I went here two years ago to get an oil change. They had previously done my tires and alignment, and did a decent job. I dropped my car off and went to Houlihans for lunch at the scheduled time. Three hours later, they called me and said they couldnt work on my car because the oil pan drain bolt was stripped. I asked them if they could pump the oil out via the dipstick, which is common practice, and they said they could not. They gave me my keys and I left. I got to Autozone to buy a reverse threaded ratchet kit to pull the plug out, and when returning to my car, there was a puddle of oil underneath as well as a trail of it from the road. I checked the level, figured I had enough to get me home a few blocks and coasted down the road. Upon getting into my driveway, I popped the hood and noticed that it looked like my engine exploded oil everywhere. After about two minutes, using gloves (because it was smoldering hot), I reached behind the engine to check the Oil Filter, and noticed it was completely loose. They must have unscrewed it to begin, and then forgot to screw it back in once they refused to do the work. I called the place, and they said it was my problem. I spoke to a manager, and he said it was my fault for not checking the work before I left the shop. I called corporate immediately, because now I had oil all over my driveway as well as my engine bay, and after asking me for some info, apologized and told me that the store manager would call me back, do the work for free, and detail the engine bay. He didnt. Two hours later, I called him, and he said he heard nothing from corporate and asked me to stop calling about this "nonsense". Meanwhile, I had already pulled the drain plug out and changed my oil. I just wanted them to clean the car. I called corporate again and complained, stating that I needed my engine bay cleaned IMMEDIATELY, and Id also like to be reimbursed to have my driveway powerwashed as well. They agreed to have my engine bay cleaned, but said they needed images of everything, and there was a slim chance theyd reimburse me for my driveway. The store manager finally called me back and said to bring my car in so they could take it to get the engine bay detailed. I got there an hour later, and he said he was busy and Id have to take it myself. He then said that they would write me a check for the amount on the receipt. I went to the place he recommended, and they said they didnt do engine bay detailing, to try another place. I went to the second place and got it done. When I brought the receipt back to the manager, he said I didnt get it done at the right place, and he couldnt get it approved. I was offered nothing else. I called corporate to complain again, and they said to mail them the receipt. I never got a check. After a $150 engine bay deep cleaning, and $2000 re-asphalting my driveway after the oil seeped in and eventually deteriorated it, I have sworn off Pep-Boys until the day I die.

I WROTE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK. MEANWHILE IF YOU ARE PRESSURED FOR TIME .. DO NOT GO HERE. P.S UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO TIP THE SALES GUY
made a reservation online on 12/26/2013 to replace two tires on my mini van. I paid for the tires and the installation online. My appointment was for 4:00 PM so I arrived at the store at 3:30 PM. I gave the guy at the front desk(JUAN DUARTE) the reservation paper and the key. he entered me into the system at 15:53:25 according to work order. I asked him how long it is going to be and he said about an hour. I went next door and got a couple of coffee and came back after half an hour. I saw the car was not on the lift yet and asked him what is going on . he said I am next. Another hour passed and my car did not go up yet, I recognized another dude that came after me leaving the store and realized he was put ahead of me. I waited until 5:00 and since the car was not put on the lift yet , I spoke to the manager Matt English and he said I am going to be next. Another hour passed by and I spoke to the manager again. I thought about leaving the store but was worried I am still going to be charged since I pre-paid already. At this point a guy that was very quick at changing tires left and for about an hour it was only one mechanic working David Farrell. I spoke to the manger yet again and finally, they made a trainee , Juan De Jesus bring the car on the lift, the trainee began working on the van while working on another mini van -- changing its oil, he took off one tire and left it on the floor(i have pictures) after 15 minutes he called David Farrell, the more experience mechanic who attempted to show him how to do it. However, he was still struggling with it, he ruined the lug nuts and then told me that they were bad. I begged David Farrell, to finish the job and stop teaching him since I already been there for 5 hours. Finally, he helped Juan De Jesus, the trainee and by 8:26 PM I was finally out of there. During my long wait , I had to buy a drink at retail price and the manager rang me up and did not even offer the drink as courtesy. The coffee they had in the pot was already dried up. I am a businessman myself so I know how annoying some customers can be and I would not write this review unless I thought its absolutely necessary. Those group of people running this location are going to run it to the ground. I hope you can somehow sweet the bitter experience I had.HE

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I went to PEP Boys on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ to get a backup camera installed in my car. They did not have what I wanted, so they told me go online, find what I want and purchase it, and then call for an appointment and they would instal it. So, I got home, went online and ordered one that fit my needs. When I got the backup camera I called the store and made an appointment. I had to cancel the appointment because the day I was supposed to get the installation done I was having a job interview. No problem to cancel. They told me call back and make a new appointment, "...and good luck on the interview!" (Really? They dont know me. WOW!) Had the interview, called to see if they had anything that day, and they come on over. The person who was going to do the installation came up to me while I was in the waiting area. He told me that the camera I had purchased would have to cause them to drill the back of the car. He told me I dont want to do that because when I sell the car there will be a big hole in the rear of the car. Then, and this blew me away, he said he went onto the website of the company I got the backup camera from. They make a camera that gets screwed onto the license pate. I just got back from having the hole kit and caboodle installed. What a pleasure. Definitely a place to go if you need to have work done on your car. Clean, courteous, and they do the job right.
