We were moving out of the house we were renting from AAIMS this past week. The person co-ordinating all of the services we needed done for 1608 Stansfield Dr, Ms. Davis, works two jobs and goes to nursing school in the evenings full time. I personally work two jobs and do commissions for art and writing in the small amount of spare time I have available to me. Our other two roommates, Mr. McCrary, who works many odd hours as required for his position as a manager, and Ms. Cunningham who works early in the morning to sometimes late in the evening as a teacher, didnt have the time to help clean the nearly 2,400 Sq. Foot house. My mother, who works at WAMC as a full-time DOD employee, was even helping Ms. Davis and I clean this house. Due to the enormity of the house and the fact that Ms. Davis and I had already rented another property elsewhere, we decided to leave our Move out cleaning to Merry Maids. This was a mistake. First off, there was a misunderstanding by Mr. McCrary about the time that the service member from Merry Maids was supposed to stay. According to Ms. Davis, she was supposed to stay for two hours to clean the common areas, which included the kitchen, living room, formal dining area, pantry/laundry room, and the den and hallways. Mr. McCrary was under the belief it was one hour and told the service person so. I do not fault Merry Maids for his mistake. I, however, do fault Merry Maids with their piss poor performance and their terrible customer service. My mother went to see what they did. My mother and I are both clean freaks, both army. So, when my mother went to our house after she had been on her feet all day doing a job she is paid for, she did not understand why the house was not cleaned. The house, right before this fateful encounter with Merry Maids, had been occupied for the previous two weeks by Mr. McCrary and Ms. Cunningham, both who are not the best at cleaning as well as Ms. Davis and I, whom had moved out to our apt at the beginning of November. So, for my mother to comment on how dirty the house still was, was to mean that there wasnt any difference between the time she had been there the previous night cleaning, nor that she could notice that anything had even been touched. In her words, "I dont know what Merry Maids really did here and I dont know how much you guys paid them but none of the baseboards really were done in this house and the refrigerators need to be clean." This was all part of the move out cleaning agreement with Merry Maids to be cleaned by them. The fans hadnt been cleaned either, something that was agreed to be done by Merry Maids. My mother, a 411" woman had to get on a shaky bar stool to even reach with a rag to wipe both fans down. She and Ms. Davis, who has back issues as well, were on their hands and knees scrubbing the baseboards, then doing both the fridges, sweeping the pantry and kitchen and dining room, where it hadnt even been swept. The reason we know these areas hadnt known the loving touch of a broom was due to the fact that glass that had been shattered in one of the rooms that "was cleaned" by Merry Maids, was still there. Not small shards, but the bigger ones. We have pictures of the before we cleaned, after Merry Maids had been there and the after we had cleaned. Even more, places that had been "wiped down" by Merry Maids still had dust on them. Then there was the customer service. It took us forever to get hold of a supervisor, even more we couldnt even get access to talk to one personally. The contact we had was a regular employee as they wouldnt transfer us who was the go between. When Ms. Davis called the office to complain about how unclean the house was, they were only going to refund her $40 out of the $95. That is a rip off for a service that was not even performed half right. They should refund Ms. Davis in full and give us an apology for having to go behind them on our tight schedules because this was inexcusable for a business who prides on cleaning, especially in a military town such as Ft. Bragg.

We had Merry Maids service our house for a few months as we are a busy working family. At first it seemed okay but quickly started to go downhill. I once caught the maids spending only 40 minutes at our house. They literally left crumbs lying on the floor and just surface wiped things. They did not even mop. The only time the house was ever clean was the first clean after we complained. They then downright lied to us when we requested a specific maid. The management does have customer service skills but this is not a professional agency. Save your money and clean your own house.

I used Merry Maids about a year and a half ago to come just clean bathrooms and the kitchen as I could take care of the rest. They did a great job and were in and out in an hour and only charged $85. I called today requesting the same service and now the price is $230. That is just ridiculous. I cant imagine what the total would be if I had them clean the whole house. These people are ripping their customers off.
