We had our wedding reception at the Thompson alumni center, 250 people, plated meal. Brandeis was helpful up until the week of the wedding. Once we paid there was no more accommodations or flexibility. We had some last minute cancellations 5 days before our wedding and they wouldnt change the meal count. I also had the same problem as the other person on here where they would not allow us to take the extra meals we had paid for home! Despite being told in the beginning that we could! Once you pay its all downhill. Food was good but I was furious that they recinded on their word to allow us to take home the meals sitting on the tables untouched! I wouldnt go to a restaurant, pay for dinner, and leave it on the table! We also brought in some decor for the tables for reception, they did not listen to how I wanted it done so my tables looked sloppy (if it wasnt for our amazing florist ....I would have freaked out), items were missing from the stuff we had brought over that week to decorate with (guest book, garter, luminaries, rhinestones). Never did find them. Also had the wedding partys personal belongings rifled thru up in the board room and items removed from our purses, stolen. Very sad considering you pay a considerable Amt to have them cater your event and items get lost and stolen. Should perhaps investigate their staff more rather than just deny it. They also said we ran out of booze an hour an a half into our event. So kept telling us to buy more, considering we were down in our guest count hard to believe we would run out of the 4 kegs and 40 bottles of wine....but no way to disprove what they told us. All in all I would say for the price you pay for brandeis, Food was decent but with the disorganization, the inability to follow thru on directions, missing items, and not being able to remove food you paid for due to liability reasons, go elsewhere.

We had our wedding reception at the Livestock Exchange Building and it was catered by Brandeis Catering. We worked with Carolyn (wedding coordinator) and had a fantastic experience! She is very sweet and super helpful! She told me over and over again that I could call, text or email her with any questions or concerns that I had! She put together a solid timeline early on which really helped everything run smoothly! I also feel like this venue is all inclusive. At other places, you have to pay to get the cake cut and tap the keg and on and on. Here, the price is the room rental (which is small!) and the cost of the food/drink. There is also a 20% service charge but it does not include gratuity. The room rental includes a lot. Small centerpieces/candles, linens, tables, chairs, etc. Thanks to Carolyn and Betty (our day-of coordinator), everything went perfectly and the food was delicious! We got many comments that it was the best wedding food ever! Everyone loved the ballroom...it was gorgeous! The high ceilings, the floors, the stage! It was my dream wedding! There are only 2 cons I can think of....1) we were not allowed to take our leftover food home and 2) we have very little time for set-up and tear-down. We basically had Sat AM to set up and then everything had to be removed after the end. Dont plan to leave it there till the next day! This was a bummer for us and we had to hire people to help with this tight timeline. Other than that, it was perfect!

We went to a wedding reception there this weekend and though the room is large and spacious but the food was awful. It was a sit down chicken or steak dinner. The chicken was pressed, boiled with some gravy on top with instant whipped potatoes. No flavor and very dry. The steak was also boiled and seared on only one side, the entire table sent back their steak since it was rare and really bloody, the entire room seemed to be doing so. After the steak was returned to the kitchen it took 20 minutes for them to bring chicken meals to replace the steak. Eventually they brought a steak meal back that ranged from overly done to rare again. One table member got up after eating a piece of the very overly done gray looking piece of meat after it tasted so bad she felt she needed the restroom. The kids chicken finger meal was the best food at the dinner, the left overs were shared around. The service attendants were very nice but some did not seem to understand questions. We ask for extra silverware since they picked ours up with the bad meal and never got some back, we had to use the forks from the wedding cake table. We asked where a changing table was for our 2 yr old and told there was not one in the building by an attendant, had to change our kid on the carpet to then find out there was a family bathroom around the corner from where they told us there was not one. Not impressed at all.

I had a small reception hosted at the UNO alumni house a few years back. Brandeis was the only option for catering. Overall the food and the service were ok. My biggest complaint however, was they wouldnt allow me to take any food (that I have paid for) home, quoting it was due to regulations. There were at least 80% of the food I paid for left behind. I was told they were going to the trash!!! I was outraged and the main service person simply refused my repeated request on taking my food home. I can understand when you are at a buffet, you are not allowed to take food home. But in this case, I paid for every single piece of beef that is in the pan. I still cant believe I was not allowed to take home the product I paid for. Later I have heard from people within the business saying some times the cater simply resell the food or just let the employee take them home!!! Brandeis attitude toward this matter was obnoxious, devious and un-comprehensible. Not recommended unless you are being forced to use them.

No recommendation: They catered my Daughters wedding at the Stockyard Exchange Building.Everything was great but then over 20+ people became sick due to Norovirus and E-coli. My Daughter and Son-in law sent them a letter asking for reimbursement of about $4,000.00 for the meal but they are silent on the situation and they will not own up to it. The health department was called in after we had so many people at the emergency room. The grooms Grandma (80yrs old) was in the hospital for 3 days. Come on Brandeis...all we are asking for is the money back from the reception but you are silent. I wil not be silent!
