Best deal in Bayonne. I was a member of BFCC (community something 22nd & Ave. E, formerly YMCA), Impact, City Gym and Forum one time or another. I looked at Planet and New York Health Club after Impact closed. I moved to Bayonne in 2005. Ive been lifting for 30 years. I dont need my hand held. Im perfectly happy with an iron head gym. Given that I of a certain age and knee condition, I need a high quality elliptical to develop the concentrated effort I need (criticism of BFCC ), an adult set of free weights (criticism of Planet), something walkable (criticism of NYHC) something that is economical (criticism of NYHC) and is open (criticism of Impact). This is a nation wide franchise that is well thought out. The only thing actually "retro" is the Flash Gordon decor, and bright yellow does take that in a different direction. It is wired. I think there is a radio station set up in Arizona (franchise home) that streams the music on the PA. It probably streams the movie that is set up in a theater with ten cardio machines (showed a "Matrix" and the latest "Three Musketeers" on the two days I checked). I dont use aps that want to look at my contacts, but there is one. The elliptical is the latest. There are about 30 settings, including constant Metabolic Equivalents (METS). I can watch Bloomberg or CNBC, set it up to 8.5 for ten minutes, get my heart rate solidly into the 90%+ range, then back it off to 7.8 and run off 500 calories in half an hour. There is some sort of I-Phone cable off it, but Im Android. They have all the free weights. My days of 130 lb dumbbell bench press are over, but the rack goes to 100 lb+. They also have equivalents to most of the machines youve seen. There is one weirdy in the abdominal area that really gets low abdominal as well as a leg raise, something I have not trained with in a while. I need to see if I feel it day after tomorrow. They have 8-10 abdominal machines. I do miss an upright abdominal machine (easier to breathe), but they have two similar prone machines. I have not looked to see if there is parking in the back- if you are out by seven am no problem with the street, or the city lot a 1/2 block away towards Ave. E. Update- Not open when I arrived 5:45 on December 31, 2014- nothing posted for the holiday, I asked about Holiday schedule before Christmas. Waited outside twenty minutes- outgoing message still says not open yet, no Franchisee Complaint number on the national web site. I guess I get to work a little early today. Knocked off a star- Ive never arrived to find a gym closed that wasnt out of business.

I do not know if they care about reviews but I will do my due deligence warning other customers. Called in the morning talked with a Guy called himself Peter. I asked about prices and he offered a 3 days pass and tour. Fixed an appointment around 6:30 pm went and a lady at front desk would not honor the pass reasoning my license is from Florida. I explained I recently moved and have not updated license and that she can see my Bayonne public library card . She called the manager and kept me waiting for over 10 minutes no response. Disappointed left the gym. But happy my first impression is the last. Poor management and poor customer service. 1. Why you would ask someone to visit your facility 2. Why you would then not honor your appointments 3. Think logically, am I coming all the way from Florida just to excercise in your circus like gym for 3 days. This means they dont know what are they doing

I have to say that this is the most ridiculous gym ever. First of all the place is a mess. The HVAC units leak all over the floor, so instead of fixing them they place garbage cans to catch the water. The machines are usually broken, or drenched from the user before. The funniest portion is that I moved away and was really nice and sincere trying to get them my information so that I can cancel my account. Today, the gentleman hung up on me because I asked why they didnt have a fax machine. He also told me that the manager is the only person that can do this, and hes out until next week. I really hope if youre looking for a gym in Bayonne, you look elsewhere.

I am only writing this review because I think it is ridiculous that the stereo keeps shutting off in the middle of a zumba group class. Back in June I stopped going to the classes because of this. After two months of paying for a VIP membership and not going to the gym, I figured that they should of bought new stereo equipment by then. I was wrong. I stepped into the Zumba class and off goes the music. Why dont they just bring a technician in or buy a new sound system.

Relatively new gym with great staff who are always helpfully and friendly. Its very clean most of the time. Lots of space to move around. All equipment is new and high quality. Overall its an excellent gym and its definitely worth the price. Only one minor issue I have is with warm room temperature, while almost always the gym temperature is comfortable and doesnt go higher than 70, some days the air feels stale and the AC is not on or not cold enough.

Everyone is really nice! The gym is nice and clean. There are many varieties of machines and even a movie theater so you can watch a movie while working out! Its awesome!

The Cancellation process is utter nonsense. They really make you jump through hoops to cancel your membership, even when youre out of contract.
