We love and trust Ryan, Inc. 100%. This company did a massive amount of work in our home, taking 3 months to complete. The centerpiece of this work was the installation of a Waterfurnace Series 7 geothermal heating and cooling system, but they also replaced all of the old fiberglass and cellulose insulation in our attics with new open-cell spray foam insulation, did a huge amount of ductwork, replaced our old electric panel with a new modern one, installed a new Rheem hybrid heat pump water heater and a new Santa Fe Impact XT dehumidifier for our basement, did a lot of carpentry work and painting, and removed our old oil tank, oil boiler and old air-conditioner. We chose Ryan, Inc. to do this job after meeting with seven different contractors for these reasons: 1) Support The owners of this company such as Patrick and Mike Ryan were willing to spend hours with us answering all of our questions, even giving us their personal cell phone numbers and telling us we could call them anytime ...even at midnight, for support! To us, they are more like friends than people we hired to do some construction work on our house. The office managers at Ryan, Inc., Crestina and Palmira, helped us with the paperwork that had to be completed to get permits for the construction and the paperwork to make us eligible for the various federal and state rebates and tax credits. Crestina even did things like call us when one of the workers was on his way to our house, just to let us know he was on his way and at what time we could expect him. 2) Experience Ryan, Inc. has been around since 1937 and they have installed about 300 geothermal systems. 3) One company to do all the work It really simplified things for us to have one company do absolutely every aspect of this project. Typically, you need to get one company to do the insulation work, another company to do the ductwork, a third company to do the drilling, a fourth to remove your oil tank, and so on. 4) References We visited the homes of people for whom Ryan, Inc. had installed geothermal systems and they were all ecstatic about this company. 5) Wholistic approach Not only did they install a geothermal system, but they wanted to make it operate as efficiently as possible and so they were looking at everything from how our house was insulated to how we could bring all the ductwork within the thermal envelope of the house. 6) Commitment to the environment Not only does Ryan, Inc. install energy-efficient heating and cooling systems such as geothermal, but they also install solar panels and construct Passive Houses (super energy-efficient houses). As they worked on our house, we found even more reasons to love this company: 1) They really make an effort to keep your house clean as they work. They put booties over their shoes when they come into your house to avoid tracking dirt everywhere, cover your floors and furniture with plastic drop cloths wherever they are working, and always clean and vacuum at the end of the workday. 2) They did work that went far beyond what we had agreed upon in the contract at no extra charge to us, such as giving us 100 gallons of oil for free so that we wouldnt run out of oil before the geothermal system was installed, and installing extra insulation in our attics. 3) Theyve assembled a truly international team with employees from countries such as Portugal, Poland, Latvia, Ecuador, and El Salvador, just to name a few, and have hired people of every imaginable skin color. We love to support a company like Ryan, Inc. that has such a diverse work-force because our dream is of one human family, with members of every nationality and skin color. We recommend Ryan, Inc in the highest possible way and for anyone considering switching to geothermal we say, "Absolutely go for it!" But have Ryan do the installation. We wanted to make the switch for environmental reasons, but learned that geothermal systems are also simpler, safer, more comfortable, less expensive to operate, and longer-lasting than systems that burn fossil fuels.

Weve had a very negative experience with Ryan plumbing. We were having a problem with our hot water heater, so we scheduled an appointment with Ryan. The plumber they sent seemed completely unable to diagnose the problem himself; he spent most of the time on the phone with the manufacturer of our hot water heater. Eventually he told us that we needed a new draft inducer, which was under warranty. He ordered the part from the manufacturer; apparently it was under warranty so it would be shipped overnight free of charge. We waited several days and it didnt show up. It then took several calls to Ryan to try and get a tracking number, which they were unable to provide. We eventually called the manufacturer of our hot water heater who said that the part was shipped but was eventually returned because it was ordered without an apartment number. So, the plumber ordered the part to the wrong address. We told the manufacturer the correct address and we eventually got the part; the plumber from Ryan came back and installed it at a cost of $200. We immediatley discovered that the original issue wasnt fixed at all; the same exact symptom was there (the hot water heater runs all the time). We called Ryan again, and they sent back the same plumber, who again was unable to diagnose the problem himself and sat on the phone with the manufacturer. He then came to the conclusion that we needed a new small gas valve, which is another part under warranty that will cost $236 to install. So, this is over two weeks into our dealing with Ryan, and our hot water heater is still not working, and they are now trying to get another $236 out of us, after we spent the first $200 for a problem that they did not fix. Keep in mind this is a two year old hot water heater in a brand new apartment. On the phone with Ryan, the person in the office just said, "if thats what the plumber told you, then thats what is needed to fix your hot water heater. we can have him explain it to you if you prefer." I said, "No thanks." Its redundant to say that we will not be doing business with, or recommending, Ryan plumbing under any circumstances.

I rarely write product or company reviews. But in this case I felt I could and should provide one. We had Ryan install a Geothermal system in our home. There is no other word than excellent here. The professionalism is simply top notch. Here are a few specifics that we experienced and that you would be likely to expect: 1) Everything was explained up front. Nothing was done that wasnt anticipated before the work started (this is so rare these days). Government rebates, payment plans, costs were all explained thoroughly and in writing. 2) The detailed energy efficiency assessment provided lists all of the additional work that could be done to improve the energy efficiency of the home. All of it is detailed as to whether or not it is included or simply suggestions that could be implemented at a later date. 3) The schedule was followed with no surprises. 4) The equipment layout was clean and efficient. Id even go as far as to say meticulous. There were no loose end and the least obtrusive and efficient path from our well location to furnace location was installed. 5) The clean up was great, as promised inside and outside the home. The grass did take its hits. That was known up front. Well drilling equipment is a given with the installation of a geothermal system. However, everything was leveled before they left and we simply reseeded. 6) Finally, the system works as promised. Weve had no problems with its functioning and our monthly use of propane has been reduced to just running the stove. I can only highly recommend Ryan for their work and follow through.
