I joined PF because its cheap & typically, all I need are the cardio machines. But since its included, I took a chance & tried the Hatha Yoga class & it was TERRIBLE. As an avid yoga practitioner who has studied for 10+ yrs, I would be remiss not to tell every single person who will listen that the teachers "technique" was downright dangerous & the class potentially harmful to peoples heath. 1st of all, she was not teaching Hatha Yoga AT ALL, as the gym schedule indicates. 2nd, the vague yoga-related postures she tried to incorporate into her bastardized version of whatever this class was, were 100% wrong. Incorrect alignment, incorrect coaching, dangerous suggestions, a dimly lit room where the teacher was unable to observe students & vice versa, which is worse. Overall, this was a very, very bad class that should be removed from their schedule, before some poor person sustains a serious injury. Yoga should be taught at yoga studios by yoga teachers. Not at a gym by a sweaty moron who had just finished teaching a cardio class, who was dripping with sweat & who didnt have A CLUE as to what the hell she was doing. And for her to have the gall to say Namaste at the end of class was a supreme insult, since there was zero "namaste" in her actions or in her class. Stay away from the "yoga" classes at this gym. Its a cheap gym for a reason.

I have had a membership to many gyms in the various places Ive lived and relied on their instructor led classes. I have been to hundreds of classes, with unique instructors. I have attempted multiple classes as well as different instructors at Platinum Fitness but continue to find them all to be horrible. Id recommend the Kick and Abs class if youre looking for an 80s aerobic type class. There were no kickboxing techniques used and no focus on abs... Ill also add the instructor Monica kept checking herself out in the mirror to fix her hair. She was 60 going on 25 and had no idea how to properly punch or kick. Id recommend the Zumba class with Andrea V (I thought you had to be coordinated to teach a dance class) for anyone looking for a very low impact dance session my 5 year old neice can do. ....and the list goes on but I will not waste my time. There is no way the instructors of the classes are certified especially for the specific class they teach. Its like they pick people up off the street to teach these classes. I have got so fed up taking class after class with different instructors only to end up dissappointed every time. Even if the instructors were not great but at least OK, it might be worth continuing the classes. Lets just say I am droping my monthly $10 "Class Fee" asap!

This is a very inexpensive option to go if you plan getting into some sort shape. Beat $10-15 a month with a gym thats has ample parking space, lockers, shower, steam room! Every year, the facility is modernized to keep up with the demand with optimum working equipment. Theres an upkeep annual facility fee of $5 every year, but its worth the money to receive newer physical fitness equipment. The downside for some we be they have only 2 stalls in the mens bathroom, however they have a cleaning crew that does a great job cleaning the place! Thats a good thing...since they dont neglect the place. The other complaint for others would be: youll need to bring your own towels. Remember Platinum Fitness is about keeping the maintenance costs down, while providing excellence to its customers. But wouldnt you feel better about bring your stuff in, since you dont have to worry whether the towels are sanitized or not? Its a diversified gym: Young or Old folks come here, actually a gym that accepts you for being "fat, skinny", Its not the run on the mill stereotypical gym for the already "fit-looking" people. Not a bad place for the price that youll pay monthly. Maybe Ill see you there. Have a great workout!!

Plat is what Plat is, and its very good at it. Its a cheap gym. 10$ a month. They have a plethora of exercise equipment, and empty fitness rooms and mats for stretching and abs/bodyweight exercises. The Locker rooms have saunas. You can say hello to one of the cleaning people at all times of operation, it is very cleanly for the size and amount of people. There are complaints about the shakes and their advertising. Yes it is misleading, do not buy them, but you would already know this if you were serious about fitness. (Eat your calories, dont drink them{Water Only!}) They have numerous Cardio Machines; 2 kinds of elliptical, gazelle, upright bike, reclining bike, hand bike, treadmills, and stair steppers. Weight training; 4 squat racks, two benches, 10 free benches, and numerous machines. Times to go: I would not recommend doing weightlifting between 5 and 8 pm, it is very crowded, and it sucks. Doing cardio at this time is fine. Wake up early and go before work. At 6:15am there are under 10 people in a weight section that can easily accomadate 50, and often accomadates 100. For 10 dollars, this gym offers a heck of a lot, so get in there and get in shape!

Ive been enrolled to many gyms over the years (moved a lot) and this is one of the worst gyms Ive ever seen. The staff is disrespectful and for an institution that prides itself on having a state of the art Cardio, there are many other gyms out there that have more treadmills and machines available (for a similar price). If muscle building is your goal, then dont even think about it. Its not even in the same league. There are so few machines and you wont get the variety youd find elsewhere. If theres a single strength this place has its Cardio but youd be lucky to have a treadmill open even during off-peak hours. The word "scammers" gets thrown around a lot but be careful because all this staff cares about is your money and once youre locked, its nearly impossible to end your subscription. For serious gym-goers, avoid this place like the plague. The one good thing it has is enough parking space but there are simply much larger and better gyms in the same area at similar prices - especially without the rude and elitist attitude the staff here has.

Big gym with a lot of new equipment. One classroom that is not always being used. A large private training room and plenty of staff for training / nutrition etc. In 3+ years nobody has ever pitched me for training or nutritional consulting or to upgrade to a more premium membership. And I have never seen anyone else pitch either (although some folks clearly could use it!). People come in and do their own routines and leave. Nice enough people but its not about chatting and making friends and catching up or even working out together... mostly individuals just coming in, hopping on a treadmill, lifting some weights/machines, doing some stretching and leaving. Facilities are kept clean; TVs all over place, acceptable wifi speeds...music being piped throughout but not so loud that it interferes with your own earbuds. Would benefit from a few more stairmaster machines and another stretch-center contraption (and little signs on some of the mirrors reminding people to not sit on weight-training machines between sets) but otherwise, its all good.

I was a member at this gym for about 6 months. The first MONTH that I used the gym, I couldnt get the teenagers at the counter to stop chit-chatting long enough to give me the time of day much less my membership card--my card was a piece of paper for far too long. When they finally took the pic, they acted like I was inconveniencing them--same feeling I got when signing up. Mid-December I changed bank accounts. I called them twice to give them the new info--both times, they apparently lost or didnt apply it. I received a letter from collections, with extra charges. When I called the 16 year old girl on the phone said they ONCE AGAIN had no record of my new card, and that they had CANCELLED my membership without even notifying me---and the icing on the cake--they would only wave one service charge fee! At Platinum Fitness, you get what you pay for. Maybe try charging a little more for your membership and stop hiring Justin Biebers fan club as your front desk staff.
