFUL DEALING WITH THESE GUYS. you cant even cancel your membership easily, they require written letter. APparently yelling over the phone "CANCEL THE EFFING MEMBERSHIP" isnt clear enough for them. As far as Im concerned, they can eat it. Wont ever do business with them again. Nothing more than thieves. I dont see how taking money out of a bank account is even legal, but they do it, and complaining does nothing.

Read some of the reviews. Wow! I cant believe some people are quite little babies when it comes to working out. If you need a cheerleader to stand by you... they have very good trainers you can hire, otherwise make a friend who will encourage you. For the gym itself... love the machines for weight lifting and working your muscles and all the cardio machines. I enjoy putting on my music or watch something interesting on tv while I do my cardio. Time flies by. At the end... the steam room is my favorite. Jaime and Mike are awesome. Very helpful. All the staff have been. I like the atmosphere. When I see people who are serious about weight training, body building, or just being fit, it gives me a boost and makes me want to workout harder. Have not tried the classes yet, but they have several to choose from. Not quite five stars but close.
