The comments listed below are those of the staffs... management asked all the staff to put up a nice comment because they were only getting bad reviews. Hmm.... Where to start...... lets start with the owner.... He is greedy he only sees $, cheap, snake, 300lbs overweight (approx) etc. Wonder why the hot water isnt working? The boilers not out he didnt pay the bill. Why is there no water or drinks in the machine? No smoothies? towel service unavailable? Same song and dance he didnt pay his bills. Companies started to refuse service because they want thier money. New staff every 2 weeks... overworked, underpaid, abused employees... who would want to work there? Club rush or game room is cool except half the the games are broken and need repair never get fixed and theyve had the same games since they opened 2yrs ago. Kidz kornor or babysitting room is a nightmare sick kids running around everywhere, 2 staff for 30 or more kids, STAFF HAS NO 1ST AID or CPR TRAINING!!!! Its hard to figure out who they are since they where jeans and sweatshirts no name tag no nothing. The pool is beautiful.... but i would like to get out of the pool without my bathing suit disintegrating off my body, my skin itchy red and irritated and the hot tub to be open and the water not look black... The rock wall is an amazing waste of space i think ive seen it open once oh and it costs extra to use. The gym floor could be an obstcyle course weights scattered everywhere, machines place in the way, Personal Training using all the machines..... if your lucky to get a machine ull b extra lucky if it works... THE ENCHANCEMENT FEE... charged me $25 for "enhancements aka kids locker room".. where are these enhancements? if anything your club is going down the drain i cant wait til my membership runs out to be done working with such a Scum bag, Scum bags big mouth wife whom annonces herself as the owners wife and strolls around the locker room naked and this company. Better Business Bureau should shut you down for your shady business practices and con-artist ways. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HEALTH CLUB!!!!!

Ive been a member for 2 years and I only stay because its the only big gym option around. The staff is miserable and always different. You rarely recognize any of the employees. 90% of the machines are broken at any point in time its either the TV doesnt work or the sound doesnt work. The company doesnt care- they are never fixed. I dont understand how a new gym can have so many broken items. The temperate is never correct is either way too hot or freezing cold. Its outrageously expensive and they charge a maintenance fee in October of $25- bullshit. The cleaning staff literally vacuums around your feet and is so awkward. They dont have female cleaners for the female locker room and the male cleaners just march in with no regard for whose in the womens locker room (some of them are really sketchy). The only compliment I can give is that the pool seems to be cleaned daily and I like the lifeguard/pool staff. Everyone else is offensively rude.

Ive been going to the gym for almost a year, and like it. My 2 year old son loves the day care (after he got used to me dropping him off), now he goes right up to most of the girls and gives them all hugs. My kids love the pool. I like their instructors, and tend to now take their classes more then just using machines. Some of the equipment has their issues in the cardio area-some of the elliptical machines could be swapped out. My only big complaint would be that the locker room sometimes smells. I dont think a carpet is the best idea when you have a pool and people showering, because its going to smell. Its starting to look a little run down, and I hope that they are just waiting for the new year to fix things like the broken hand sanitizer. Its a very functional gym, and every gym will have their issues.

The club, overall, is deteriorating. The machines (treadmills, etc..) need to be replaced. Some are loud, many have trouble with sound and video. Its a crapshoot getting a machine that works well. They charge every member a "maintenance fee" in the fall, so I dont know why the old, tired machines remain. The staff is constantly changing. The classes are good and they try to mix it up, but theyre limited and the schedule often changes. They are attempting some small group-personal training workout classes that look cool, but members pay enough already for monthly memberships and shouldnt be charged extra to partake in these. I cant speak about the pool because I dont use it, nor do I use the locker rooms. I think the gym is clean. There are always staff cleaning while I am there.

Make sure you GET A LOCK!!!! They really should offer cheap locks to buy or rent if you forget yours. We went for our 7 day free trial and were robbed of all the cash in our wallet. As we walked out another man had his ipod stolen. It was too bad. Just Get a Lock, otherwise we have enjoyed it so far. They really should put some postings up to warn people. We understand its our fault but it was our first day there and didnt have a choice. They didnt tell us that there were some other lockers, another member told us about them after the theft. We were bummed but are willing to give it a try for a bit longer. Loved the pool and LOVE the childrens area. I havent seen my little ones so happy to play. Its like a beach with no sand. wonderful! Hope to continue to go.

Kids Club rated R...My husband and I heard a lot about the club so we went for a vip visit. We looked at the kids corner and found the two employees in the kids corner were flirting, paying more attention to each other than to the small kids. I called and asked if this is how the kids corner is staffed and they said they never had any complaints. Well make this your first complaint. I would not have my kids in that kids corner. When they have young children in the room they should be ensuring the kids are having fun and are safe while members are working out. Is there a no dating policy in the workout club for employees at least in the kids corner??? Little eyes are watching....

If you plan to join the Salem Workout Club for the pool you could save yourself a great deal of money by not joining. The pool gets closed for six weeks a year , 80%of the week days is occupied by the Team Mates Swimming team that take over the lap pool and very often in the weekends the pool is closed to the club members in order to host the Team Mates Swimming Events. So, your membership fee will be used to subsidize the swim team because we will seldom have opportunity to use the pool.

While I like the facility overall there are a couple of things they need to address IMO. First the equipment could be better maintained as far as cardio. The most blatant being the Express trainers specifically the pefals. Secondly I have needed to contact them by phone twice and was not able to, today is a Sunday afternoon before a holiday and I would like to know what the holiday hours are. I cannot find it on the website and they are not answering the phone.
