My experience with Safe & Secure Storage couldnt be more different from the other reviewers. I rented a 10x10 unit from Jan to Dec 2013 for storage of my business equipment and supplies and personal belongings, as well as a friends personal belongings.

I have another friend who is currently renting a 6x10 unit, and hes also completely satisfied with his storage experience. Regarding some of the comments about security, my storage-mate and I accessed the unit roughly every other week or so during that time, and neither one of us ever saw any evidence of people living in the units, nor did we ever see any other suspicious activity within the gates. There is a restaurant supply business and a junk removal business sharing the main lot, so theres quite a bit of legitimate activity during the day and it seems like that level of activity would be something of a deterrent. I found the storage manager to be a very nice and straightforward person, and also extremely receptive, accommodating, and helpful for my own particular storage needs. The gates, which are not automatic, are indeed open during the day, from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm, and the facility is often unattended. Both facts were made perfectly clear to me by the manager when I signed up for my unit. I think the security of the lot is adequate for the units, but definitely not very high for outside storage of vehicles, which is pretty clear from just seeing the lot. The surrounding neighborhood is not exactly at the Biltmore level, but its certainly far from being in an area of concern for personal safety. Its only a half-block down from Haywood Road and surrounded by active businesses. Regarding the other review about unit damage, I find the managers rebuttal to be completely in character with what I experienced overall, that is, professional and courteous management. Pricing is reasonable and the convenience of the location is great. Its easy to get in and out of with a vehicle and is probably the only storage lot in Asheville thats readily reachable by bus, since its just off of a major bus line. I couldnt be more satisfied with my experience and dont hesitate to recommend it. My two friends mentioned above agree with me. Its exactly as advertised and the management is no-nonsense.

Our company stored 2 vehicles in their lot for a few months, and when one of them was "tagged" with graffiti, I asked if I could review the video footage to see who may have done it and was told that the cameras didnt monitor that part of the storage facility, and even if they did, the quality of the video would be too poor for us to be able to identify the person responsible. I then mentioned that every time I drove by or stopped to retrieve the vehicles, the gate was wide open. I was told that that was because people using the storage facility failed to close it. I then asked if someone on site could close the gate if it had been left open and he said there was usually no one on site to do so and said that was why they had video cameras - which he previously mentioned were too crappy to rely on! Also, there are people who live out of their storage sheds and lots of sketchy characters about. I would NOT recommend this place at all and am posting this review because I wish I wouldve known this before storing vehicles there. It is neither safe, nor secure.

We called or stopped by several storage places in Asheville, and no one came close to having the prices or the great service as Safe and Secure. They misquoted what spaces they had available on the phone, and as an apology they gave us a larger space for the price quoted for the smaller space, and threw in a free lock. We were a few days late in paying one month, but they didnt mind at all. And when we didnt move everything out in time to avoid the January payment, they gave us until the 5th of the month to move out, without charging us anything for January. Basically, they are very easy-going and nice people who will work with you.

I move my stuff in and then it rains and I find a huge whole in the roof. When i bring this up they ask how I did that. Obviously if i knew there was a whole in the roof I would not have put my valuables in there. Then he tells me it is my job to move it while he just sits there and watches. He doesnt even seem to care about his customers or their things just ripping you off and making a buck.
