This gym is well maintained except for some of the lockers in the mens changing room. Music isnt too loud so you wont have to use noise isolating earbuds or noise canceling headphones to hear your own music. The machines are very close to each other and I like it that way. Theres only one good squat rack and its usually taken. Theres another one on the other side but it doesnt have safety bars to stop the bar from wrecking you if you fail your squat. The workers there are all very classy and up beat people. Wonder if thats a retro rule that they have to smile or if they only hire good looking happy people. The dumbbells are plenty and clean. The benches are colorful and sturdy. I didnt like the color scheme of retro at first but now its grown on me. Although I do have the urge to eat at McDonalds after every work out. There are lots of treadmills and cardio machines if thats your jam. I think theres a bounce to the treadmills too which makes it easier on the knees but feels weird running on it at first. Now on to the topic of the fitness elites. There are some very strong people here but theyre all friendly. Theres this one girl who squats 135lb like its a backpack and guys who max out the leg machines. No body grunts loudly but you might get the occasional "hurhhh" if theyre really pushing themselves. Everyone has headphones/earbuds playing their favorite jams so you can "hurhhhh" away all you want. Sometimes people bring their own bounce weights and start doing power cleans. This gym would be perfect if they removed the half squat rack in the corner and replaced it with an olympic lifting setup. Anyways great gym. Writing this so my sister doesnt go to WoW, which is farther away.

The gym is a gym. Whatever. The most important thing is to never become involved in a personal training contract with the company "Pure Core Personal Training". The management company will not honor the terms of the contract you signed. You will continue to get billed long after you jump through the hoops to cancel. And when you have questions about this, Pure Core Management will never be available at the facility or call you back, despite the assurances of retro staff (who are not part of the same company). So, good luck!

I just signed up a week ago and my experience has been great, the staff is very nice, the gym is well maintained, and they have plenty of equipment to fill pretty much anybodys needs. They have a tanning room which I dont personally use and of course, locker rooms. There is a "Retro Blends" smoothie bar but I dont personally use it but feel free to do so. Overall, my experience has been great and that is why they deserve a 5 star rating.

Joined here this week. Nicole helped me with the membership options. Was very friendly and got us a great deal! Visited another retro location the same day before signing up with this one, and have been to numerous other retro locations in the years past, but this one is the cleanest, friendliest, and has the nicest staff. I live closer to 2 other retros but would gladly take the drive to this one.

Nice little gym and really nice people that work there. Im surprised by the other comments stating "clean". The mens locker room is consistently one of the dirtiest Ive been in - and the showers seem like they are never cleaned. Same dirt/hair/scum day after day.

Had a billing issue that was immediately addressed including a refund. Staff is always smiling and willing to assist. Nice demographic of memebers that basically are friendly but everyone keeps to themselves. No cliques, no staring kind of place. Great value

Love the classes here at Retro in Lincroft. They are why I come. I just wish they had more equipment for us to use during the classes. Other than that, it is pretty clean hete, the staff is always friendly and the classes rock!

Great facility! Clean! Organized! I only gave it 3 stars because I wish the employees would ask the lifters not to slam the weights on the machines! The sound is sooooo irritating and loud!!

Ive seen cleaner bathrooms/showers at a frat house. Theres mold all over the showers/curtains!
