I cant say enough about this Midas location. Their service has always been quick. The employees and owner are very personable. The owner will work himself out of money. Once, I had bad break drums, and I gave him permission to put in new brake drums if he had to. Instead of charging me for new ones, he was able to clean up the old ones. Worked himself out of a sale, but worked himself into having a loyal customer. He is one of the few honest mechanics around and will be honest as to what needs to be replaced and what can wait. He has always made time for me when I was a walk-in, although I know that appointments take priority. Another benefit is that this location is located in downtown Oberlin with plenty of places to eat and walk. You can get a bite to eat while waiting!

Ive been a customer for years and I have never had a negative experience. This is the most honest and helpful car repair shop anywhere! The owner knows me and my family well and treats us with nothing but respect. He and his staff explain car issues in ways that we can understand, but never sound like they are talking down to us. They work with you and your needs and are honest when a certain problem is not high on the priority list. I feel very comfortable to ask any questions no matter how dumb they may be. I cant imagine going anywhere else. Other places dont even compare! Note: The employees are not paid by commission. They are paid hourly.

I went in for what I thought would be a speedy oil change. I printed a coupon online for $19.99, and made an appointment for 12:30. I get to the shop, and they tell me to wait an hour. I ended up leaving the shop at 3:00!!!!! They found some problems with my car, gave me an itemized estimate of 163.00....I make another appointment to come in at 8:00 to get the problem fixed...had to wait until 1:30 before my car was ready ( I had a 2 hour estimate!!). My 163.00 also ended up being 191.76, and they never called me to ask my permission!! F***ers!!! THEY WILL TAKE FOREVER AND OVER CHARGE BEHIND YOUR BACK. DO NOT GO HERE.

Many students, without access to another car, have no other option than to walk to the downtown Midas. I have heard on several occasions that they have provided dismal service. Last week, I experienced more than dismal, but dishonest service. I went in for an oil change and they told me that I had to have my lower control arms replaced and gave me an estimate of over $600. When I took the car to another (honest and reputable) garage they said that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the control arms or anything else in the front of the car. Midas made up a problem to basically steal my money. Dont ever go there.

I use these guys all the time, have been for years, never had a problem. Keith the owner is very nice and is always happy to oblige odd service requests. But they are very busy so if you are waiting while your car is serviced, be patient! Bring a good book and relax.

My experience as a newcomer to Oberlin has always been positive. I have not had mechanical work done, but their help with batteries (charging/testing) and tires (plugging a nail hole in a radial tire) have been exemplary and inexpensive.
