DISGUSTING!!! I used to go to this gym for a little more than a year. After the North Bergen gym was shut down, all the equipment was moved to this one, literally leaving a thin trail for people to walk through. Everyone from North Bergen came & the place would be packed. It always smelled like pure armpits, humidity, McDonalds, & I dont know how but it eventually started smelling like ONIONS. The people who go there? Thats the worst. Im Hispanic & all, but the people going there are the "low life" spics, those who look like drug dealers, & lot of them are creepy Central Americans who say dirty things as you pass by... that is not classy! You cant even walk in a tight outfit or else itll be worse. & one white guy, not a spic! a creepy white guy who looked like a drug dealer on steroids was following me around twice... can you say scary. The place & the equipment is hardly ever clean. My mom, my cousin (who still goes there), & other people have gotten skin infections, mostly on their faces... looking like pimples, but it was worse. Someone even had the infection reach her lungs & had to go to the hospital. I remember when I used to take the Zumba classes, there was NO air conditioning most of the time & the mirrors & the floor, yes I said the FLOOR, would be covered in sweat yuck!! The cheapskate of the owner never replaced his stereo equipment, which would always have problems, for a new one, & I have been told they are using one of the members stereo... really? I have never been so appalled by a gym, a really nasty one. I never used the tanning beds there... if people get infections at the gym in general, I dont even wanna imagine what kind of bacteria is lurking inside a tanning bed there. The only reason my mom and I stayed a bit longer was because of Linda, the Zumba instructor, who is AMAZING... & its actually a shame that shes still there, when she really deserves to be at a more upscale & clean gym because shes that good of an instructor. Take my word for it, dont EVER go to this gym... you will be disappointed & disgusted... get your workout services elsewhere.

I am giving this gym 4 stars because I recently joined and was very very pleased with the equipment! If you love working out or if you have worked out for years and know your gym equipment, you will love this gym. I used to work out at NYSC and the equipment here reminds me of it. World Gym has equipment that I need to sculpt my body that many gyms dont have nowdays. After reading reviews I almost didnt come here, but luckily, I decided to see for myself. I was like, wow! They have everything here! Large space, steel equipment-the kind that gives you a darn good workout. Someone complained that the equipment was old. Must be a whiny misery seeker because if you like strong, sturdy gym equipment, you would love this place. Some of the fancy spots have shitty equipment that is too lightweight and does not work you out. This is the gym for you if you love to have a toned sculpted body. Like a dancer or an athlete. And I have found some superb equipment pieces here that I could not find anywhere, including NYSC! I am very happy with coming here as I had gained and lost toning. This place is getting me back to where I used to be-and quickly. I kid you not. This can only be done with well thought out equipment. And ladies! If you are single and like to mingle, there are tons of guys here, spanish, white, black, Asian, hey, your choice. Great classes and the environment is easy going. I work out by myself as I love to do. You know, go into my own zone, and it is very comfortable here to do that. You get to mind your own business and do your thing without being bothered if you like. They also have 3 month memberships and 6 month memberships that can be paid up front with no contract. So, dont listen to the whiny asses. I almost missed out on a good thing. Btw, the bathroom does not smell and is the cleanest I personally have seen in a gym. Whoever wrote that was probably smelling their own ass. Lol.

Aside from being only a few blocks away it isnt as bad as people say it is. Yes, the policy is ridiculous for members, but its the only way to stay competitive with other gyms in the area. The gym floor is literally packed with machines and weight lifting equipment, most of them work. Plenty of lockers, the bathroom is ok, it smells like ass though. Here are a few things you should know before signing up, including some of the benefits. >The yearly special they have, for $20 a month for a year, you have to pay a sign up cost of $99. You sign a contract that says if you terminate the contract early, youll have to pay a termination fee. A contract MOST gyms use. >Only 1 water fountain in the entire gym, so bring lots of water. >Showers/sauna/child-care >Gym is mostly empty from 5 am to 3 pm, then it starts getting fuller. And things start calming down at 8 to closing. Here are a few shitty things about this place >lots of equipment are outdated and old >the leg workout room is below exceptional - the padding is ruined, and its small, with little to no ventilation >1 water fountain, and its not even cold, it tastes like warm water from the sink. Wouldnt ever recommend drinking from it >gets packed at 3-7 pm. >medium amount of juicers(hate juicers, those fat slobs) >no remote for TV. Who the hell doesnt have a remote for the TV? Overall, id probably give this place a 3.5. If you want to get everything a gym comes with, sure come here. Has mostly everything you need at an affordable price. Nice and simple. You dont need an explanation. If you want somewhere a bit nicer( a lot nicer actually ) head to East Coast Fitness. For about $10-15 more every month, youll get a nice place, youll see lots of familiar faces, staff is friendly, a working smoothie/juice bar, good trainers, and a bathroom thats shiny. But overall its farther away and for fancy people.

Membership is pricey (~$50 monthly or ~$35 monthly with an annual contract). It has a sauna room that sets itself apart from gyms around the neighborhood, particularly Snap Fitness down the street. World Gym is a massive space with many treadmills, machines, and two full sets of weights, which contrasts greatly with Snap Fitness. The people are nice enough and no "gym intimidation" here. The major drawback for me personally is the absence of key equipments. Firstly, this gym does not have any ab benches. Sure, they have the ab benches with the adjustable weights on the side (plenty), but its not the same (personally). Ive never been to a gym without ab benches. The closest thing to a ab bench (besides the ones with the adjustable weights) is the bench for the decline bench press, which is always occupied. Secondly, this gym does not have kettle bells. Its frustrating to go to a gym with a specific workout plan only to find the gym does not have the equipment needed. For the price of membership its just unacceptable. The only reason I find myself here time and again is because of distance. Snap fitness is much (MUCH) smaller with no sauna, but membership is ~$35 a month with no contract and they provide a small student discount. Or theres is the Planet Fitness in North Bergen. Overall, big, expensive gym albeit out dated.
