I absolutely love this gym! I first became a member in 2009, when going to Lombardi on campus was no longer an option, and have no regrets. I’ve had top-notch service ever since, minus a huge snafu on the part of Sports West management where they closed the pool for three months (my primary reason for working out there) in 2015, and did an absolutely abominable job of communicating what the plans were. I almost cancelled my membership over it, but they have since tried to patch things up with their members and things are smooth sailing. Its fantastic that this is a true 24-hour gym. I have only been to Sports West a handful of times between 11 PM and 4 AM, but it is nice to sometimes shake up the routine, and its great that they offer this flexibility. The equipment is a tad on the older side, but they keep it well maintained, and at least fix it when it breaks. I religiously attend Masters swimming Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and they always have wonderful coaches and a good group to swim with. I am in the pool religiously, and unfortunately, the pool is rather small. It’s more of a 3.5 lane pool than a 4 lane, but most of the time people are gracious and will share the space. The spin classes are great and they recently added brand new spin bikes with power and cadence monitors! As a triathlete, this is an invaluable training tool, and I’m really looking forward to the rowers they will be adding soon. I was also pleased that I could add my wife to my current membership plan for only $25/month more, and we both have been getting our money’s worth since she joined. I highly recommend the Power Yoga classes, and the other classes that my wife has attended she has positive feedback on as well. They have a TRX rack, plenty of kettlebells, a weight sled, and even some huge tires for a killer workout. There are also tons of treadmills and stationary bikes too, and a large basketball court which is also shared class space. My biggest gripe is that their rowing machines suck. They really need to replace that gear and organize the upstairs better. I would fully expect a gym of this size to have four working, new(ish) rowing machines instead of two broken ones. The locker rooms are a bit on the old side, but really you should be spending your time exercising and not in the locker. There are some couches, tables, and other areas for hanging out, if you’re into that, and a lot of people will socialize or grab a smoothie after their workout. The sauna and steam room are nice, and now that the pool renovations are done, it is looking much better. The staff are super friendly, and only on the rare occasion will one take too long talking to wait on the customers trying to check in. Normally, you give your member number and off you go. I’ve never done personal training, but it’s there if you want it. Overall, 4.5/5 in my book. Huge bang for the bank, it’s convenient and at a great location in Midtown, and they have a full range of classes, equipment, and services available. There’s even massage next door, even if it is very pricey. This gym caters to the needs and culture of Reno in a spectacular way, and as long as management really focuses on further improvements and changes in the future, it will continue to be the best gym in Reno. I really, really hope they start spending time and energy focusing on the younger crowd, not just the 50+ demographic that is typically there. Fortunately, that means the 19 year olds from campus are nowhere to be found.

Where to even begin? This place has gone downhill and continued to let me down: 1. No parking, and people park where theyre not supposed to. That parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. 2. Front desk people are chatty with each other. It takes me less than 10 seconds to give you my number, so do your job and I can get on with my life. 3. Machines have hair in the footholds, dust in the creases and people leave their old towels and wipes on the ground in and in the cup holders. There is a good chance youll find gum in there too. 4. Dirty towels. Sufficed to say, a trip to the doctor is necessary to get rid of whatever was on them. 5. Machines are constantly broken. The headphones jack one one machine has been one-sided for months now, and despite my comments and reports to the reception desk, nothing seems to get done about it and everything else about that place. It seems as though they do just enough to get by, if just enough is a half-assed job.

The club is immaculate, amenities are always kept up in pristine condition, ie. the steam room and dry sauna. The saline pool is in wonderful condition, perfect for lap swimming. They have any sort of equipment you may need up to and including TRX , functional fitness body accoutrements, balls, bands, etc...also: if you are on injury reserve there are excellent alternatives to help you get back into wellness. The trainers are knowledgable and highly qualified. Whether you are an athlete, recovering from a stroke or simply need some professional guidance, there are an assortment of trainers to choose from. The club offers a Pilates studio and many other extras, racquetball, boxing, yoga, swimming classes, water classes. The price is right, they dont take advantage of you and the membership coordinators are extremely helpful and will give you options to fit your needs, not their commission structure. I cant say enough about this club, its a best kept secret in Reno.

I was a member over 10 years and only use the pool. The management shut the pool down with no warning and wouldnt give a credit or put account on hold for the 4 to 6 weeks the pool is closed. Also, the front desk staff is often curt and rude at times and the only reason I stayed is because I was lazy and didnt want the hassle of changing gyms. There are gyms with new equipment and nicer staff and less cost, though when the pool is open it is convenient...if you can get a lane or if theres not a class going on...No customer service for a long time member, basically told to like it or lump it and go some where else, but not until they billed me for a month I couldnt use the pool.

Great Team. High quality club. Great Amenities. Pool, Spa, Steam Room, Sauna... even Towel Service! Their trainers are excellent, skilled and care. Eric Sell in particular spent a year getting me into the best shape of my adult life... before I spent the following year sitting and stressing the health away. ;-) Members are solid friends even after not seeing them until years later. I made the mistake of leaving for scheduling/money reasons... but Im coming back and bringing my family with me. :-)

Great gym, with lots of equipment and fantastic instructors. One of the few gyms with a half olympic size pool, suitable for swim and tri training. New spin bikes with power meters and color code enabled displays. Lunch-time classes of 45 minutes on these bikes do help improve conditioning within a reasonably short time. Most classes included in membership. Great, clean shower facilities with steam room and sauna.

Overall a good gym. First, the air at the end of the pool is blowing cold and makes it unbearable to enjoy a swim. Its been like this since I joined. The recumbent bikes, stairmasters and elliptical bikes are too close together making it difficult to get on them. On the bright side, they have towel service, lockers, coffee, juice bar and so far the staff has been great to me.
