Overpriced. Fraudulent bait & switch service provider. I called and asked if my scanner could be repaired, The scanner itself worked fine but I wanted the plastic cap replaced on my USB female port as the original one had fallen out. It was an expensive scanner and I just wanted a bit of preventative maintenance. When I called BCS the technician I spoke with suggested I bring it down and they would give me a free estimate on the spot. This was important to me as the net is full of computer repair shops who over charge consumers for the simplest of repairs. The following day I drove 30 mins. and brought the scanner for the free estimate. When I showed up however at BCS they changed there story. I was told that the estimate was not free. Instead I would have to pay $65 and leave the unit with them for about a week in order to get an estimate for the repair. WTH? When I explained that I had been told otherwise on the phone they apologized and said it must have been a miscommunication. They said its there policy to only give repair estimates for a charge! To say I felt cheated and lied to is an under-statement1 While I was there I notice a few things that told me a great deal about this company: First the business seems to be run by young kids. No one there looked to be over 20 years old. In fact the young man behind the counter couldnt have been older than 17. This indicated to me that they did not have the necessary experience to actually run a business let alone do the necessary repair. Second the shop was very disorganized. While I was there they were all frantically looking for a misplaced item. I got the impression that they were in above there heads. Generally a disorganized work area is the sign of a poor technician. Third, they are impolite. They dont seem to care to be courteous. How hard could it have been to spend a sec and just give me a rough idea of the repair? In fact the representative I spoke with actually smirked when I told him I had driven 30 mins for the free estimate I had been promised on the phone. Fourth they are dishonest: If you leave your item with a service provider who insists on charging you for an estimate for the job, you are being taken. These guys are not stupid. They know the basic costs for most repairs. They could have easily given a simple quote. The reason they didnt is because they are money hungry They figure that if you drive all the way down to there location they have you and can milk you. Classic bait and switch. Took my scanner to another shop. Unlike the rude staff at BCS, they actually took the time to look at the problem. Techie walked out back, came back with a plastic cap and just placed it into my port. He didnt charge me at all! If you have a computer repair, save yourself the hassle and frustration that the kids at BCS dole out to take your money. Also dont be fooled by there internet presence that they are somehow professional. They are not. Indeed I think many of the positive reviews that are posted of them online are things they themselves wrote.

I have an older laptop that I need to keep for various reasons associated with older software. What I have is fine but needs a bigger hard drive. Im pretty comfortable with computers but would never attempt something like this myself. Its critical that ALL the data be transferred. I started out by calling my local Geek Squad. After passing through a couple of incorrect departments in the store I got a Geek Squad representative who told me that all of the technicians that could answer my questions were busy, and she would connect me with a remote Geek Squad technical person. I found myself talking to someone who was clearly reading from a script and had no idea how to answer my questions. She eventually said she would put me on a brief hold to find the answers. After a minute or so the call was disconnected. I searched again, and found Bergen Computer Solutions. I called, spoke with Dan - who knew exactly what I was asking about and assured me that they could transfer all my data to a new larger hard drive. I drove the laptop to their office with some hesitation - if this procedure got screwed up it would be a disaster for me. I’m happy to say that everything went as Dan assured me it would. The work was completed the same day. To me this is kind of a miracle - to this small company it’s just business as usual. This is exactly what a small computer business should be - run be friendly and accomplished young people who know what they are doing and enjoy it. You will not be disappointed. FOLLOWUP: After my second trip Im an even happier customer. Another old critically important computer stopped booting up. The problem was fixed within a couple of hours. I am a 25 minute drive away from this company and consider the trip well worth the effort.

Horrible service! Less than honest. Overpriced by a lot! The young guys who run this place seem more interested in there personal wealth than giving honest service. I was very disappointed with the service I received. The prices they charge (not their initial estimate price) was far more than what other comparable repair shops charge. It seems all they do is have some basic anti-virus software and decided to open a computer repair shop. When you come in they hype the amount of work it takes. Then they make you wait and wait and wait (making it sound like they are hard at work at it when in reality they havent done a thing). Then finally someone runs the antiviral software and voila they just made a couple of hundred dollars in a few short minutes. In the brief experience I had with them , I got the distinct impression that the way they make there money is through the ignorance and frustration of the customers who go to there shop. If you have a problem like a virus try a national outfit like Geek Squad. The price they quote you is slightly higher but they dont BS as much and the job gets done quickly. At least with Geek Squad the final bill is what they said it would be. With Bergen Computer Solutions you get charged far more than they estimated. If you have complex computer problem, save yourself the aggravation and take it to someone more experienced than these young kids. Youll find you get better service at a cheaper price and a job that done properly the first time. One more thing: I have a strong suspicion that many of the positive reviews these guys have online are actually written by them or there friends.

They scammed us out of $150. An update ended up deleting our files so we took it here to try and recover whatever they could. William said they would be able to retrieve most of our files they did this all the time. After we finally got our computer back they told us that we would have to look through all the files ourselves to find whatever was recovered. He hadnt said anything about that when we gave them the computer. We had to search through hundreds and hundreds of corrupt files ourselves to find a tiny portion of our files. Our pictures were gone. All corrupted. They had never mentioned that they couldnt recover the pictures. Out of the tiny portion that we did find, a surprising amount of the files were deleted ones from a long time ago. I called the next day and asked to speak to the manager but he refused to come to the phone. I did drop an f bomb while talking to them which they reacted to hilariously. I guess I offended their delicate sensibilities. When we first took our computer William did mention that they used some program called "recovery rollback" which I looked up online. Similar programs go for about $20 or so. Shouldve just done it ourselves. Reported them to the BBB but got nowhere, but theres always NJ consumer state of affairs so well see how that goes. How these lowlifes have any good reviews are beyond me. Probably planted since every time we were in that closet they call an office, it was empty.
