First and foremost, the workers were absolutely professional and courteous. They were careful. They did not break anything. They did not damage any walls or floors. The only comment about the workers is that several boxes ended up in the wrong room- not a big deal. The big issue is management. First, no one ever answers the phone live. One leaves a message and hopes for a return call. Perhaps it comes the same day, perhaps not. A few times I called and the voicemail greeting was "this user has a voicemail box that is not set up" so there was no way to leave a message. The best was the owners attitude about proper scheduling of the right manpower. The morning of my move, two men arrive, on time, with a truck. The truck is leaking gasoline on my driveway. It is only a 24 truck. My house is 3000 square feet with 4 bedrooms. The leader walks around the house with me and immediately says that the job actually requires 4 men and two trucks. He calls the office and determines that a second truck and two more men will be sent at some point. The second truck with the two additional workers do not arrive until around 3 pm. (Obviously that was not their fault). Meanwhile the original crew has loaded the first truck and unloaded it at the new house and are back at the old house. The four of them proceed to load one of the trucks. 5PM arrives and the leader informs me that they must stop working because they are not authorized for overtime. Even with 4 workers and two trucks, by this time they have not emptied the first house yet. Clearly had there been 4 workers the entire time, the first house could have been emptied. So the next day (Friday) I call to schedule a second move. I leave a message asking to be called back. I call back Saturday, Sunday and Monday leaving messages every time. A couple times I got the "no voicemail set up" message. Finally on Monday the owner calls me back. I relate my concerns to the owner. The owner then proceeds to blame me for not estimating the contents of my house properly. I replied that perhaps it was her job to come to a home and review its contents. Her response was that she has 150 moves a month, she does not have time to do that, and she continued to argue with me. I said, I still have stuff in the old house. She said, well if you had called we could have scheduled something the next day, which was now the preceding Friday. I informed her that I called every day. She informed me that they had "phone problems. But that someone could come out the next day. They did. Avoid this company. The workers will be picked up by another moving company as they are all courteous and hard workers. The owner doesnt seem to care.

We were scheduled to begin at 8am. After going until roughly 1pm and still at the old house, the movers stated that another crew couldnt handle what they were moving and they had to go help them. So, they left our old house with an entire truck full of our stuff to go help the other crew, and we didnt see them for another 3 hours! After that, they sent the truck to the new house to unload and then sent the other crew to our house with an empty truck. We had no idea on the time frame for this, so my wife and I had to split up between houses and sit at each one until they showed up. The manager acted as if he was doing us a favor by not charging us for the time they were not helping us (no kidding), but then proceeded to charge us for the extra 2 guys they sent to try to make up time. By 5:45 we had somewhere to be and could not stay while these guys were still going and had to have my mother in law come over to take over. When it was all said and done this took 12hrs to move out of a 2000 sq ft house. The guys were friendly enough, but the management is downright awful and has zero respect for the customers.

I was to be the first customer of the day; however, I was asked if they could move me to a later time. I stated yes, but no later than 12:00 pm. The lady I talked to said that would be no problem. My mother and I spent the entire morning getting my home ready for the move. Movers were to meet me at the Stop N Store where we could be getting furniture out of storage. 12:00 came and went. I called the office 3 times and no one responded. I left 3 messages. About 1:15 I decided to drive to the Family First office to discuss this situation. Upon arriving, I see 2 trucks and a number of gentlemen talking and no one looks to be in a hurry for the next job. Talking to the office manager, I stated my extreme disappointment in this company and that I should have been called if there was a problem with meeting my appointment time. My question is, did they even know they had me for a customer on that day? They lost my business and I will never recommend them to anyone. Also, if the office manager was on site, why did he not answer the phone and/or call me back. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!

They cancelled on me less than 12 hours before the move was scheduled without any logically sound basis for the cancellation. The man on the phone, who claimed to be the owner, stated that they did in fact have trucks available but refused to use them because they were not as fuel efficient as the trucks that they preferred to use on longer distance moves. He justified the last minute cancellation by repeatedly stating that "people make mistakes." Adding insult to injury, he stated multiple times that I would be refunded my security deposit, however, what they ACTUALLY did was CHARGE ME TWICE! I now have to dispute the charges and have gone to the Better Business Bureau (N.B. the Akron BBB lists Family First Moving as having 10 unresolved complaints at this time). We ended up using "Move It Now" to do the move for the same price, and they were fantastic. The "morals" and "values" that Family First Moving proclaims on their website are NOT reflected in their practices. AVOID FAMILY FIRST MOVING LIKE THE PLAGUE!

DO NOT use these people. I am very disappointed after they came highly recommended from a coworker. They dont answer their phone or return your calls and they take their time getting to you and moving your stuff. It took them over 5 hours for maybe a 3.5 hour job and we only moved 5 miles away. All they had to do was move the big stuff, I moved all of the little boxes and stuff myself. I wonder how long it would have taken them if I had them move everything. They left grease and dirt stains on my couches and they broke the leg on a stand-up mirror. One of the movers said that he could take and get it fixed no problem but then a day later I found the leg in an empty box in the garage. I would not recommend them to anyone.
