I bought an Amazon local deal - 3 oil changes for $45. Last Saturday my wife brought our SUV in for an oil change (27,000 miles). Dan, the mechanic, called us after 2 hours and informed her that the rear brakes were metal on metal, and the rear brake job including replacing the rotors would be $419. I instructed my wife to tell him we would call him right back. I called the dealer and he quoted me $239. I called Dan back and said the dealer would do it for cheaper. He ranted that the dealer was not going to resurface the rotors for that price and it would be at least $600 from them, so i called the dealer back and confirmed that it would include the resurfacing of the rotors. I called Dan at American tire back and told him i wanted to see the rotors. When I arrived at the shop his story changed. I was not metal on metal as he stated but I still had a third of the brake pad left. He started pointing to the rust lip on the rotor saying it needed to be replaced. There wasnt a thing wrong with the rotors. They still had at least another 5000 miles of brake pad life left. When I told him that the dealer included the rotor resurfacing, he agreed to price match the job, but not be responsible for any vibration that would be present because they were resurfaced and not replaced. I told him to put my car back together and just change the oil. I brought the car to the dealer I bought it from and they took a look at the rotors and confirmed my estimate of at least 5000 miles left before the pads would have to be replaced, and that there was indeed nothing wrong with the rotors.

A few weeks ago, my radiator cracked and as a result I needed to get it replaced. I sent it to the American Auto Tire because I only had water in the radiator and needed to find a place around me. I thought that because American Tire was franchised their work would be reliable. Unfortunately that was not so. While fast, my car came up with problem after problem. My first visit cost $900 which was understandable given that I had a new oil change, changed the radiator, changed some hoses, yadda yadda. But, after the first visit my check engine light went on. I brought it back and they said my ERG meter? wasnt reading right anymore. They said they would try to reset the computer and see if it would help. It didnt. A few days after that the check engine light went on again. This next trip cost $200. Now, a week and a half after that visit my car is making loud noises. My friends father took a look at the car and saw that the timing belt was almost completely worn out, the muffler needs to be replaced, and the fluids were dirty. Now my question is, why couldnt American Tire check for such obvious problems before they gave me my car back? It would have meant more money for them since they would be doing more work? My only answer to that is: They dont care. They fix the problem that you came to them with, but dont take the time to see if there are any other problems. They have too many potential customers and thus dont give the individual attention to any single car.

I brought my car to them to do an alignment after lowering it because they have an in ground alignment rack. I get the car back, and the front camber is equally out of spec from when I dropped it off. This was both visually and confirmed by the provided spec sheet. It wasnt until I got back to the house that I looked at the spec sheet and it confirmed both sides were far out of spec. I called up and voiced my frustration and stated that Im bringing the car back and I want the camber put in spec, that was the entire point of the alignment to begin with. The gentleman on the phone tells me that the camber is not adjustable. I laughed. I told him the front camber is absolutely adjustable and the adjustment is in the bolts that attach the bottom of the strut to the knuckle, and Id be happy to go into the shop and show your tech how to do his job. I brought the car back, they corrected it. Issue was corrected, they apologized, but I just do not enjoy or appreciate inexperience working on my car, and then being fed lies when I call to inquire. This place was fantastic when it was Old Bridge Tire. Ever since becoming American Tire, I am no longer a customer.

Called them for a price on tires I researched on the internet for my BMW. They Faxed me a quote but the load rating was different than I specified. At the shop they found the tires were what I specified but the print on the quote was wrong. This is the kind of shop that will never take the blame for ANYTHING so you have to stay on your toes and check that everything is correct including prices on quotes. I was the only one in the shop waiting for 2 tires to be balanced and mounted and I dont see how it took over an hour to complete. A common mistake but a mistake nonetheless my car calls for front tire pressure 33 psi rear 41 psi, the rear tires were incorrectly filled to 33 psi. Told them I wanted to take my old tires with me and to wave the "Tire Environmental Fee" They waved the fee and kept the tires. While I was there a woman walked in with a flat tire and they told her it would be an hour. The gas station down the street from my house is way faster. Could have been worse though much better than PEP Boys or R&S dont ever go there. I would go to American Tire again.

I brought my car in to their shop in January to get it checked out because I had noticed white smoke coming from the hood and there seemed to be something leaking. I brought it here because months before my mother had inquired with them about my potential problem and how much they would charge to look at it. They said they would look at it for free and only charge a small amount if they had to go deep and when I brought my car in, they stayed true to that promise. It turns out that there was a lose valve underneath the engine that needed to be tightened and was likely the cause of the leaking and smoke. The mechanic tightened it up for me, cleaned the oil and reattached a panel underneath the car that had been coming down all at no charge and got it done very quickly. As a full time college student, I was grateful for this. Besides the great service, everyone I encountered was all around very nice and I plan to go there again, when I can, for any work I need done as I know ill be getting the best service and reasonable prices. Five stars!!

Had been a loyal customer for 10 years but now 2nd poor experience with my min-van . Had a scheduled 7 AM appointment for a job they said would be 5 or 6 hours. By 2 PM still no call and car ended not being ready until 6:30 that night. Found out they didnt start on the car until after 9 AM. Poor customer service for not calling me, had to keep calling back and did not even take anything off the bill for the inconvenience of being without a car. 1st bad experience with the van the last time when they did not check their work and fluids leaked on my driveway. It took them months before they sent someone to try and clean it up but stains are permanent. Have to now agree with some other people who have told me in the past they fix one problem but always find something else wrong that needs fixing. Will not be bringing any of my 3 cars back to them... Be Careful if you do go !!!
