Quick Summary: This was easily the worst haircut I have ever received in my life. The only thing this salon knows about curly hair is selling Aveda products. I had my hair combed out with a fine tooth comb, then blown dry despite my objections. I kept being told to "trust" them. When it turned out awful with frizz and half curls everywhere (a problem I havent had in over a decade), an Asian lady told me I was being too picky. They broke nearly every rule about cutting curly hair. The only nice thing my friend could say about it was that "it looks very even". I had to pay another salon to fix it. ------------------------------------------ I have curly hair, and was a little iffy about trying a new salon. I expressed my concerns before the haircut, and was assured by the lady behind the counter that they *specialize* in curly hair. (I was also handed an entire book on curly hair styling). I should have went with my gut feeling and left. I was assigned to a lady who told me in advance she knew little about curly hair. I knew I was in trouble when she started to use a fine tooth comb on my hair (a big DONT in the curly world). I stopped her and explained that she needed to cut the crest of the curl, or else it would look like crap. An Asian came over and told me I was wrong, and to just trust them. She then proceeded to cut my hair in a ball of equal length (does that even look good on straight hair?) After I explained that curly hair is generally different on the side then on top, I convinced her to trim the sides down. Then they pulled out the diffuser. I considered leaving at that point. Again, an Asian lady came up to convince me it was fine...and low and behold, I had a frizzy-Afro....not at all like the hanging curls I started with and asked for. I was nearly brought to tears (which is not easy for this 27 year old male). The Asian explained that the haircut was fine, I just needed to buy their products to make it look good. Then she sat 4 curly hair related products in front of me. I was definitely not in a buying mood at this point. She then had the audacity to tell me I was being too picky, as if it was my fault my hair looked like that. At this point, the Asian took over and began to shoot down my objections. She took out a bottle of hairspray, and started spraying the frizz. Thankfully, another salon lady finally heard me crying for help, and explained to the Asian that blow drying is a big DONT and had her wash my hair a second time. It was still very frizzy, but not puffy anymore - at least. Almost an hour into this ordeal, seeing me visibly upset and being continually shut down by this Asian lady, my friend finally suggested to them to just let me use their conditioner to get my frizz down so we could get out of there. Leaving was about the only positive experience I had with this place. Im not sure if all Aveda salons are this bad...but I honestly doubt I will ever go to one again. Having to pay to have my haircut fixed made this not only my worst hair cut experience, but my most expensive. In fact, after a week of dealing with the fall out from this...I may never go to a hair salon again.

I originally went her because of a Groupon. One of the owners, Janice, did my hair. I have short hair that is styled in a bob, but it is thick. I was immediately informed that the Groupon only covered so many grams of color and that because my hair was thick, I would have to pay extra in order to have enough color to highlight all my hair. I agreed. The cut was good, but even with paying the extra, I still did not get highlights ALL over....just on the top layers of my hair. I thought that this might be because of the groupon and such. Well, I went back 2 months later and paid FULL price for a cut and highlights. Still did NOT get highlights all over...just on the top layers. My hair only comes to my chin so you would think that at the highest price they charge for highlights they could cover all layers of my hair - even if it is thick. Then to top it all off, Janice was 15-20 minutes late starting my appointment because of finishing a mans haircut before me. Then, she booked another womans cut and style during my processing time (and she took time out of putting the highlights in my hair) to consult with this other customer). I had to wait 10 minutes after the timer had gone off for my processing for her to finish the other lady. Then, while cutting my hair, Janice kept walking off to consult with other stylists about their clients hair. It took FOUR HOURS to complete what should have been a 3 hour appointment. I am giving it 2 stars, instead of 1, because Janet did look o]up pictures of the style I wanted on the internet, to make sure she gave me the cut I wanted. However, my time is important too, and they are very stingy with their color.

Pros: One of the best haircut and color Ive ever had, hands down. Cons: There are lots. First of all, when I walked in for my appointment I was asked if I could come back in an hour or so, because the client the stylist was working with had booked more services than they were initially aware of. Ok, no problem. I had some things I could do, so I cheerfully obliged. I was using a Groupon, which I informed them of when I arrived. The stylist who was also one of the owner/partners, was very heavy handed. If you are tender-headed, beware! She talked constantly. She actually was so absorbed in her own conversation, she ran the comb she was using on my hair through her own hair! I have a lot of hair, which usually requires a little more color. I have never been charged for additional color. I suppose since I was using a Groupon, this meant they needed more money from me. She proceeded to tell me how they charge so much per ounce for additional color. I would be paying an additional $10. Fine, whatever. After more head yanking and hair pulling, I was finally finished with my ordeal. When I got to the register to pay for my additional color and leave a tip, the partner, the Asian lady discovered I was using a Groupon and told me there would be an additional $20 charge. She had no idea what services had been provided. It just seemed like she felt like they werent collecting enough from the Groupon, so she was throwing the extra $20 on top. If you want to be used and abused, go to this salon. Otherwise, I dont recommend at all.

If I could give them half a star I would. I once was a satisfied, return-customer here, until a few months ago. First of all, their receptionist mistakenly scheduled my cut and color with someone I had never seen before, even though I asked for my usual stylist. After 3 hours of having my hair colored (took way too long) I realized I was extremely unsatisfied with it. I was very sick that day and didnt have time for them to reapply color. I called back saying I was disappointed with the color, as it was not what I asked for, and because I could barely tell a difference in appearance at all. They told me to come back in, that they would "fix it" for free. I came back the next week, discussed my hair with the same stylist and after 20 minutes of sitting in a salon chair, the manager, quite loudly, in a room full of people, said Id be charged for any touch ups because it essentially wasnt their fault. Unfortunately, the manager talked to me like I was a confused child and took no responsibility for what she called a "miscommunication". I decided to leave because I found this very insulting, and I didnt have money for the "touch ups". So, I left the salon without any consolation, having paid $200 for a cut and color that could not be differentiated from my natural color, and having spent 3+ hours of my Saturday morning, when I shouldve been at Urgent Care, to be publicly belittled and ripped off by this salon. Needless to say, I will never give these people my business again, nor could I ever recommend their services.
