I travel a great deal throughout the US and globally. I think Ive seen it all! This includes poor service and my lower expectations of it. This past week, I was driving from New Haven To New York City for a meeting with the owner of my company. I look out of my rear view mirror on 95 around White Plains and lo and behold, smoke is pouring out of the back of the car. I drive a Subaru Outback with 180,000 miles but in great shape. I knew it wasnt engine oil because the smoke was white. I called my wife and asked her to find me a local AAMCO shop nearby because we have had our car maintained at the one in Branford CT. She then called Kathy at this White Plains location to tell her my problem. I arrived, was greeted warmly and then Jeff came up and spoke to me about the problem. They pulled a car out of the bay, diagnosed the problem which was a broken clamp of a breather filter for the transmission which ws not any issue with other work that AAMCO had performed. Jeff and his crew had the car fixed in less than two hours after my arrival. I think the thing that impressed me most was how courteous and respectful they were of me, my time and also wanting to make sure that they correctly diagnosed the problem. I actually got to New York for my meeting after thinking I was going to be stuck. The repair was not expensive. What a great experience given all of the lousy service we all get these days over the phone and at most retail operations. These folks were very honest and are a credit to the company that they represent. I will continue to use AAMCO both locally and will recommend it to my friends both here and in Westchester County. They fix anything and do it very well without trying to oversell you services and parts that you dont need. I couldnt be happier. Thanks guys! Sincerely, Wick Wolfe

I was recommended to come here to have my transmission worked on back in early november. I came to Jeff and told him the issues i was having and they allowed me to leave the car right away. Within a few days my car was ready to go and felt a ton better. Since the work was done ive put 8000 miles on her and not even a hiccup. The quality of work from this shop and the service is impecible. Last week i decided to go back to them thanks to how satisfied i was the first time around. This time to fix my control arms, motor mounts, power steering and an alignment. I was having a ton of issues with how the car steered and it was pulling very hard to the left. This time around i dealt alot more with Jarrett and Matt. After a few days in the shop i picked my car up yesterday and as expected from these guys the car drives like new. Im so impressed with the quality of work from this shop. Without question these guys are MY mechanics for the forseeable future. I couldnt see myself going anywhere else, especially with the trust ive now began to build with them. Thanks guys for doing a great job on my car. Matt Dellorletta from white plains

After my bad experiences with the other mechanics in white plains i was hesitant to have to bring my car in but didnt know who else to go to b/c the dealer is a rip off and lube places SUCK and my check engine light was on. i called up and spoke to Jarret who was very friendly and nice and he thankfully got me in the next day. They checked out my car and it came back that i needed a transmission. i had a line that was leaking for a while and i ran the transmission with no fluid. i talked to the owner jeff who also was very friendly and informative. one of the parts that sold me was that it wasnt just some chain mechanic place it is a family business. the real selling point for me was that they were able to give me a three year unlimited mile warranty which was perfect for me since i travel a lot that i am a sales person and that if something happened to my car i could bring it into any AAMCO and my warranty would be covered. Also found out that they do other things then just transmissions and plan to go there as my regular mechanic since they actually employee people who know what they are doing.

When your car breaks down and you have it towed to a mechanic, you cant end up being luckier than I was. Unless, that is, you have it towed to Jeff and his crew at AAMCO of White Plains. Not being from the area, and having to get back on the road to leave town, I was at first dreading the possibility of a prolonged stay as my car sat in a mechanics shop. Recognizing my situation, Jeff sprang to the rescue. My car was in the shop within minutes, diagnosed within an hour, and repaired and back on the road within the day. My car went from being on the brink of death to the road. As if that would have been enough, Jeff and his team were also incredibly kind. They gave me honest appraisals of what was wrong and worth or not worth doing—a rarity in a business generally more concerned with making money than keeping customers. You would be hard pressed to find an auto shop that cares more about its customers. I will make sure everyone I know in the West Chester knows about this unassuming shop. It just might restore your faith in humanity a bit.

This is the worst experience I have ever had getting my car repaired. I took my car in to diagnose why the check engine light was on and to see why I had two leaks coming from my car. jeff the owner had the mechanics check my car and told me that a slew of things were wrong with my car. I indicated to him that I would be taking a long distance road trip with my young child and that I needed my car to be safe to travel. He assured me he would fix whatever needed to be fixed on the car to insure my familys safety. He told me that he would do the repairs in 2 days, 2 days turned into 4 and I had to rent a vehicle to use while he had my car. He initially quoted me $1899 for various repairs. When it was all said and done the repairs totalled $2889. My car is still leaking and the check engine light is still on. I went back to him and he told me that I needed further repairs. I am so disappointed. I feel lied to, cheated and ripped off. I dont trust him to do the repairs he claims to do. I will never go back there again!

I was desperate when the auto-transmission of my 99 BMW went bad. The BMW dealer has no sympathy on me, and would charge me a lot even with my extended warranty. I decided to try AAMCO at White Plains, which is not far away from where I live. The manager who took my case was very knowledgeable and helpful; he really took pride in his peoples work. He declined the shady warranty negotiators offer of a used transmission picked up from a junk yard and made the recommendation of rebuilding the transmission. After serious thoughts, I decided to go with the managers suggestion and have them rebuild the tranny. The work was done quickly within a few days and the rebuilt transmission has been running like new since then! Later on, I got discounted price for the transmission fluid flush. Summary: Job very well done; factory quality. Professional, Ethical, and Honest.
