FAMILY. If I were writing an article about my experience at CEBJJ, FAMILY would be the title. Not only is there a strong sense of family among students and the head instructor, Josef Manuel, this is also clearly a place where families that play together, stay together. Parents, kids, relatives, this is a joint venture. It is about supporting and being supported, caring and being cared for. If you are a family person, you will fit in here. If you are NOT a family person, because maybe your experience with family was not the greatest (like mine), then you will fit in here. Because if you didnt have a family before, you have one now. It is so hard to choose a martial art for yourself and/or your kid. At the beginning, all those names sound the same, karate, tae kwon do, muay thai, aikido. I went through this myself years ago. In my mind everything was just another name for karate. As I got more and more embedded in the martial arts I began to understand what makes Brazilian jiu-jitsu stand out. First of all, jiu-jitsu is a ground game. Its grappling. But its not just about grappling people, even though that can be helpful if someone attacks you because most fights end on the ground. Its about grappling with so many things: with problems, with your demons, with yourself. Its about learning to deal with obstacles and overcome them. And the first thing you have to remember is it is incremental. It is not all or nothing. It is one step at a time. And sometimes you will take a step back but thats part of the process. At the end of the day you will see your progress going steadily forward. Jiu-jitsu has helped me so much in my life and I have known Sensei Josef for years and I can say that he is someone who can trust 100%. He will lead the way, he will stand beside you, he will get you where you are going, just like family is supposed to do. And CEBJJ is affiliated with one of the greatest of the greats in BJJ, Robson Moura. Robson is great not just because of his unbelievable skill but because of his unbelievable heart. He had to overcome the most incredible adversity before he even got started on his path and he is a constant reminder that anything you or your child want to do, you can do, if you just try. So why not try? Instead of spending money, why not invest it? BJJ is not the easiest thing at first, its just like life. But also just like life, its addictive, and fascinating, and keeps you guessing but also keeps you wanting to see whats around the next bend. You will not find a more technical or caring instructor than Josef Manuel and you will not find a more incredible martial artist, legend, and man than Robson Moura. I wish everybody good luck on their bjj journey and I hope people will come back and tell me about their experiences.

Cutting Edge is a professional establishment in which u can learn self defense as well as train u for razor sharp techniques in the art of Jiu Jitsu.Sensei treats his students as if they were his family and his only concern is helping them succeed in the goals they have set forth when coming to Cutting Edge.He not only wants his students to do great on the mat but he inspires them to also do great in life as everyday can pose road blocks and situations which could be overwhelming.Cutting Edge not only strengthens you physical but mentally as well.Sensei and his team at Cutting Edge Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are true leaders and i commend them for all there hard work.I also know of a situation in which Sensei had dismis one of his students who turned out to be a sexual predator and to never return as he does not put his students in uncomfortable situations.I believe he handled the situation quick and effectively with protecting his students which was his main concern. If any one has any negative feed back to say about such a great establishment,u can bet that this person is the one who was discharged from attending a school that is honored and dedicated to the art of Jiu Jitsu.

Unlike other schools where you have an instructor who just talks the talk but does not walk the walk (for fear of being tapped by their students), at CEBJJ, our instructor actually trains alongside you, sheds blood, sweat and tears with you. Our professor walks the walk. He rolls with everyone and that is rare in BJJ schools. He is also a BJJ competitor and a World Champion who has recently bred 2 new black belt world class competitors. He has great passion towards the art and towards sharing it with others. The camaraderie among the members is like no other. Everyone respects and are friendly with each other. The old school, though small, was always clean and doesnt have that "gym smell" and the bugs that come with it (LOL, everywhere you look, theres a Glade air freshener hissing and the mats are sanitized after every session). With the upcoming opening of the new school just a few blocks away, I cant wait: upgraded mats, bigger place, new classes, new exercise equipments. Cant ask for more! Go check it out.

I can go on and talk about the friendly environment, the cleanliness of the school, the level of respect, lets be realistic you can find that almost anywhere. However, at the end of the day Im there one thing and one thing only and thats to learn great jiu-jitsu. Joseph Manuel, head instructor of cutting edge jiu jitsu doesnt care much for praises but, Every now and then you have to give credit where credit is due. Joseph Manuel has been battle-tested as a competitor and a professor for 15 years. Im 240 pound Brown belt outweighing Joseph by 100 pound every time we roll I am constantly trying to test him and impose my will on him and everytime Im Amazed by his impassable guard his defense, his attacks and most important his teaching abilities. When you have me scratching my head thinking on my drive back home thats to me is a learning experience. that to me is the heart and soul of jiu jitsu when a lighter person with skill and technique can defeat a taller, stronger, heavier opponent.

ever since i started training at cutting edge mixed martial arts academy it has changed my life for the better. it has me goal oriented and motivated every single day. the training & conditioning is amazing i have played other sports but havent felt this well physically and mentally yet.I have been training in brazilian jiu-jitsu there for about 8 months and i cant go a day without it. The learning experience there is incredible. they have an amazing staff and 5 star costumer service. thanks to CEBJJ i have found something i want to do for the rest of my life. I am a member of the competition team and the feeling and energy of the classes is outstanding. everyone is friendly and respectful and treat each other like family. I also signed up my younger cousin a couple months ago and since then i have seen improvement in him other than his physical fitness such as his confidence and social skills. Cutting edge Brazilian jiu-jitsu is the way to go hands down.

Where do I even start! My name is devyn papa and I started training at cutting edge when I was 14 years old. It was stop after a couple of months because I moved to pa. Even though I trained for a short amount of time I learned so much from Josef Manuel and the other guys at the time that made me want more. Now Im 22 years old just graduate from college and decide to move back to New Jersey just to train at cutting edge. I been there for 1 month 1 week and I can honestly say i see a lot of improvement in myself already. Not only with defending myself, I can see myself getting stronger. I love cutting edge more than they know so thats why Im taking the time to type this. Jujitsu to me at least is a very humbling experience for many reason I could talk about it but just come and see for yourself. Call Josef Manuel at cutting edge you wont regret it trust me. Thank you sensei and everyone that trains there!
