I saw a few of the other reviews, i have to disagree.. i am not being a hater.. the fact is this is first an formost a buissness and its all about getting your money!! a "gym" that gives away free pizza every week, right there in the gym while people are working out???? a " gym" that gives candy treats at the counter? a " gym" where 90% of the people "working out" there, are doing exercises incorrectly, and no experienced trainers going around to correct and help?? i am a fitness instructor and have worked in and managed a few gyms in the past, when gyms were gyms.. ( they were all bought out by the corporations ) i have to give this " gym" and the other one on forest ave, a bad review, because and most importantly, NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE MEMBER! its run and operated by KIDS! kids going to college who just need a some money.. they dont do anything. the up keep of the gym is poor, the bathrooms smell, and are always out of paper towels. the dumbells are not put back where they belong, and you have to look for them when you need them. there are spray deoderizer or air freshners spraying out on the members because they are mounted in all the areas where people are working out.. so people get sprayed.. the workers are not in shape themselves, and cant help anyone anyway. but there are a few kids working there that like to work out themselves while working.. so i stopped going because all of these things annoyed me.. this company attracts people who just want to pay very llittle to belong to a "gym".. and thats just what you will get! very little.....

Do to a job change on mine, I came into the South Ave. Staten Island NY location over 2 years ago and signed a paper to cancel my membership. Since then this gym has been charging my card- I have called and asked many times for them to please stop. (I paid my CC not to be put into collections while I attempted to have them stop) I was told I had to come in again to cancel bc the employee at the time must have "forgot" to scan in my paper. The employee incompetency is costing me over $600. I was told to produce my copy from over 2 years ago and was basically told by the manager Danielle Schechtman that I was lying. She is very rude, condescending and laughed while I stressed to her that I did cancel my account. She said there was nothing she can do for me. I never had an issue with this gym until I attempted to cancel my account. They have been fraudulently charging me over 2 years and claim I never followed their procedure to come into the gym to cancel when I know I did. I am now fighting them with my credit card company. It is not fair they can keep charging you based on a paper that an employee misplaced obviously!

I read the recent reviews to see if things got better at planet fitness. I was reconsidering my decision to NOT sign up to their facilities a year ago, because the kids they hired had no clue about how to treat a PAYING CUSTOMER!!! I was relieved to see that Staten islands planet fitness is STILL getting bad reviews about their customer service. Im relieved because it says my initial GUT FEELING was right. I would have regretted signing up a year ago to use their gyms. The staff were LUNK HEADS a year ago and it appears, based on the reviews Im reading, that management kept hiring, or never got rid of, the idiots they had there a year ago. It sucks because they had such a good idea in theory. But, in practice, they failed to execute what should have been a great service to the public. I cant wait for them to go out of business so that another fitness center can come to Staten Island. Until then Ill ride my bicycle!!!

I liked the gym and thought that for the price it was decent. Then I decided to get the Black Card for a little more, which has a little more benefits and its a One year contract. So because of economical issues I called two days ago to cancel my contract and she told me it was about $57 dollars (or something like that) to cancel, and I would have to come in to do it. I was planning to go in today to do this, but exactly today I got a charge of $41.73, so I called them to find out what this was and it turns out they charged me an annual fee - Even though it has NOT been a year since I first got my contract!! Ive only had this membership for 6 months! I dont see that as fair or right. So now theyre saying Id have to pay the annual fee PLUS the fee to cancel my contract!!! Im not happy at all & I will warn others about this.

Not feeling it the machines feel and look like they are way too close together especially the exercise bikes and weight machines. Im a black card holder and brought my fiance that has a white card at the other one on the island and they wanted her license and a copy of her white card thats ridiculous,if someones a guest that you would like to make a customer dont treat them like they are unwanted. She was so disgusted because she had to run to the car just to get her license because of course who carries their license in the gym? Unbelievable

You cant beat the price at Planet Fitness - $10 per month for a general membership. This location offers many elliptical machines, treadmills, bikes, weight machines, etc. The hours are perfect - 24 hours Monday - Friday and 7am-7pm on Saturday and Sunday. I usually go at 3:00 during the week and it is almost always empty. I never have to wait to use any machines. They do ask they you clean the machines once you have finished using them. The locker room and changing/shower facilities are always clean.

Was pleasantly surprised by this gym. Nice, clean, staff very friendly. Not as crowded as I was expecting. I think because its off the beaten path in Staten Island, less people go there. Parking Lot can get a bit crazy on the weekends since its in a strip mall and there is a modells and chucky cheese place there.. Only minor issue are lockers. They seem to be all banged up and sometimes its a pain in the backside to get a lock on and off... but a small price to pay for the price you do pay..lol

Very poor customer service. I wanted to bring a friend to the gym to try it out for the day. They wanted to charge her $20. When she declined, they try to upsell her with a membership plus a prorated monthly fee. When I asked to speak to a manager, I didnt receive a return phone call (even after three attempts). I also tried calling the operations manager, but didnt receive a phone call back either. Customer service is your business card. I will not renew my membership after the year.
