Ive been growing my hair out for 2+ years after my last bad haircut from Aveda and my hair was finally really long and I wanted a haircut. I showed a picture of a haircut that would go to my neck/collarbones. the student had me keep my head down the whole time, didnt even show me and ask "is this good" or "is this ok" she had me turned where I couldnt see the mirror and when she was done with my haircut she turned me so I could see the mirror. I started crying. I specifically said I didnt want a bob and my hair goes just under my ears. I was supposed to get bangs but I told them I didnt want bangs anymore. my hair is destroyed I never wanted hair this short EVER AGAIN. I will never go to aveda it took me two years to grow out my hair from the last buzz cut they gave me. also usually they give me a mirror so I can see the back of my hair and they didnt even do that... I had to see the chopped up back of my hair for myself at home. I am currently searching for hair extensions but Im afraid they cut my hair too short even for those. I shouldnt have to be searching for hair extensions but I cannot even look at myself with the current hair I have. also they shouldnt let amateurs cut hair while THE INSTRUCTOR IS ON THEIR LUNCH BREAK

I really like this school and have now been there for haircuts, highlights, manicures and pedicures. BUT, know you are at a school. You take a chance, and with risk comes a great price. For me, the price of treatments at regular salon is just too much for my pocketbook. So, I love the value of this place. So far, the polishing on the manicures and pedicures have been hit or miss, but I do enjoy the treatment. I have a really great stylist that does my hair. Too bad she is graduating soon. Instead of tipping, you have the option to buy the products if you like them. It is a win-win that way. I have never felt overly pressured to buy anything either. As some cons, plan to be there awhile, as they have to check in with their teachers and are just learning. As with many salons, but perhaps moreso, there is alot of chit chat and gossip amongst the students. No big deal to me. Lastly, if something does go wrong, you still have to pay for your service. They will try to fix it the same day, but if you cant stay, it seems to be a pain for them. Bring a picture for inspiration - the students and the teachers rely heavily on these. Next up is a facial for me. You cant beat the $35 price!

The instructors need to be more attentive to what their students are doing. I received a perm, and it was the girls first one - instead of asking the instructor how to do it, she kept asking her friend, who also had not done a perm on a real person before. She failed to pad the sink well for my neck, too, and now I have a giant, painful bruise there. I had told her it was hurting several times, but all she did was put a tiny hand towel there - not a normal towel like they usually do. All the while, the instructor never corrected her. The only time she was corrected was when she was halfway through my hair with the spiral curlers - now I have to go back in for a correction. And they apparently can take their time getting you in for that. I am NOT happy, and I am NOT going back, however cheap it is.

Service was awesome! I could not be happier. My appointment started right on time. My stylist came up to me, introduced herself, offered me something to drink, sat me down and we went over exactly what I wanted. Supervisors are always coming around checking to make sure students are cutting properly and are extremely friendly. As the conditioner in my hair was sitting in, I got a complimentary mini-facial & arm/hand massage. All for $15!! My stylist knew exactly what she was doing! Going in, I was extremely apprehensive since I was getting a lot (~10-12 inches) cut off and was terrified of what could happen but by the time she was finished I was all smiles. I really could not be happier. I highly recommend this place.

For the price, the haircuts here cant be beat! I have had three, all with different students, and all have been extremely well-done. The instructors and students check-in together at least 3 times during a haircut so I feel that my hair is safe! Everyone is friendly and determined to make your haircut be just what you want. I also love the little extras you get as part of the the service (mini facial and hand/arm massage). The only downfall can be that it takes longer than a usual haircut/style...but I prefer that to someone rushing and being sloppy or not knowing what I want.

Massage room is very cold in the winter so thats uncomfortable for being undressed .. although the price is great . I long hair that tangles easily so students always spend a great deal of time on my hair but they are learning so its to be expected. I enjoy going when I want to be pampered a little and also check out their new products. I would definitely recommend going on a day off after scheduling an appointment and enjoy herself! The tea in the waiting area is also very nice

Just love going to Brown Aveda Institute and having my hair done by one of the most amazing talented student, my daughter Samantha. They have taught her so much in the last few months that I love watching her grow into a professional, personable stylist. Thank you so much!

If you want an amazing haircut for not alot of money, this is the place to go! The students are watched like hawks by the instructors and have to stop at several different stages during a haircut to be checked. Manis and pedis are also fantastic!

I wanted to talk to someone about how my moms hair was done, but no one never returned my phone calls. We eventually switched my mother to another salon.
