Try your best NOT to sign up a contract. It may cost you a lit more for a monthly bases membership, BUT its better off. Like many, to save $, I signed up a 1-year contract and went to gym zero (0) times :( . As a professional Engineer and a busy New Yorker, my sched. is really really packed, but still signed up due to heavy sales pitch of their "sales people". At the end of the day they are interested in your $, obviously! lol.... who is not? My membership expired about 13 months ago, but they will never tell you or stop charging your bank account. To cancel they gave me a lots of run around. This is why I would agree w/ one of the reviews above saying that a manager is never available and thats very true (as every time I went in to cancel my account the manger was never avail....even over the phone, lol)....especially when they know you wish to cancel. Finally, as advised, I mailed a cancelation letter (w/ account pertinent info) via US mail to stop my account and still have to wait another 60-days for it to be effective. So, keep in mind that the contract is written by Retro Fitness/ Businesss attorneys, obviously to favor and protect them, and not you. Thus do NOT be naïve to expect mercy and fairness :( . They made the cancellation process so difficult to discourage people from even thinking about reimbursement of any fees they NEVER utilized at first place. #corporateRulescutthroatsmileGreed

RUSSELL KNIGHT is the worst manager EVER! Very unprofessional and should lose his job! I had payments with Metro fitness for a very long time. Multiple times I came to the faculty and we got into an issue of being charged excessively after I canceled my account SENT CANCELLATION LETTER . Even after speaking to ABC financial regarding to the issue he only lied to them and say that I didnt send the paperwork and when I called back to to speak to him hes busy all day now??????? very unprofessional and I was going to let him know this review is going to go up the representative that he was too busy to take my call!!!!!! after he got off the phone with them two minutes ago these people just love Taking people taking their money. Even after the issue where they sent me a email saying if I Let anyone use my retro card it will be cancelled THAT WASNT EVEN THE CASE! THESE PEOPLE ARE MIS USING THEIR POWER THE WORST PART ME BEING LOG TERM WITH THEM FOR THEM TO DO THIS VERY SICKEN! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO THIS GYM THEIR TERM AND AGREEMENT VERY MESSY ! DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR STICK WITH CRUNCH FITNESS!!!!!!!!!! Even after I sent my cancellation paperwork to them. They dont have Any notice of it ! They need New Mangement LIKE I SAID WORST MANGER EVER!!!!!!!!! Extremely dissatisfied NEVER AGAIN.

Lmao everything that people have said is true. The gym is not great. People prefer this gym to Blink because blink closes at 10pm and this is open 24hrs. However they have horrible weekend hours. Most working people like to workout on the weekends when they are not super tired from working all day. They miss the mark there. The pedals on all their machines are dirty with sticky stuff which is a sign that they dont clean their machines regularly. I havent tried to cancel, but Im pretty sure all gyms make their money by people signing up and not coming. Its pretty much a scam for everyone, unless youre actually going to go every day. For $35 a month or $420 a year you can buy your own elliptical machine or professional weight set. Ive had my membership for about a year but havent really started going until recently. If youre not sure about a gym membership I suggest doing videos at home. The yoga instructor at this gym gave me the foundation to start doing yoga at home, which I discovered are the exact same workouts from YouTube. Go figure. The classes make this gym better than planet fitness, blink or the cheaper chains, but it can be improved.

If I could give zero stars I would!!!! Stay far away from this gym. I had signed a membership back in April 2014 never missed a payment once and utilized the gym alot. I renewed in 2015 but towards end of year started going to Blink Fitness on Nostrand Ave and diddnt want my Retro account anymore so they told me I had to go in person three months in advance in Jan to stop "Auto Renewal" luckily for me I recorded the entire conversation because when April came they tried to tell me I needed a certified letter sent to ABC FINANCIAL once reviewed theyll cancel it but still charge me for final month. I immediately call ABC on the phone and they said this Retro Fitness handles cancellations in house only and they have nothing to do with it. Finding out they were liars I put them on Ripoff Report, BBB, and sent numerous emails finally after all that they closed the account. Besides for all that gym itself is terrible. Trainers are cocky assholes who are all out of shape yet giving advice and its same idiot macho heads who lift there everyday dont share or clean when done.

This company deserves zero stars. I authorized the them to take automated monthly payments from my account. However a year later when I had a death in the family, lost my job and needed to move I informed them of my circumstance. They said I needed to come in person to the office to speak with the manager. I made an appointment and came in. I was told they would adjust my payment briefly and then gave me the run around about sending in a certified letter to them so they could review it and decide whether or not I could cancel my membership. When I called headquarters they said they could not cancel over the phone that I had to contact the gym. They eventually sold my case to a bill collector and reported my my bill to the credit Bureau. Please stay far away from this business, it is shady and not worth it. I have warned everyone that I could about them. They have lost a customer for life and have horrible customer service. I have contacted the BBB to hopefully bring to light their fraudulent, and unethical practices.

Im leaving this review on-behalf of a friend. You can never speak to a manager. The employees say that they never know when the manager is going to be at the location, you have to leave a message and expect a call-back. I dont know if they were instructed to say this or if its simply bad business. Before you join know that to cancel is a pain, you have to send a certified letter to the main office and then wait two months after the letter is received before your membership can be cancelled. You also have to find the manager (the same one thats hard to find) to cancel any personal training contract separately from the overall gym membership. So yes, you can cancel the gym membership but if you cant find the manager, continue to be billed for personal training services after you contract is cancelled. Its in a great location, but Planet Fitness is very similar but doesnt give you the same hassle with cancelling or speaking to a manager if you have any issues.

Beware they are fraudulent. I went to the gym in November to cancel my membership. The young man told me all was fine with the cancellation. About two months after the cancellation, I notice money was still being deducted from my account. I was moving to another state and went to the gym, they claimed that their systems were down and the manager is the one to do it, and she was out to lunch. I left my contact card and the membership card along with a note to stop my membership, no one contact me from that location. I got several calls from their collection agency regarding outstanding balance which I will not be paying. They are sick and can damage your credit. Be Very Very Very Very careful. I am very dissatisfied with their service. Zero ratings from this customer. p.s. I tried posting without the rating this site will not let you post unless you pretend to be satisfy with them. Hence the one star rating above. Funny....
