This is undoubtedly the friendliest workout facility in town! The staff members are exceptionally helpful and make people feel that they are very welcome. It starts with a friendly "hello" from the first staff member at the desk. There is a note of genuine happiness in all the employees that is not found in all of the other Y facilities in town. If you cannot find the exact room for a group workout, a staff member will walk with you to the place you are looking for. If a staff member doesnt have an answer to a request or question, he or she immediately finds another friendly staffer who can help. There is no condescending attitude or "im too busy to handle your request" going on here. A lot of energy is put into encouraging a healthy lifestyle, respecting people of all ages and backgrounds, and making workouts fun and accessible. Pilates and group exercise here are especially good.

The William G. White YMCA is a great place to exercise and relax. The staff is always friendly and upbeat. This is one of the oldest YMCA locations in Winston-Salem, so the facilities show some wear in spots, but this location keeps renewing and reinventing itself. It also has some special facilities that others do not have. The gardens at the entrance are especially beautiful.

I have been a member of this ymca for 22 yrs. Today Sam Smalls Sr decided to suspend my membership without having a foundation or a reason to do so. I will take this to a highher authority at the YMCA but i want to be clear that this was a form of personal issues that Sam has had. I did not break any YMCA rules and the suspension was not necessary.

Friendly and inviting workout facility near downtown. The instructors and staff are always friendly and eager to help. The weights and equipment are clean and the class selection is never-ending.

The yoga instructor Jacob is fantastic. Hes good with leading all positions but has a special gift leading shavasana.
