This is the worst post office Ive ever been to. This isnt based on just one bad experience, but regular observation over several years. The first thing youll notice, unless you arrive at a rare moment, is that there is a long line and not enough counter help. Theres never more than 2 people at the counter, and often only 1, even at busy times like before Christmas. Sometimes, a person will come out of the back and pull people out of the line who are just picking up packages - you would think this would speed things along, but it really doesnt. The person disappears in the back looking for said package and it takes an eternity. Everyone who works here seems to be mad and unpleasant (not necessarily surprising). Im not looking for a smile or small talk or anything, I just want to get my business done in an efficient manner. But if anyone asks the counter person a question, they are very curt, blunt, and unpleasant, and if the customer is an older person, they dont understand, which just slows things down again. If you can, drive to a different post office, even as far as Chardon, because it will be quicker and more pleasant than dealing with this.

I made a quick stop at the post office on the way to work, got there just a few moments after opening, and was very happy that I was the first in line. That changed pretty quickly as I was told that the clerk was working on the other side with a family doing passports (this is the second time that this has happened to me at this branch and it takes a fair amount of time). Naturally, none of the additional help in the back would come out. By the time the clerk was able to take care of me, there were 4-5 other people in line behind me. The clerk was struggling and drinking coffee out of 32 oz deli container which she spilled all over the counter landing on stamps, mail, etc. She said "Shi..." and proceeded cleaning it up making the wait even longer. In addition, they lost my certified mail and either this branch or UPS lost a package that was tracked from UPS, handed off to USPS.

I have lived in the U.S., Germany, Poland and England and only the German postal system compares with ours but its outrageously expensive. I receive and ship a lot of parcels and I always find the Mentor post office staff to be friendly and helpful but sometimes the lines can be rather long in which case I often just use the self serve kiosk in the lobby which can be used 24/7. All the trouble I have ever had with parcels being lost, delayed, or damaged have been with FedEx and UPS. I avoid them and if I see that the person or company I am ordering something from uses them I always ask them to please send it USPS.

If you want to interact with people that absolutely hate their job stop by the Mentor post office! The guy behind the counter (balding, caucasion, wirey build) closed the doors on my son as he tried to mail the Santa letter last year! Have a heart, hes three! Its like youre on a hidden camera show & hes being a condescending jerk on purpose. Sucks when you realize that youre not. He gives Civil service employees a bad name. Its not a one time thing either. Its my local Post Office. Hes miserable EVERY SINGLE TIME. Go UPS if possible...or if youre a masochist, ENJOY!

Is your glass half full or half empty? I wonder if this answer predetermines your experience with the post office? I got there just 5 minutes before closing and yes, there was a line. However, I did get to meet some of my neighbors while waiting and we kept each other entertained. One of the employees came out of from the back to teach me the automated system to do overnight mailing, was kind and friendly even at the end of a long day. I admire their commitment and despite some of the cutbacks at the post office, continue to take pride at their job.

We have always had terrific home delivery service but this Saturday we waited untill 4:10 for a birthday present, finally we had to go to the party without. When we rerurned home the boxed present was there, crammed into our mail box, crushed on all sides and torn in numerous places. Just looking at the box upsets me! I think because the carrier was running so very late they just crammed the box into our mailbox. That is not acceptable. Who ever delivered on 4/15 to Hidden Hollow Drive shame on you!

I would give one star if I could. They put so much junk mail into our mail box, until its full and then have the nerve to empty my mail box and take my mail to the post office to pick it up, because it was full. I get three bills, the rest is garbage that you put in there. So Im on hold, Its a Wednesday and the wait time to talk to anyone is over an hour. What a joke. They left a note on a little piece of paper, stating this information, how very professional.

I was expecting a package on Saturday (1/31/15). It was a UPS Smartmail. I got a online message, it couldnt be delivered and the was a message was left. My husband walked down to mailbox just as the mail carrier was coming. He was not our usually carrier but he said he did not leave a message and he had no package. He knew how disappointed I was. He went above and beyond, found my package and made sure I got it that day. What great customer service.

Worst post office as far as getting your packages delivered, the mail carrier made no attempt to deliver the packages, he didnt pull in the driveway or even get out of his truck, now how lazy can anyone be. Sad part is Im home all day and because the package needs a signature we will have to make a special trip on Saturday.

Worst customer service ever. no wonder you guys are going out of business. Could not provide 2 measly pieces of tape for a 1st time customer. Never going here again. UPS and FEDEX will get my money. I would have taped it better had I known it was going to be such an inconvenience. If I could leave a lower review I would

I have many good experiences with the post office; However, i have to agree that there are a few rude and on edge clerks. They just act crabby and you get scared to ask them something because theyre so mean. I know there are a few clerks there i can remember who were very friendly and make each trip wonderful :)

Understaffed and the older lady is horrible to deal with. Rude and sent me back to the end of the line because I needed a different shipping envelope off the wall. Phone was ringing constantly. Total time while trying to mail with prepaid slip, 30 minutes and still waiting in line.
