Before I start with the main reason I left, I want to emphasize on how DIRTY they are. I thought I saw a mouse on the hardwood floor thats how much dust there is. I also didnt even want to touch a single cardio machine. They are constantly caked with dust, grime, and sweat. I have witnessed too many times the cleaners sitting at the front dest and doing nothing ! La Fitness will say/do anything and everything to get what they want. When I came in to sign up for my membership I was excited. The general manager, Dave, was super friendly and helpful during the sign up process. It was when I wanted to look into the personal training that things got screwed up. John, the sales person, told me word for word, this works just like the membership. That is the only reason I went through with it because I only wanted the service until the end of summer. Personal things came up however and I could no longer afford to pay for the personal training. When I called the head office to cancel it was then that I was told I was locked in for an entire year ! John lied straight to my face and now since it was a contract Im stuck. I will take blame for not reading the contract however since he told me it worked THE SAME WAY AS MY MEMBERSHIP there wasnt anything else I was concerned about. I went to see Dave and he told me what I needed to do was get a dead card and we will put the personal training on that. Okay, well since I refused to put any money into my account because La WILL take it he told me that he would be putting into the system for just my membership. How ironic, the same day they took out a payment for the personal training without my consent or funds so they over drafted my account. I immediately called to cancel my entire membership, and no one seems to care about whether you have issues or not. They did nothing to try to help me. I was told that they wouldnt charge me anymore when I cancelled, however I do not trust them so I still changed my card number so they wouldnt have access to my account anymore. Then I got to find out that companies like that can still get your updated information unless your bank blocks it, they never gave me that option. So all of the money I put into my account and already had all my bills pending on got taken out by LA. I cannot believe months later I am still dealing with this and I have had to file a dispute for four separate transactions they had no right to take. So now my credit will be affected because I had to pay the rest of my important bills late and need to somehow figure out how I am going to pay them next month because thats how much money the gym stole from me. I am only 20 years old and I made the mistake of trusting both John and Dave so they took complete advantage over me.

I enjoy being at this gym. It is always clean and everything is stocked (papre towels, soap, etc). The personal trainers are very nice and always say hi. One of the managers is not a very nice person. I was once working out and he grabbed my water bottle and was about to throw it away and I told him its mine and he tried to hand it to me while i was doing my workout on the machine instead of placing it on the floor where he found it. i thought that was rude. Hes also out of shape. You would think a gym would hire a manager thats somehow in shape so they can inspire people and practice what they preach. But NOPE! dude needs to lift. One of the workers once followed me and asked me to take the 45 weight off the abs machine and put it on the weight rack when I didnt even put it on the machine to begin with. Overall, I like the idea of working out at LA Fitness because they got it together. I dont like the staff at this location but it doesnt matter because interaction with them is minimal.

There are some good things about this gym, but I would rather go somewhere where the folks are honest and are not trying to swindle you. My boyfriend and I signed up together. We knew that he was going to be away for a few months, and asked the gym manager if he would be able to put a hold on the membership while my boyfriend was away before signing up. Once we signed up we enjoyed the services for three months. The turnersville location has great spin classes. After three months we put a hold on service with an agreed upon hold date so we could use the gym until he was leaving. My boyfriend went to the gym and without asking his permission they reinstated his service. I did not find out until I called to find out why there were extra charges on my account. After agreeing to reimburse me for this amount they never did. I called for weeks and was promised reimbursement. I went over to the gym and got the run around. I cancelled the gym membership shortly after.

The apparent "manager" Bob is terrible. I had an issue swiping in being that I just upgraded my membership to all locations because I recently moved back into Jersey. I was trying to figure out exactly what package I upgraded to for additional $80, and he would not even let me finish a sentence. He has a temper and just kept repeating how I was not valid there. I have been a member there for 10 years and he would not even let me talk. He also claimed that he was in charge of customer service and that there was no corporate number I could call, which is such a joke! I asked another employee for his name and she said I should speak to the general manager because she thinks Bob is rude as well. When I was walking out I was too intimidated to speak to his boss because he was standing at the front desk with him, glaring at me! He has to go!! He needs to be more polite to paying customers!

I COME HERE ALL THE TIME AND SEE THE SAME ASSOCIATES EVERY TIME. WHEN I WENT THE OTHER DAY TO PLAY BASKETBALL WITH MY FRIENDS THE WHITE MANAGER TOLD ME I COULD NOT SIGN MY FRIENDS IN, BUT ANY OTHER TIME HE LETS ME SIGN THEM IN AND WHEN I SAID SOMETHING HE TOLD ME HE DID NOT RECALL, THAN WANTED TO ARGUE BACK AND FORTH WITH ME. THIS IS THE WORST LA.FITNESS IN THE WORLD!!!! THE WHITE MANAGER IS VERY RASICT!!!!! TOLD ME I COULD NOT COME BACK AND ALSO CALLED THE COPS ON ME AND MY FRIENDS. HE WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND I AM A PAYING CUSTOMER! I PAY EVERY TIME WHEN I GO IN THERE SO I REALLY FELT SOME TYPE OF WAY ABOUT HOW ME AND MY FRIENDS WERE TREATED!!!! IT WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE ! AND ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS PLAY BASKETBALL. YOU DO NOT TREAT A PAYING CUSTOMER THAT WAY, I WONT BE GIVING THEM MY BUSINESS ANY MORE!

The cardio machines are not serviced enough. Some the resistance will go up but not back down or same with incline. Some the heart monitor doesnt work; some make strange noises. There are TVs that dont work or have nearly the same channel on every channel. A lot of the bike "foot straps" are missing. They dont use proper dusting or cleaning technique. The dust just gets kicked back up in the air and doesnt stick to the "wand" she uses. All of the weight lifting machines in the middle are now facing the cardio machines. Most people dont want to be looked at when they are on either. I know people who wont even use the machine because of that. The weekend hours start so late and end so early!
