Evolutions has evolved. I used to go for my eyebrow waxes before they remolded (years ago) and decided to switch things up and visit Evolutions again. Though the interior is nice, the staff is not. They were 15 minutes late in arranging a seat for my appointment. I found my stylist to be intrusive, arrogant and standoffish(I wish I had remembered her name). As she washed and deep conditioned my hair, I could sense the tension and displeasure accumulate when she touched my thick, curly and kinky hair. I found it peculiar that she would wax my eyebrows while my head was still in the sink. Not only was there not enough light but it was incredibly uncomfortable. When she began combing and trimming my hair (which was ironically in the back of the salon, hidden from window view) I saw other people stare at me as if I were a martian. The small talk ceased. Even though evolutions mostly deals with caucasian hair types I was astounded by this degree of racism. My trim ended with "do you still have your hair tye?". I was incredibly offended. I left Evolutions with empty pockets, uneven eyebrows and a bad haircut. I agree with the other reviewer, Leau de Vie has much better service, better prices and friendlier more tolerant staff. Women of color beware!

I recently move to the South side of Asheville and thought I would try an Aveda salon a little closer to home. Unfortunately, I should have stuck with Leau de vie or Sensibilities downtown. My appointment was for a brow shaping. The lady was more than 10 minutes late calling me back for my appt. and it wasnt because she was with a client. Apparently, it was due to a smoke break because the during the entire appt. she wreaked of smoke and was breathing directly on me. In addition to the unprofessionalism, she did a horrible job on my brows. I had to pluck when I got home and Ill be making an appt. at Sensibilites to have them corrected within the week. Not to mention, she plucked more than she waxed. I can pluck at home. To sum my visit up all I can say is that it definitely didnt compare to the quality of service that other Aveda salons provide.

I would not recommend this salon. I rang to book and was told the cost would be $40 for the newest employee. She was friendly but nervous giving me a trim - I had to ask her to correct what was a definitely lopsided look and then she had to have the owner do some trimming around my ears and at the back. I then went to cash out and was told it was $55 and the bill showed $40 and $15 for consultation. I gave $10 tip because I did not want to discourage someone new...shame on me for bothering...shame on them for not keeping to their quoted price. WONT RETURN

So disappointed with the results of my hair. Literally went in telling them I wanted my hair to be lighter but not crazy bright and wanted it dark underneath. I dont blame the new girl that did my hair but it just doesnt look like they did anything to my hair. I dont mind spending my money but this was not work it. So disappointed in price for the results I got and I cant get my hair done for at least a month or 2 so I dont fry my hair off by highlighting again. Just so disappointed. They could not even offer me a discount. Will never go back ever!!!!

I already had a hair stylist but couldnt set-up an appointment in time for an event. I walked into the salon and they squeezed me in THAT DAY for a cut and color. My stylist (Shelly!) did a great job. The color looked totally natural and the cut gave me tons of fun movement. These ladies are also patrons at my gym and they embrace healthy living and habits, creating a positive environment. They carry the Aveda product line, which is natural and effective.

My hair doesnt even touch my shoulders. I wanted to have the top of my hair back combed and it looked awful. It was nothing like I asked for and I was so disappointed. But....when I went to check out, I was told the charge for an "up-do" was $70!!!!!!! There was no up-do! My hair is short. Ugh. Dont waste your time or your money on this place.

Ive been going to Evolutions for many years and have nothing but wonderful things to say about this salon. Jamie is not only a talented and charismatic stylist but an ambitious salon owner. I go for cuts/highlights/color and she is always open to helping me decide what direction I want to go with my hair. A+ salon!

I have gone to Evolutions in the past and recently returned to it. I have always been very happy with the service. I love my hair stylist! It is difficult to find someone that really knows what you like and looks good on you. My stylist is a true find!

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS! I was a customer here and recommended my mother to go here for product. However, when she arrived she was refused service. She was treated poorly and disrespectfully. Nobody messes with someones mother.
