The fish rots at the head. Not only is the front desk person rude and the manager, but the owner, Ms. Jody Bender, fosters the management style of the customer is "not always right" and instructs her staff to question their customers on their comments/complaints about the club as if to prove that every dispute has two sides and the winning side is NOT the customer because her subordinates (which is the legal term for employees which Jody says are family!) are family and family knows best. The front desk person Jen lied to me about the name of the second owner by saying their name is Steve instead of David Spadaccino, but I am sure that she was just having a bad day, as Jody later explained as substantive evidence for misbehavior, or it slipped her mind. In either case she was pardoned by Jody Bender because as an employee or subordinate she is also "family" and family knows best. Though an apology was made, a similar apology was made to the employee when a complaint was brought forth! Jody Bender claims that she received numerous customer service awards as if to say that their employees are golden as if she and her "family" cannot do any wrong going forward. And the original complaint? The front desk employee would not allow anyone to sit inside the yoga room before the arrival of the instructor because of vandalism fears (the yoga room is in front of the front desk). Aside from disrespectfully refusing paying members from sitting in the yoga room, which previously was permitted, the front desk person brashly said to go sit elsewhere. In my opinion, and I work in client service, and know the degree of sensitivity required handling clients, the management style at this facility is applauding. Not only does the management question the validity of complaints and refuse to acknowledge managerial shortcomings, they insult and make members feel inferior. The only way you would avoid these issues is by not speaking with anyone employed at B&R. Absolutely shameful and disrespectful management and subordinates! LA Fitness has the same facilities and is down the road with much better management that understands the relationship between service provider and client! To top it off, all employees were asked to hang up on me if I ever called again no matter what the issue was! How about that for avoiding the problem?!

I have been a member of B&R for 15 yrs now! LOVE the whole new face lift and beautiful construction! Theyre always consistently clean, friendly and have THE best group fitness classes (land and their pools). Im super impressed with their huge spin rm with 41 new bikes... NO MORE WAITING YAY! the new yoga room is beautiful with hard wood floors & a running water garden... high tech lighting nicer than any private yoga studio around. its all included in the low membership fee too. seriously the best value if you tried to pay for all you get there separately elsewhere. and the instructors are amaazing and up on all the new fitness classes in the industry... more members between the ages of 25-45 are doing their b&r extreme training indoors and out back~ i never even knew they had such a terrific back with beach volleyball, basketball & a field for this kinda workout! i think im most impressed with the experience and longevity of the staff there. theyre career fitness peeps & very willing to help you at any level and age. ive read some of the comments below and can DEFsay that i was in the lobby & witnessed the person who wrote below. it pleases me as a 15 yr member to know that this club believes their members have a right to enjoy their workouts and will protect them from members who dont believe in sharing a huge club nicely with others. The owner, jody, prefers to make all their members happy than cater to the demands of a few. im glad they have a no bullying policy and will tell a member to take their membership elsewhere rather than allow them to continuously be rude with a sense of entitlement towards the staff and other dues paying members! go management of b&r for caring for the majority of us who appreciate your warm friendly club. its why youre still in business and im going on 16 yrs!

This gym is poorly run. The main man who is in charge of memberships is terrible! He is rude, arrogant and treats people horribly. He screams and yells in front of members and just does not posess the personality to be in his position. Since I have been a member for 4 years there have been multiple problems with him. what a creep. Numerous members and employees, many of whom are no longer there because of him can not stand him. If only he know what the employees say about him behind his back. He had cost the club a lot of members that would not renew because of him and have joined LA Fitness instead. The owners are not so great either. I and friends of mine have tried numerous times to contact one and she refuses to return calls and the other owner is never anywhere to be found. An owners daughter who works the front desk is very cold, She does not greet u warmly, look at you or smile when u come into the gym. The Kidz Kamp also has gone downhill, so much to the point that myself and many others have either pulled our kids out or switched camps. Parts of this gym are absolutely filty. They never clean in bewteen the excersie mats. I NEVER see anyone in the gym cleaning off the equipment. People who work there who I give a big thumbs up to are and are awesome are: Christine, the personal trainer, Brandi, the daycare director and Linda, the aerobics manager. Loretta who used to run the aquatics was awesome but unfortunately she has left. This gym has a high turnover rate.

Came here to sign up, and when I told the guy at the front desk I was interested in joining, he rolled his eyes and sighed. Awesome. I asked for a quick tour, and he said "there is a bunch of equipment and the pool is closed, so you cant see that anyway." He proceeded to just stand there behind the desk. I asked what kind of classes they had, and he just shrugged and said I would have to come back and talk to his brother. Literally, all the papers with the classes and times were right in front of him on the desk. He could have at least offered to give me those to look over. Kid also had no idea what prices or packages they have, and said "they change and it depends". It seemed like they just pulled some kid off the street and paid him cash to stand behind the desk, as he had absolutely no idea what was going on. I would be surprised if he knew what day of the week it was. Needless to say, I will not be joining this place. Go to LA if you need a pool, or the Solebury Club if you want an awesome gym with good people.

They do not value members even if you have been with them for long time , they changed previous owner policies , but still charged monthly fee for 9 month. When I asked them to correct their mistake their representative Who is 18 years old said that there is nothing he can do, after wasting my time he called GENERAL MANAGER who is 19 years old and refused to give me her name, who also speaks so condescending, and showed me a policy of cancellation due to improper use of Vending machine. I asked her what is it have to do with me ? Then she pulled another policy that also had nothing to do with situation at hand, then her final argument was " trust me". What about my 90$? In summary of her 15 min speech "Too bad". It is just not nice. My family and I have been members for good 10 years. There is nothing special about this Gym just not to far for me but then there are others.
