Unprofessional and rude is the standard. I used to go to moda all through college when I attended rutgers. Stupidly, I even went there after I graduated. Just to sum up some experiences there: stylist eating pizza DURING my haircut, colorist showing up at least an hour late to EVERY appt I booked and then having the balls to ask if I wanted to grab coffee up the street before the appt even started. Booking an appt is pointless considering they will take a walk in even if your appt is delayed. I regretfully spent a boatload of money to get my hair done here for years. I thought they did a great job and was comfortable with them but I switched to a much better, much more professional salon. The last straw for me was when I was asked to answer the phone with a head full of foils while a staff member gave herself a brazilian. Not even good color is worth that...

Dont do it! The prices are salon - the atmosphere and service is strip mall. Always overbooked, the stylists dont focus on the client - they are just rushing through the job. It will take you twice as long as anywhere else because they the stylist is working on 3-4 folks at a time. Today, in the middle of my pre-booked time, after my color has been on for an hour, my stylist says she wont be able to do the cut - she is too busy. But maybe one of the mens stylists can do it? He might be great, but Ive never seen him do a womens cut, so I ended up leaving with wet hair. Looking for a new salon! It has a very barbershop atmosphere - if you are a young college guy looking for a quick cut, and are willing to pay a lot, it might be OK, but if you want a color and style, dont consider it.

Ive been a Moda customer for at least 5 years now and have no plans of stopping. I started coming here when my long-time hairstylist moved out of state. I was distraught at the prospect of having to find a new stylist. I walked in on a whim and Henry gave me a free bangs trim. Rght then I recognized the quality of his work was and have been coming back ever since. I am extremely particular about my haircuts and wont go to just anyone. So when I find a hair stylist I like I stick with them for YEARS. This is what I found in Henry at Moda. This is a family-owned business and the owners - Natalie and Henry - are so friendly they make everyone feel like family when youre there. This is the only salon in New Brunswick that I will recommend to anyone these days.

Having just moved here, I went to Moda Hair Salon after Websearching for salons in the Rutgers area that use Aveda products. I used Sally for a cut and highlights and she was great; in fact, her work was exceptional. Thats the good news. Unfortunately, the towels used around my neck and head smelled sour; they smelled as if they had been allowed to redry rather than being washed and dried. Normally, Aveda salons smell wonderful, and part of the Aveda experience is some fine aromatherapy. When I walked out of Moda, I had a fab new cut and highlights, but the smell of sour towels in my nose. Sallys worth another try, but Ill take my own towels.

I have been coming to see Henry at Moda for over 4 years now. He and his employees are the only ones I will trust to cut my hair because they are amazing at what they do. Henry knows my style and never forgets what I like. In addition, the atmosphere is relaxed and fun but professional at the same time. The modern furniture and music make it a great spot to hang out and wait until its your turn. Henry and his family have made a lifetime customer of me and I urge you to make an appointment because you will not be disappointed.

I consider one star for each of the followings and add them up: Wait time: 0/1 Staff: 1/1 Ambiance: 1/1 Haircut: 1/1 Price: 0/1 overall rating: 3/5 I have been there 4 times, every time I waited 40 to 60 minutes and Have paid $25 to $30 (tips not included) for each haircut. Cuts are clean and consistent but I still cant justify paying $35 for a 20 minutes haircut and an one hour wait time. A chemical engineer 1 makes about $29 per hour and that is why I say what they charge is unrealistic.

I have been going to Tanya for my color for years. I have never been disappointed w/ the results and trust her that my hair will look great. She has done both highlights and lowlights on my hair and we always discuss what we are doing before she begins. I would recommend Tanya to anyone that is picky about their color. One of my biggest issues w/ highlights is when they do not get as close to root as possible. Tanya does... she is great.

I have been to Moda a few times and have had Sally cut and color my hair each time. She does a really great job - the last time I was there I wasnt feeling very well so I didnt even give her much direction on the cut or color I wanted, and still it turned out great! After moving to NJ from Brooklyn I had a really tough time finding a stylist that I could trust, but I have found just that in Sally at Moda.

Amazing place with a friendly atmosphere and very attentive staff. Evelyn was the one to cut my hair and she did an amazing job despite the fact that I was in a rush and was trying to speed up the process(which is never a good thing to do). She took great care of my hair and did everything to make sure I get exactly what I wanted. Next time I cut my hair Im definitely going to Moda! Thank you!

Henry is THE MAN! The first time I came there, I didnt really know what style to get, but when Henry came in, the other hairdressers stopped and started clapping? I definitely wanted to get my hair cut by THAT guy then! I showed him a (very vague) picture, but he did a different style which looked amazing, and Ive been going to Moda ever since!

The barbers were friendly, however the one who cut my hair kept telling that I have too much hair. First, I thought it was a joke and laughed..but when he repeated it too many times, it became annoying. Hair cut was okay... the price is high compared to quality. I will explore other places, before returning to Moda.

Been going here for years. Henry and Kalil both do a really good job on mens hair. I like the aveda products they have. Preferred clients do get preference but if you call ahead and get an appointment, theyre pretty good about sticking to it. I wont go anywhere else.
