In the Spring of 2017, we moved from Connecticut to the Wilmington, North Carolina area. We were lucky to have chosen Coastal Carrier as our movers, since they proved to be more than ready to meet the challenges this move presented. Allen and Chad arrived on a Thursday morning with their 52 foot tractor trailer. Since our road was small and newly repaved, we had arranged for them to park offsite until loading day. While this was beneficial to our neighbors, it meant added time and energy spent going back and forth for supplies, etc. Over the next two days, Allen and Chad were like whirling dervishes, packing, wrapping, taking apart furniture, and staging things in the garage. Early on day three, they brought in the van and began the loading process, while continuing to finish up some packing. The hope was they would finish that day. No such luck, as we had too much stuff, including a car that needed to ride in the van! With our closing date set for early the morning of day five, we were running out of time. Allen and Chad went into high gear and worked until 3 a.m., then were back up and working again at 7 a.m. on day four. The truck now had the car on it, but was rapidly running out of room. Finally, around noon, they were ready to load the last thing…..a 12 inch thick king size mattress that needed to fit into the eight inches of space remaining in the back of the truck. Somehow, with a lot of pushing and shoving, the doors finally closed. Frankly, we would have left the mattress, as we need a new one anyway – but how do you get rid of an enormous mattress on a Sunday afternoon? Two days later, our intrepid movers pulled up to our rental house in NC, opened the doors – very carefully – and began unloading, which with two additional helpers went quickly and efficiently. From beginning to end, Coastal Carriers excelled. Josh Shipman was professional, patient and helpful in guiding the planning of the move. Allen and Chad not only worked incredibly hard, but also were professional, considerate, polite and extremely reassuring throughout the move. Furthermore, none of our belongings were damaged, and the houses on both ends of the move were unscathed. Whether you are moving locally or cross country, we highly recommend Coastal Carriers. We have used Coastal Carriers for 2 local moves in the last 18 months. From day one on the first move, estimate and scheduling, we were treated with respect consideration for the details of the move. Josh Shipman was the first contact we had and he set the bar very high. We were pleased with his person approach and his timely response to preparing the estimate. Coastal was very competitive in their pricing. However the intangibles made the choice easy. The moving crew was very professional and polite, worked hard and completed the task in the time estimated. When it came time for the 2nd move, there was no question about our choice of Coastal Carriers. We went directly to Josh and relied on him to be honest and fair. He was very understanding of our needs (some to storage and some to temporary location), worked with use to do some packing ourselves, and once again, the crew was professional, polite and on time. The personal items were stored by Coastal Carrier for about 5 months while our home was being built. When it came time for the items to be delivered, they were delivered on time with virtually no damage. The crew was very careful and actually remembered some of the items that required special attention. Our confidence only grew as were dealt with the moving crew. We have made recommendations to others and trust their experiences will be the same. We have moved several times using the big name companies. Coastal Carrier service was far more professional and satisfying than any big name companies. All in all, they were superb. Moving is usually a stressful time. With Coastal there was very little stress and fear of something going wrong. Great job Josh and the crew.

My wife and I moved from Roanoke Rapids, NC to Williamsburg, VA earlier this fall season after living in our old house for almost 20 years. I have moved now eight times in my professional career. As many folks who move a good bit, I have had a couple of good mover experiences and a couple of not so good experiences along the way. This move,however was different from all the rest... the team that moved us this time was cut from an entirely different "bolt of cloth". Everyone, in a word, was incredible! The management team was knowledgeable and thorough and their followup communications were timely and informative. The foreman of the four man crew who did the packing, loading, and unloading were the most efficient ,professional, and courteous I could have ever imagined. Scott, the foreman, and his guys went out of their way to make every step of this process as seamless as possible and took the worry and frustration largely out of the picture. I secured more than one estimate from other movers and I will say Coastel was very competitive but not the lowest. However, they were worth every dime and more. The work they did and the way they conducted themselves during the process far exceeded our expectations and was above and far beyond anything I had ever experienced before. My wife and I are hopeful this will be our last move as we retire here in Williamsburg, but be assured should the occasion ever rise again we will not hesitate to contact Coastal to do the job. We have had over 25 moves and must say, unequivocally, that our move from North Carolina to California handled by Coastal Carrier Moving and Storage Co. was the “best” moving experience of all. From the pack out in October 2015, through the year+ storage and delivery in December 2016, everything went incredibly smoothly. Josh Shipman, who handled the estimate and coordinated the move was fantastic. He was always available to answer our questions and bent over backwards to fulfill any reasonable requests. Shannon and her crew were outstanding with the care and attention they gave to the organization, handling, wrapping, and packing of our household effects. Many of these items were quite fragile and included antique furniture and expensive framed paintings and photographs. Finally, words cannot express our admiration and gratitude to Ben W. and Scott R who delivered and moved everything into our residence. We feel that Ben and Scott went above and beyond what was required. They were incredibly efficient and extremely careful in maneuvering very large furniture pieces in cramped quarters. When one especially large piece could not be moved to its chosen place on an upper floor, we were devastated and felt we would have to store it in the garage for sale at a later date. However, they came up with another plan, and amazed us when they were able to get that piece through a window with a mere inch of clearance on two sides. As stated, after numerous moves, Ben and Scott you are the best! We highly recommend Coastal Carriers to anyone considering a move and wants special care and peace of mind.

Based on prior moving experiences, we decided to use a moving company located in the city to which we were moving. We were recommended to Coastal Carrier by our realtor and our moving experience with Coastal Carrier was exceptional. For starters, Mike, in the office, was very helpful in getting the move coordinated. The real treat was when the team, headed by Scott, came to pack up our house. They came a couple of days early to pack up the kitchen and artwork before loading the truck. They could not have been more professional and hard working. They treated our items as though they were their own. In the course of packing they pointed out items that were broken or needed some special care. In many cases, they fixed the items or gave me valuable information I could use to get items repaired. We had our items placed in storage for a month but when we moved into our new home, Scott was back with most of the same team. Again, everyone was extremely professional, courteous, and hard working. I can honestly say that during this move, NOTHING was broken or missing. In fact, some of my furniture and items were in better shape after they moved them. For example, we had a glass curio that Scott packed and in the process of packing, straightened it out and tightened the fittings. Its in much better shape now than before we moved. I would highly recommend this moving company. Its an A-1 operation.
