You get more than you expect for what you pay for, but make tradeoffs for what you gain, so it depends on what youre looking for. Great price, large space, lots of new machines and some amenities you might not expect for the price you pay. The tradeoffs? Can get very crowded so plan on accounting for extra wait-time for most strength training machines and weights, obnoxious paint colors ala McDonalds (with matching machine colors), and most strength and weight-training machines do not allow for as much adjusting of the positioning of the equipment the way you would expect with the main brand machines most gyms use - this along with the paint color is not unique to this Retro location; it seems to be part of the deal at all Retro Fitness locations. The fact that you cant make certain adjustments on these machines that you could on similar machines at other gyms may leave you in somewhat awkward positioning for certain exercises. Not much to say about the staff other than there is another Retro location in the area with much friendlier and more attentive staff. As you drive down the road toward and away from this location watch out for flooding on rainy days while dodging the crater-sized potholes. Even with all that, still pretty good for the price. But you might really want to just go for that one day pass they offer or even see about doing one month as opposed to signing up for a year before you decide if you want to make this your workout space for the next year.

I have recently been buying the new chocolate shake with peanut butter, isopure, granola/oats-whatever the name is. Theres a girl there during the week early days who typically makes the best ones and I use it as a meal replacement. She has great customer service and Im always happy when she makes the shake- consistently done right (Ill probably update this review when I get her name). Then tonight(Friday 2/17) @approximately 8pm, the guy working there made the same shake but it was horrible! I guess he didnt want to make it. It was very watery and the products were being rationed, which probably explains why it was so watery. The shake is approximately $7. So Im upset that I couldnt get a good product for what I was paying for. I get it that youre tired but if customers are paying for a product, you need to do your best to make it right. Needless to say I dumped the shake on my way out. Waste of my money. Customer service should be good through & through- teach your workers that!

The gym is ok. They have lots of offers/gift vouchers ads on the website but the staffs at the front desk say they dont have it. Some of the staffs are very rude. They need to train their staffs to be more professional. Except one or two staffs, the others dont even smile to you when you interact. They dont have welcoming nature. They have no idea about the acupuncture schedule or didnt want to tell me (their ads are all over the facility though). Zero customer service. I dont know if it is just to me...is that the hint of so called racism? I have no idea... I still remember the girl (Danielle LoGuercio) she was so rude and was trying everything to get me one year membership without giving all the details on the hidden fee (i.e., renewal annual fees)...she even didnt want to tell their cheapest monthly plan..still I ended up getting one but its not worth it. So, dont fall into that trap. I believe there are other better gyms in the area. I regret for signing one year contract

When I sign up 2 years ago I was very impressed with the condition of the gym and the class and instructors. But ager 2 years I just want to leave and go to a different gym. Multiple reason :they eliminate the classes and dont take in consideration the members opinion . The bathroom are very dirty as well as the area where the class are done. It is full of dust and floor is dirty. The bar personal need trainimg in customer service . Lately they hire a new girl that we can said is the only one that understand what a customer value is. I do not remember her name, but i remember that she is bilingual. Please hire a better cleaning company and ask before cancel classes. You have a very nice location and it can be better keep

I have been a member of over 15 gyms. I train at least once, usually twice a day. I moved and this was the closest place to train. First off, the floors are uneven! I put my dumbells down to super set, and they roll away. How can a gym owner allow that. The equipment is old. The treadmills are not calibrated. The are to old, so when you run, you actually slide forward a little bit. Ive almost fallen multiple times. The place is OK, and for the average person its not bad, but Im a major critic for gyms, and if you dont even have an adjustment cable machine the gym is still stuck in 2001.

Basic maintenance is often neglected. There have been times when equipment has been broken for weeks at a time but that seems to have gotten a little better recently. Cable machines often have missing clips requiring members to go searching for unused clips at other stations to borrow. Place needs a thorough cleaning. Some employees are very welcoming and helpful (in particular one lady who I believe is named Emily) but others sometimes seem annoyed when customers need assistance. Convenient location close to route 4 but the parking lot and road flood badly with even moderate rain.

This place is downright filthy. I wonder if anyone ever actually cleans this place. Worked out on a broken-down treadmill upstairs that had candy bar wrappers and straws in the cup holders. Came back A WEEK LATER and the wrappers and straws were still there! This is in plain sight of anyone that actually gets on the treadmill. As many people have mentioned, there is a foul odor that permeates this place and at least a couple machines always have out of order signs on them. With the amount of choices one has in bergen county, Ill go somewhere that could pass a health inspection.

Great environment- never feel overwhelmed by others working out. The staff is very friendly, with amazing Zumba instructors. It has the right mix of group classes and workout machines. Ive been a member of Ballys in the past and Retro Fitness is by far the better gym. I love that I can go to the second level and have a birds eye-view of the gym as I run on the treadmill. The staff makes the difference for me.

Never again. Was a guest here. I waited 30 minutes for muscleheads downstairs to finish slamming their weights deadlifting. Same attitude as L.A. Fitness. Moorestown south Jersey RF isnt like this at all. Too bad I dont live down there. Floors uneven rubber bubbling up. Old broken machines stored in back in public use area. In short, this place is a DUMP.

For the money, its not bad. However, the gym is becoming more crowded, and that annoys me. The issue is more prevalent with the strength training machines as opposed to the cardio. Oh, and for the love of all thats holy......check out the nutritional facts of those shakes that everyone ingests. You may get the shock of life. LOL.
