Ive been to Midtown twice for brunch and many times for answer the call of my sweet tooth. They have the best sweet potato pancakes Ive ever had. They perfectly blend the sweet potato, sweetness and savory nature of pancakes. Ive had many a too sweet or bland sweet potato pancake, Midtown hits the nail on the head. Also, try their Pumpkin pancakes (which are seasonal). The savory brunch food is average to slightly average. The prices are average to slightly higher based on the meal (specialty pancakes costs a little more, etc.). Its a very relaxed, cafe setting with plenty of seating. I really liked their coffee. Even though its average cafe coffee its pretty tasty, maybe they use filtered water. The staff is usually pretty attentive and informative. The bakery is a little higher, but worth every penny. Try the five flavor poundcake, blueberry coffee cake, creme de menthe brownies (seasonal) and frankly anything they make. I have yet to taste an item from the bakery that I havent liked. Over all its a pretty good place to breakfast, brunch or a sweet snack (they have savory snacks as well. The chicken salad is pretty good). Damn good omelettes as well, not greasy or too heavy. If youre in the area you have to go at least once. Its a better option than Ihop for sure.

The server and the rest of the staff are the only reason they are getting more then one star. I ordered the lasagna with a side of Mac and fries. Everything was bland and really greasy. The lasagna was cold in the middle so that means it was put in the microwave and not made fresh. It also came out in less then 15 minutes which was another sign it wasnt made well :/ I ended up not ordering anything else but a brownie blast and that was good. They removed the meal and sides from the bill and didnt charge for the brownie but we definitely wont be returning .

The staff at Midtown Café & Dessertery is as accommodating as you will find anywhere. the restaurant has a bakery or pub feel but offers breakfast anytime and desserts just out of this world. We recently had a family get-together in Winston-Salem and afterwards, all the cousins wanted to get together to eat and we picked Midtown. A group of 12, no problem. Appetizers included their homemade hot pimento cheese dip with bread strips...just to die for! Midtown is the kind of place I could take the president of bank or a buddy. Love it!

They have pretty good food here. Ive never found it to be exceptional, and I think their prices are a little more than its worth, but Ive definitely never had a bad meal. The service has been a little hit-or-miss, with some very friendly and knowledgeable servers and others who didnt seem much to care whether I was enjoying the experience or not. You could come here for a pretty solid meal, but I wouldnt rave about it.

Got a spinach, feta, and tomato omelette. Was just a folded egg patty with unripe tomato and frozen spinach with a huge pile of dry feta on top. Came with a side of hash browns that were a block of potato mush fried on one side. Ate the egg. Cost me $11. Love music playing loudly at 11:/30 am. Go here if you want to get drunk in the morning and feel fancy by overpaying. Wait until youre drunk to order food.

Amazing sevice! Came in around 1:20 on a Friday and was greeted and sat within a minute. My server was great and very uplifting. Her name was Brandi and I highly recommend her. The food came out in less than five minutes. Im sure when its busier its probably a longer wait but this place is still great. Ive never been here before but Im definitely coming back.

Just got back from lunch there. My daughter had a waffle and a side of hash browns with chocolate milk I had a salad with grilled chicken breast (small) and a tea. Total bill: over $21.00 The salad was plain: lettuce, tomato, cucumber with a tiny piiece of over cooked chicken. This place used to be good. Now they just seem to be gouging their customers.

Midtown Cafe is just average. The food tastes fine, but theres not anything that stands out. That would be all fine and well were the prices about $3 cheaper than they are. I dont mind paying for good food, but thats not the case here; its just average food thats overpriced.

Our favorite place for brunch on Sunday. Great place for families. The wait staff is always pleasant and prompt. Service is very quick. The banana crumble pancakes are delicious. Like having banana pudding in a pancake. Well known with locals for breakfast and dinner

My fiance and I were wanting a nice brunch and this restaurant was fantastic. Their food was fantastic and our waitress, Carla, was very friendly and welcoming. I highly suggest stopping by if you have a bit of a sweet tooth as their desserts are on point as well.

Our server was extremely friendly and the food was wonderful. We had the seasonal crab cakes for an appetizer. They were tasty, and the price was very fair. We also had cheesecake that was rich and smooth. We will definitely be going back here when we visit again.

The grandchildren always want to come here when they visit. The childrens menu, especially the pancakes (anytime) is a hit with them. The staff is very accomodating and thoughtful. All the food is delicious. Save room for dessert or take some home!

Winston-Salem has lots of great restaurant options but when my wife and are looking for a low key place for a quiet dinner after a long day, Midtown usually tops the list. Hearty comfort foods without the noise and bustle is what you can expect.

Try the blueberry pancakes with homemade blueberry syrup. One of the top 2 breakfast spots in WS with Marys. Dessert is to die for too. All eggs and omelets come with pancakes which isnt obvious on the menu.

Food is always superb! However, on our last couple of visits which span over a couple of months, the wait staff is not very friendly. It was like they would rather not have to be doing their job.

Great local cafe. I had the buttermilk pancakes and they were probably the most delicious thing Ive ever tasted. Service is fantastic and this is a place I would most definitely go again to.
