The place has become bad to worse. One server looks like he is at war with the world when he serves you, not one smile. The pot roast must have been dangerously over salted. The cakes are dry and must have been made a week ago (Im right, arent I?). There is so much fat in the frosting that I cannot taste the flavor of chocolate. I got the chocolate raspberry cake and I could not taste an OUNCE of raspberry. Furthermore, the server made no effort to dress the cake with the chocolate and creme anglaise or caramel sauces like the ritual at BWC. The BWC potatoes looked like slop and were tasteless. There will be some stuck-up people who will just say that this place is oh so amazing because they want to feel all preppy and "oh, so worth my S***," but usually their taste buds are absolutely absent. As long as they pay 20 dollars a plate and see an expensive atmosphere with a crowd of their stuck-up kind, someone can serve them dog food and they wont care. If you care about going to a restaurant for FOOD, not to feel more worth it than you really are, dont come close to this place. And if you arent one of the millionaires in the Woodlands, be expected to be treated like 3rd class on the Titanic as well. My God...

Ive eaten here a few times because my company often buys the office lunch. I have never found anything here worth while. In fact, now when they announce that theyre ordering from Black Walnut I opt out. Im not the only one in my office that doesnt care for them, either. They dont list their desserts on their online menu. I understand they might change from day to day but at least give a general idea of what might be offered. Just saying "cakes, pies, and cheesecake" doesnt cut it when youre placing a To-Go order for numerous people who arent in your facility to see for themselves. If you call to ask what they have, the employees typically rattle off things faster than you can write down. All the while sounding like youre inconveniencing them because you dared to call and ask. Everytime we have placed a To-Go order, something is always wrong or missing altogether. We have had to go back up there numerous times to correct our order. All in all, this is definitely not a place I want to visit again. It says alot when someone is willing to pass up a free meal.

Overall my wife and i had a good experience at the new location. I expect the experience to only improve with time. We went in for breakfast this morning and it was apparent that things are still a little unpolished. The new location is very large and appropriately addresses the space issues of the previous location. I love the wood tile in the great room and it inspired me to to think about using it on my patio. The dining room was comfortable and inviting. The order counter was slow and more registers are needed to service the rush periods. The food actually tasted very good and it was apparent that some time was spent on spicing. Ingredients seem fresh and of good quality. One of our meals was a little cold as it was probably made first and then sat waiting on the second meal to finish. We are likely to become regulars at this new location since we live close by. The competition is increasing rapidly in the area so the restaurant will need to perform to stay at the top of our list. It seems to be a winning strategy so I think it will.

First, the food was very good. I had the Tatonka burger and my partner had the Cuban sandwich. Second, This was first time we went to the BWC. I was expecting a traditional sit down restaurant ie hostess, waiters, etc. This is a glorified upscale cafeteria restaurant. You stand in line, order food, get a buzzer, find a table to sit down(have fun with that experience during dinner peak hours), buzzer rings, you walk up to counter and pick up food. Third, the food is pricey considering the above description in No. 2. Basically, cost for two adults not drinking alcohol just short of $50. Two sandwiches, two drinks and two desserts. Thats nuts. But then again, its The Woodlands. An area where those who live and visit there obviously have plenty of disposable income and dont think a second about dropping that amount on food. I cant imagine the cost for a family of four. Overall I did enjoy the food but overall experience left something to be desired.

I am so disappointed in this new location. I am a visitor from out of town and fell in love with the food and especially the atmosphere at the research Forrest location in the woodlands. the new location is so very disappointing and i must say i will not be back. the whole atmosphere is gone.It feels more like a cafeteria then a cool hangout. The antique decor and atmosphere are all gone and not to mention the music they played at the new location was the pitts. The old location played cool jazz music and older generation music. This new location was playing some hip hop local radio station. The stainless steel in the new place lacks any charm and takes away from the whole feeling of just a cool older jazzy place like the old one. I guess they feel bigger is better but, not in this case. they lost me as a customer.....One more thing the food seemed to taste different to ..very bland and no flavor

Really cant believe that Im giving this 2 stars. Me and my husband have been going to the Black Walnut Cafe for years, we just stopped in for a quick frappe, espresso and some moondoggy cookies but were quickly turned off of the cookies do to little flies all over them. Then my frappe was put on the counter with a cup 3/4 of the cup full. The girl was like I dont know what happened its not full but here you go. I asked her to make me another and she did. The 2nd came out the same way and she said we usually fill the rest with whip cream. Now I have been buying this same frappe there for a few years now and never have I received on not full. So I take the frappe and leave to head to my car and I take a drink it was straight coffee ice and cream. So I ordered a caramel frappe. I decided I would just take a refund. My husbands espresso was good. Dont eat any of the pastries if you go there.

Worst customer service ever. I wanted to have breakfast with a friend and needed to take my dog as I was just driving through. I called the evening before and asked if they allowed dogs on the patio and they said yes. So the next morning I met up with my friend at the restaurant, we order and are waiting for our food when the manager comes out to tell us to leave because of the dog. When I said I called yesterday and asked if the dog was allowed and told yes he acted flippant and told me I needed to leave. Mind we had already paid for our food. I was not offered a refund or anything, instead I had to wait as my friend got our food packaged to go. Now dont get me wrong I am fine with places having a no dogs on patio policy, however when I call the night before and ask I expect the right answer, and I sure dont expect a manager to treat us rudely. Never eating at any Black Walnut Cafe ever again.
