Had my wedding here early October 2012. Positives: Great view for a wedding. Staff, upon arrival, were nice in trying to resolve issues that I had with their company Negatives: MaryAnn Beachemin was a complete hag to work with the whole 4 months I had to plan my wedding. Being that we live out of town, we couldnt come inspect the area before hand. You would think she would be a bit more helpful when trying to explain details to me. She was always short and snippy. I would even send her thank you emails to see if she would get the hint that she was being rotten the hole time! She didnt. IF she would answer emails, they wouldnt be clear. She told me to call her, not email her with questions (now I know why! NO PROOF!!!!) She booked me on Riverfest weekend and didnt tell me until 2 weeks beforehand. Parking was a complete nightmare for me and my guests. I had to walk almost 5 blocks, in my wedding dress and heels just to get to the boat. My poor guests had the same treatment. They only allotted me 30 minutes for my wedding, and one hour to decorate. The 3rd deck, where they do the weddings, was slanted (oops, forgot to tell me that too.) I stood my whole wedding, on a slant, and my guests felt like they were going to fall back in there chairs. MaryAnn told me I had 2 options when it came to music for the ceremony (had a DJ for the reception), either I could use their stereo, or use there jack (for an Ipod). We opted for the stereo. Upon arrival, there was NO STEREO. Music was a HUGE factor in my wedding and this ruined it. Luckily, my DJ had a laptop, but you could hardly hear the music. I couldnt even have that special moment with my hubby because I was so irritated! I couldnt hear my own music and wasnt even sure if it was time for me to come out..... Food was mediocre. I would expect more, a lot more for $40 per person. The staff butchered my cake. They were supposed to keep my top layer. They were supposed to serve ice cream along with the cake. They only served it to half my guests without asking if they wanted any or not. I was told that hubby and I would get any leftover champage that was unused, I didnt. Groomsman told us later he saw the staff drop a whole tray of it by the bar....wow, thats where my champagne went. To top it off, afterwards, when I complained, MaryAnn told me that they have done their jobs, and they felt as though there was nothing to resolve. Even tried to lie and say they didnt promise some of the things she had, even though I had SOME email to back it up (mind you, she hardly responded via email, always phone). I now know why they have so many bad reviews all over the web. I recieved no compensation for them ruining what was supposed to be the most happiest day of my life. Mind you, we paid completely upfront, followed all deadlines and the ways of the ship. We even helped clean up, and this is how they treated us. Do yourself a favor, and have your wedding somewhere else. Just because they have beautiful scenery doesnt mean they should be able to treat people this way.

I am getting married at the Battleship park and we are staying on the snooze and cruise boat that docks downtown for our wedding night. So we wanted that boat to pick us up from our reception and when we asked cape fear river boats to use their dock they were very rude and short with us. We even offered to pay them for it and insure ourself. Once we realized they would not do this we asked for them to charter us across the capefear so we could get on our boat on he downtown side and they wanted to charge us $400 to take us across he river, not even a 5 minute boat ride, SERIOUSLY!!! One of the only reasons we wanted to have the reception there was to ride away ona boat because we are having a light display for our get away and I guess they really do not care about customer satisfaction. They are getting a bad reputation about how they handle things because while I was talking with 2 other charter companies they told me that cape fear river boats personnel was hard to work with and rude and they didnt like to deal with them! Thanks for messing up one of the happiest days of my life Carl!!

I am a fairly recent transplant to Wilmington, NC and have been out on the Henrietta III a couple times now. Both times its been a great experience and Ive been able to get some amazing photos of the waterfront, wildlife and the Cape Fear River / Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. They serve food but I have never eaten on board the boat so I cant comment on the meals. Every who was eating seemed to be happy and having a great time though. Also some of the reviews mention rude staff and customer service people. I didnt experience any of that, in fact the owner was on the boat personally thanking everyone as we left... and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great time. If you get a chance to come down to Wilmington, NC or if you live here and are looking for something fun to do when family or friends come to visit... Put the Cape Fear Riverboats and the Henrietta III on your list of places to check out! Make sure you bring a camera, the views are amazing.

We had a great experience as part of our "babymoon" and a celebration for an accomplishment of my husband. To begin with, we arrived 30 mins early than our already booked and paid tour. We asked if there was anyway we could make it on the upcoming tour that was about to leave rather than wait. The owner, very pleasantly, said "absolutely. (To husband) go grab a drink and Ill meet you with the new tickets". The boat was waiting on my husband to get his drink in order to leave so the man went to the bar, told the bartender he needed to order and he had his drink quickly...which you can take on the boat tour which is great for those that wish to! The tour itself was informative and relaxing, lasting roughly 45 minutes. Due to the amount of yours they offer, the boat was not overly crowded and we had our own space. We have been to Wilmington many many times, for the small price, this is highly recommended at least once.

Great time! Ive been on several cruises on this boat and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was really good and the cruise itself (the sightseeing, the murder cruise especially) all lived up to expectations; definitely got our moneys worth. The customer service people I dealt with each time were knowledgable, friendly and helpful. Im not sure how the previous reviewer had such a bad experience, if it sincerely was her experience, but I cant help thinking it spectacularly unprofessional to have handled her disatisfaction this way. Why not call and talk to a manager? In any case, I can only speak for my own experience and that of my out of town guests - We had a great time and would (and will) do it again!
