Went in today to mail and pick up a package. Understandingly, the service was a tad slow considering there was ONLY one clerk there, Linda if I recall correctly. The woman in front of me was a bit chatty, which took some time, during which the man behind me said he was only there to pick up a package and asked if he could go next since she already knew him. Considering this transaction was being done on MY lunch hour, I said sure. He then told Linda some package number and off she went to search for his item, which also took some time. Never once did he present a delivery notice NOR ID......but got his package and off he went. Finally, I presented my delivery notice and was told I needed to present an ID. MIND YOU my ID was in my car and my response was, "So I have to walk ALL THE WAY back to my car, JUST to get my ID?" Now.....this wouldnt have ticked me off so much, if the previous customer hadnt JUST received his item without so much as a NOTICE or an ID! The ONLY difference was that I am a black female and he was a white male!!! IF this is the protocol to present identification.....then the customer before me shouldve been made to present his ALSO!!!

I went to this UPS store to have a title notarized after buying a vehicle from a private seller. When I went in, the lady (manager, I later found) was very rude. She went on about saying how explaining the title to the seller was not her job, and reminding us consistently what WASN’T her job, to the point that she FAILED to do her job correctly! She also let other people go in front of me and was making multiple transactions between notarizing my document… maybe if she took the time to focus on customer service she wouldn’t make mistakes when writing something as simple as the date!! When I went to register my car at the license plate agency, I was turned away because she made mistakes on the date and wrote over them WITHOUT initialing to insure that the notary was sufficient! I am from Jacksonville (which is about 60 miles away) and when I called to complain all she said was “sorry” and asked what I wanted her to do to fix it… really? What a disappointment this was for me.. lesson learned!

I have used the UPS Store in downtown wilmington for several years. They provide a variety of services that add to my convenience. I have used their notary services, had passport photos taken, a USPS box, and we also package and ship with them. The service has always been excellent. I just read the negative feedback by Jessica Smoot and this sounds very uncharacteristic of any experience I have ever had there or with the manager who handles notary services. I am sure mistakes happen and would point out that a notarys job is not able to to provide translation services nor interpret legal documents. Their job is to verify the authenticity of a person, witness their signing, and record it. That is all. Dealing with DMV, I am positive only added to the stress level. I would think the dated paid receipt by the notary that match the notarized document would have countered any questions they may have had.

Im only updating my review and adding on a star because the man who helped me today was very understanding and helpful. I still hate UPS and will never use it again, but Michael (??) actually acted like he cared and wanted to help. The other man, Im assuming the owner or manager, only made me more frustrated and was very accusative and rude. He needs to take some pointers from the man who was operating the front of the store. Thanks again sir for being so helpful and kind. You were the only person that seemed to care out of all the people Ive talked to and dealt with since Friday when this ordeal started. If everyone at UPS was like you I might still consider doing business with them.

Very happy and impressed with their service. I was overseas at a time when packages were being sent to my house. Somehow they ended up at their store because no one was at home to get my packages. They contacted me while overseas and offered to repackage into one lighter box and send it to me to save money on international shipping. I was very happy to receive my package in two days on the other side of the world. Definitely recommend them.
