I never write reviews for anything, but I need to share with you my experience at Lucille Roberts in Holbrook, NY. I have never enjoyed exercising, and for years I would not go into a gym. I finally retired from my job after 30 years, and I decided to do something for myself. I went over to Lucille Roberts on the advice of a good friend. When I walked in, I was prepared to see the same “gorgeous girls” at the desk, and the vapid, musclebound trainers running around. Instead, a lovely woman of about my age approached me and asked if I was interested in joining. I found out that she was the manager of the gym. She was warm and friendly, and I felt comfortable enough to admit that I was not a fan of exercise, and was not a hundred percent sold on joining. She listened to me- no judgment, no condescending attitude- and allowed me to express my doubts. Then she spent over 45 minutes taking me around the gym, showing me how to use the equipment, going over the schedule of classes and introducing me to women of various ages who were just like me- normal people trying to do something positive. It was because of this woman that I decided to join Lucille Roberts. It has been quite a while, and she never fails to greet me by name with a warm smile and a few words of encouragement. She knows to let me go at my pace and does acknowledge when I’ve hit a personal goal. I am amazed that someone who sees so many people all day long (and some who are not very nice, I have to say!) still finds the energy to support me each time I come in. I don’t think I would have stayed at any other gym, to be honest with you. I have been to Gold’s, Curves, World Gym and Bally’s- and have never felt as if I belonged. I felt you should know that you have a wonderful manager in Holbrook. Thanks for everything!

I joined LR in the summer of 2014 in the Bohemia location after being told by the manager, Marilyn, that if I joined THEN, I would absolutely NOT be charged MORE money for my membership when they closed in Bohemia and relocated to Holbrook. She even baited me with how much "better the new equipment would be" but that my fees would remain the same! Well, THAT was an OUTRIGHT LIE! After about a year, I received a letter from Lucille Roberts stating my membership would increase to almost 5 dollars more a month. When I called to speak to the lying manager, she conveniently "wasnt in." The letter stated the increase was because of the UPKEEP OF THE NEW EQUIPMENT! REALLY? I just LOVE being lied to. This manager will smile and lie right to your face. Buyer beware of this woman! As far as the gym goes, it is clean, BUT anyone can look in the windows because they arent covered and being located in the Sun Vet Mall means people can easily gawk at you from the windows and they DO all too many times! Hence another lie this manager stated a YEAR AGO, that the windows WOULD BE COVERED. As a result anyone can just look in and watch you work out. Not very comfortable for many. I could actually respect her if she didnt lie so much. As it stands now, I know she will say anything to make you join or remain a member and that just shows where her priorities lie: the almighty buck, regardless of how much she upsets members! That smile of hers hides a lot of lies. This would be at least a 4-star gym if someone else was in charge! (I would give it 5 stars if it was larger and the manager was forthright.) Having written this, I STILL go because I want to keep in shape. However, I dont now, nor will ever again, believe a word out of this managers mouth.

In attending Lucille Roberts for nearly 3 years I can only say great things. Marilyn the gym manager always is so helpful, bubbly in greeting everyone with a warm welcome, professional and answering any questions Ive had as well as motivating! Its rare to find someone who truly cares about the well being of others like Marilyn does for both guests and her staff. Jessica has also been helpful to me in the machines in readjusting or explanations. I enjoyed the gym when it was in Bohemia but truly love the new equipment in Holbrook, location and reasonable cost as well as all the classes offered. I encourage everyone to check it out, for the small fee its worth it and a no judgement zone...I lost 50 lbs and can say Lucille Roberts helped me learn what healthy living really is all about and Ill never look back!!!:)

I love the HOLBROOK location!!! I was a member of Bohemia who came over to HOLBROOK when they moved. The new gym is beautiful!! My dues have increased slightly but the new equipment is amazing!!! I get such a great workout! The manager Marilyn is very accommodating and always up front about everything!! She runs the gym very professionally, the gym is always clean and I am always greeted by a friendly face, the staff up front is very knowledgeable and always willing to help! Overall a great gym with a great staff! We love Marilyn in Holbrook!!! She always makes us laugh!

I have been coming to Lucille Roberts in Holbrook for 2 years now & I absolutely love it! The professionalism & friendliness of the entire staff is outstanding! Marilyn is always there to greet you with a cheery hello & a smile! She is the heart & soul of this club; her superior management skills keep this club running like a well oiled machine! The fitness instructors are very enthusiastic & encouraging; always there with helpful advice when needed! I highly recommend this club!!

I use the Holbrook location. The staff is always smiling and friendly. They are knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to any questions customers may have. The gym is always clean and neat. I really like the classes because it provides motivation and great results. I have been a member for about 2-3 years now and plan on staying a member for a long time. This is a life long commitment, and I am glad I get to share this experience with the kind people in Holbrook.

Ive signed up for a lot of gyms but have never felt as comfortable as I did at this one. My sister and I were greeted by Marilyn who made our experience awesome! She was very helpful, inspirational and also very good with my nephew who at first did not want to join the other kids in the babysitting room. My first day at this gym left me anxious to go back the next day. I will be attending tomorrow for my third day in a row! I highly recommend this location.

Non judgmental, empowering I feel great everytime Im going to workout while Im there n when I leave, from the moment I walk thru the door Im greeted by smiles. The staff especially Marilyn is the best she is so helpful n knowledgeable I feel secure that I am getting the right advice and she has no problem getting into the workout and showing me step by step shes very patient and nice.

Love this gym!!! From the first moment I entered the gym, the manager Marilyn was so welcoming. She is so friendly and accommodating and made me feel right at home. The gym is always clean and there is a smiling face greeting you at the front desk. The trainers/instructors are amazing and the classes are awesome! I highly recommend this Lucille Roberts Great job, Marilyn!!!!
