I visited this salon 4 or 5 times. In the beginning, the haircuts were mediocre but they werent horrible. The last two times I went there is what totally changed my mind. I will not be back. An Aveda Concept Salon is very different from an Aveda Lifestyle Salon. Im not sure, but judging by the quality of my haircuts, Im guessing that concept salons dont require their stylists to attend the Aveda Institute. The salon itself is gorgeous and trendy-looking, so I think I assumed it was a lifestyle salon. The staff are very friendly, thats for sure. BUT. The last haircut I got basically ruined my engagement pictures. When I left the salon, my hair was bouncy and waved, so I didnt realize how unblended the layers were. It felt much lighter and had body, so I was happy. I wear my hair straight 99.9% of the time, so I cant have some awful haircut that has to be hidden with waves. Im used to getting amazing, blended V-cuts that are absolutely perfect without having to police or stress the person cutting my hair. As I was rushing to get ready for my pictures that were out-of-town, I just straightened my hair as normal (this was about a week after the cut). I could tell a little bit that it didnt seem to be lying right, and my husband even said my hair was MUCH better BEFORE I got the haircut. He normally just agrees and would never say anything like that. It was very obvious, but he said its fine, its not bad (thats where the sugarcoating came in). Once I got the proofs, I was shocked. There is a shelf of layers that are 100% unblended around my face. I hadnt noticed right away, because most days I wear my hair up. As the holidays approached and I had different events to go to, I had more and more days where I struggled with my hair and I realized how bad it was. Its still pretty bad and its been 2.5 months. Its crazy how unblended layers can change your entire hair. The layers turn up and just look so bad! I used to be able to just let my hair air-dry, run my fingers through it, and it would be good enough to run errands, etc. NOT ANYMORE. Its soooo bad. Im getting it fixed tomorrow by a lifestyle salon and I cannot wait! I posted a picture of the proof.. my engagement picture on Yelp! The other mediocre experience was me driving to Wilmington from Jacksonville for a "formal style" within a week or two of the cut. I am terribly bad at styling hair, and I think I could have done it myself! It was very casual, and it fell out by the time I got back to Jacksonville (without even touching it). I already knew it would, and expressed that to the stylist before I left. Thinking back, I dont think any product was put in the ends of my hair. There were girls at the event who did their own hair and it looked 10000 times better. In order to get body in fine, flat hair, the whole head of hair needs to be hot rolled or curled first. I knew this, but I completely trusted her to do her own thing (after all, Im not a stylist, I just know what people have done to my hair in the past). I wont be so trusting in the future, and Ill never go to this salon or any concept salon again!

My hairdresser Kourtney is highly skilled, and in tuned to what I want. She styles and colors my hair perfectly. I receive many compliments! My esthetician Jessica is very knowledgeable regarding my facial care needs, and she makes me feel very relaxed and comfortable. I am grateful to visit such a fine salon.
